@satchmo1 no it would be more expensive to change the light fitting. There are 4 spotlights fitted into the ceiling none central so would make 4 holes - and the ceiling has just been replastered. They have lasted for just over 9 years so can’t complain.

The bathroom ceiling has been replastering. I’d forgotten just how much mess replastering makes 😐It took me ages to try and clean the bathroom up and it still needs another clean tomorrow. The painter will be back once the plaster dries.

The good news is I feel loads better tonight, hopefully that will continue to be the case as it will be a week tomorrow since it started🤞

Re the bathroom lights, the painter suggested messaging the builder who did our loft ladders last year as there’s an electrician he uses. Although I think it’s a job a handyman could do to be honest.

    Morning all, happy Friday.

WFH today so had a lovely relaxing start to the day. Still feeling quite a bit better although my nose is still streaming.

Quick end of week finance check done and an oddment of £2.00 sent to the Christmas pot. DD paid her board and that's gone to the home improvements pot for now so there's enough to cover the bathroom ceiling painting, bathroom lights and I've decided to have the stairs/landing carpet professionally deep cleaned once everything is done.

    Today I need to:

    • Give the bathroom another good clean - I got most of the plaster dust off yesterday but it could do with another going over.
    • Book Mr SA's dental check up
    • Phone Yumove to sort out the dog's subscription - I'm better doing this over the phone rather than via email as it's a bit all over the place
    • Message the builder to ask about an electrician for the bathroom lights
    • Make a start on putting the pictures etc back up on the walls - although this has been earmarked as a weekend job too

Today's exercise plan: yoga, dog walking, Zumba and strength training - subject to me still feeling better and I'll take it steady and listen to my body.

Tonight's dinner is creamed cabbage and leeks with veggie sausages and steamed veg.

Mr S have sent me another £12 off £60 spend so might see if I can sneak in another delivery next week. I doubt I'll use the £5 off £40 from Lid! as I can't think of much I need from there - it's a shame I didn't get it earlier as I spent just over £40 in there on Monday as I bought some bulbs and an infuser teapot. Mr T have send me a £18 off £120 spend but there's no way on earth I would spend that much in there so that won't get used.

It should be a NSD today, could do with a few of those now 😆

I got £5 off £60 for L!d!. Will probably go in on Mon after my dance class & meet up with my friend. Don't normally spend that much in a week, but can get 2 weeks worth of some things & also the hand cream I like is on a 15% off coupon, so can stock up. I will write a list so I don't buy stuff I don't actually need.

    Happy Saturday 🥂

    Strictly is back 🥳Happy days.

Feeling a good bit better today, still got the snuffles though.

Did a bonus live Zumba class at 8.30. Then decided to go to Lid! as we needed a few things that are cheaper there and realised that I probably could spend £40 to get the £5 off by stocking up on non perishables. I made a list and estimated the cost. Well it’s fair to say I spent well over £40 😬 Goodness knows how it all fitted on Mr SA’s scooter. There was a carrier bag full of tins alone. I could only find one tin of butter beans, I wonder if that’s the latest thing Lid! are short of. They never did get Mr SA’s lip balms back or the veg stock cubes.

Mr SA was really grumpy about going as it’s quite a long trek. He’s been tetchy all day so hope he’s not coming down with my bug.

After lunch he went for his nap so I cracked on with getting the pictures back up on the walls. At least it’s starting to looks bit more ship shape now. There’s a full tin of paint left over from the hall so will return it to BnQ when we’re down that way on Friday for the dog’s annual booster.

Tonight’s dinner is butternut squash and red pepper risotto. I’m roasting two squashes so some can be made into soup for next week’s lunches. I bought five when they were reduced to 29p a kilo in Lid! a couple of weeks ago.

Looking forward to putting my feet up with a Prosecco to watch Strictly later.

  • Glad you're feeling better, enjoy your prosecco and telly 🥂

Great to have a tin you can get refund on, wish we'd been told by builders about all the excess materials before it was too late to return any!
