Yes @ladyholly our local council have done the same. The park where we take our dog is literally across the road from us which probably isn’t helping Mr SA’s hay fever. Rewilding sounds like a convenient way for the councils to save money on resource.

Mr F has also been more affected by hayfever this year. He is usually only affected by oilseed rape fields & it clears up as soon as they've finished flowering. It lasted longer this year, but he seems ok now.

Our local council is also rewilding. Hadn't thought that might be making his hay fever worse!

The money saving has been suggested here too.

Rewilding is a thing in my local city Plymouth and the state that has been left in with hundreds of trees culled and the grass left to grow tall is just devastating. How they can say leaving the grass to grow wild is good for the environment while chopping down trees in the same area is just unbelievable. Never thought that might be contributing to hayfever being worse than usual but it makes sense.

I think all this long grass is certainly making hayfever worse. Mine is the worst its been in many years and our council have left stuff growing everywhere.  Also the house next to ours has recently been sold and the previous owner moved out some time ago, so never bothered with the garden. New occupants are obviously not bothered about it as they have been in there about 4 weeks now  and the grass is now almost up to the washing line. When she pegs out her washing, it literally drags in the grass!  People who don't suffer with allergies, really don't understand how bad all these things are for us.

The last time my hayfever was this bad was the foot & mouth outbreak over 10 yrs ago, when a local field didn't get "mowed" by the cows.  Much to our relief the farmer eventually did it.

On the rewilding either oxford or cambridge have done an experiment with rewilding the way it has been done in many places I.e. a patch in the middle of a cut area and found the number of insects increased but because there wasn't a safe route there was no increase in the number of small mammals. I wonder if this will cause problems down the line.

    Good points on rewilding...
Hilarious image of Mr SA with goggles and a mask!
I love your exercise for the day plans. If you don't mind I will steal that for my diary as it will focus my mind to exercise everyday. It also reminds that there are so many ways to exercise too  :)
