I feel more or less back to normal now apart from a runny nose 🥳

Checked the top of the kitchen cupboards and they were cleaner than I thought. No dead flies 😆

Tried to retrieve the autumn decorations from the loft but Mr SA insisted on climbing the ladder and it was a nightmare getting him back down. An argument ensued about what would happen if he had a fall in the loft. Mission aborted in the end 😐

The weather was beautiful this afternoon so did loads of gardening. I have my first ever pumpkin growing. The plant has gone mad taking over the area where I planted the seeds.

Forgot to say it wasn’t a NSD as I bought the first Christmas present of the year. A Lynx set for Mr SA from B00ts star gift half price online only. Collecting it on Tuesday.

Afternoon all.

Worked in the office this morning, WFH this afternoon. Only got to do tomorrow in the office then off Wednesday and WFH Thursday and Friday. Next week the office is closed for a refresh so it will be WFH all week.

The painter finished the outside painting by lunchtime and I hadn't cleared the kitchen or hall to enable him to start those rooms so he's coming back tomorrow. I'm going to ask him to do the bathroom ceiling first as both DD and I will be out of the house. The front of the house looks so much better for a lick of paint.

Picked up the jacket and jumpers I ordered from MnS and then the B00ts order was also ready so picked that up too. The B00ts order was in a huge box so asked them to unpack it so I could leave it. The toiletry set itself was in a decent sized bag and I only just managed to fit it in my shopping bag. Stopped off at Lid! on the way home, Mr SA met me to take the bags.

Monday finance check done. Only a small balance on the cc so will wait until the pending items have cleared before paying it off. £17.00 transferred to current account from Christmas pot for Mr SA's present. New 4 week budget period starts today.

Today's exercise has been walking to/from work, strength training at 7.15 and yoga/meditation at 8pm.

Tonight's dinner is Spanish style butterbean stew.

I think a coat of fresh new paint really can brighten the place up. Mr F very keen to get our outside render & the lobby painted & I know it will really look like we've had a spruce-up but he already has 2 projects on the go so I don't know when he'll get round to it with working full time too. I could do it myself, but he likes painting along to a podcast.

I love butterbeans. I like making the gigantes plakis from the BBC Good Food healthy slow cooker book. It's lovely with just a simple slice of home made crusty bread & makes 4 decent portions. I like it on a baked sweet potato too. It has just a tiny amount of cinnamon in it & it always surprises me how that gives it a different flavour to other pulse/tomato based meals I cook.

Afternoon all.

Worked in the office until just after lunch. WFH this afternoon. It's a really busy work day today with only short intervals between meetings.

Picked up my train tickets for tomorrow from the station. I really hope I feel a bit better than this tomorrow as I'm really looking forward to my day out.

Several garbled phone calls from Mr SA despite me telling him I was in meetings all morning.

Bought some ceiling paint for the kitchen as apparently the paint I bought for the kitchen walls isn't suitable for the ceiling 😐Just bought a cheap basic magnolia as I've already spent far too much on paint and to be honest there wasn't much choice in B0yes.

The colour I chose for the kitchen walls looks lovely though, really pleased with it. And the bad news is the old cat jumped up and knocked over the paint. The painter had to go and fetch some special paint remover.

Caught the bus to/from work today as not only was it raining when I left the house but I've got a full blown head cold now and really didn't feel like sitting around in wet clothes. Not long after that the sun came out and it's been warm and sunny ever since. I would've had to catch the bus home anyway because of the paint.

I got up a bit before the 4.30 alarm this morning and glanced out of the window to see a huge badger walking down our drive. I thought it was a corgi dog at first 😆That trumped Mr SA's sighting of a baby fox in the early hours of yesterday.

Despite catching the bus I've still managed to do just over 10,000 steps so far today. If I feel like it I'll do resistance bands tonight.

Tonight's dinner is spiced tofu tacos with avocado lime crema.

That's the kitchen finished. It looks really fresh and nice to have a colour other than cream on the walls. He's starting the hall/stairs/landing tomorrow. I need to wipe round and put things back in the kitchen and take pictures off the walls in the hall etc ready for tomorrow. Hopefully it will be done by the time I get home as he's only doing the walls. Hopefully without any dramas either!

The painter certainly sounds very speedy and efficient. I would love to get the lounge done as we have been here nearly 20 years and its one room we've never touched. Its just so big and the stairs come down from the landing. The thought of moving stuff and starting on it, fills me with dread. Which is why we've never tackled it ourselves. DH has done all the other rooms, wallpapering and I've helped with painting, but think the lounge will be long and expensive and we need to save up for it and make it happen one day.

@Makingabobor2 you might be pleasantly surprised, you should at least get a quote. Maybe a handyman rather than an actual painter. We use an official painter because we’re happy with his work and he only lives around the corner from us. But a handyman would charge less I’m sure and probably do just as good a job.
