I would love a CS that sells books at 3 for £1. Our most local is AUK and its £1 each, or 50p for kids books. We have quite a good selection of CS in the next town about 4 miles, away, but I haven't been down there for a while, so maybe after Christmas I will go and have a morning rummaging. I did manage to by some of DH's Christmas presents from said local CS though, he loves thrillers by Lee Childs and I found loads in there he hadn't read. I keep telling him to use the library, but he's never been a fan, don't know why, I love thinking of the money I have saved using library.Making the debt go down and savings go up

Charity shop books are good value and I also gave mine back when I've read them. I get lots of fabulous books for the grandchildren including a box set of 10 Roald Dahl books for £3.00. I've bought them some jigsaws too which they've really enjoyed much to the surprise of their parents.1

If I ever get to the bottom of my book pile I will definitely join the library. For now I buy from charity shops and donate back or swap with friends.DD came back from work with a present for the dog, although she doesn’t look best pleased 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)14

I hope you have a great Christmas @Sun_Addict
Just smiling at your dog, she doesn’t look impressed but not a chance my dog would lie there with the reindeer headband on. My Mrs once tried to put a hat on him and he went !!!!!! mental.1 -
Morning, happy Christmas Eve everyone 🎄☃️
Was rudely awoken by Mr SA at 5 am tapping me with the remote control to say “he had a stroke” 🤔 Asked who did? He responded “Brian Turner”. Felt a bit puzzled then remembered Mr SA going on about how shocked he was by Brian Turner’s appearance on James Martin’s programme yesterday. I really wanted to be woken up with that information 😐
DS, DIL and the GKs are here at lunchtime so must get the presents labelled. I’m doing a small buffet for them, nothing much just sausage rolls, mini pizzas and crisps. One year I made the mistake of buying all sorts of fancy stuff only for it all to be left in favour of these three items so this is all I do now. The GKs bring their Christmas Eve boxes and open them here which is nice. When did that become a thing! Will need to take the dog out before they arrive. It should be a NSD as don’t need anything today. Before his illness this is the day Mr SA used to go into town to get my present and he used to spend a fortune. One year I gave him a list of perfumes to choose from in case he couldn’t find one and he bought me all of them. Another year he went in JL and asked for one of everything at the Estée Lauder counter - that was a very expensive year 🫣 I used to dread the cc bill plopping on the mat in January. When the visitors have gone I will be putting my feet up with a Christmas film.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4 -
Happy Christmas to you and your family. Try to relax a little while you are not doing paid work.

I can't cope with the thought of not labelling presents as I wrap! It's so hard to work out what's what after they're done.
Enjoy the family visit, despite your rude awakening.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
