Most things have gone back in the kitchen now and I’ve cleared the hall/landing ready for the next stage. Needless to say I ran out of time to do Resistance Bands, getting sorted was more important tonight. Just had a nice soak in the bath and off to bed shortly.

Your colour choices sound lovely. I’m a bit overwhelmed with the amount of things that need doing. I usually just go for white but quite fancy colours in this new place. We need to get the building work done first though.

The journey with Mr SA sounded horrendous…..thank goodness there were no injuries 👍

Morning all. Just enjoying a coffee in Ner0 before catching the train to do lunch with my friends. Really looking forward to this. I’m still full of cold but otherwise feel ok. The painter arrived just as I was leaving and is doing the hall etc today. Hopefully it will be done by the time I get back home. Then it’s just the bathroom ceiling and all is done apart from the woodwork - I’m doing that 😬

OH has announced he will paint the dining room, let the stress begin. Wonder how long till the swearing begins. If I set up a swear box, It should pay for a weekend away at Xmas.

I had a lovely catch up with my friends. I will admit I’ve been fighting off this blooming cold so I could tick off the office days and meet my friends today. I feel like I could just let it take over now.

The hall etc is done and I really like the pale lemon paint I chose, it really brightens it up.

As for the bathroom ceiling 😬While I’ve been out a plasterer has become involved. It needs replastering apparently. It’s someone the painter knows hence the swift response. He’s coming tomorrow to sort it out then the painter will be back to do his bit. Nothing is ever straightforward. That’s added £120 to the decorating costs 😐

On Mr SA’s scooter front Motability have decided his old one isn’t worth repairing so he’s getting a new one.

What a pain about the bathroom ceiling but good they were able to arrange a swift workaround. £120 is annoying but not as annoying as spending your money on the painting just for it to flake off/look rubbish

Glad you had a good time with friends and that the hall looks nice, pale lemon sounds very fetching.

What can you do to take it easier and have some rest time for the next few days? Ridiculous how long colds linger if you don't let them run their course. Get thee under a duvet with a hot toddy!

Morning all.

Still full of cold and I don’t feel great. Thankfully nowhere to go today other than take the dog out and draw out some cash for the plasterer who is coming at 4.30.

Mr SA has been warned not to hassle me today. He was asking me last night what time I’d be able to take the dog out this morning 😡

Thank goodness I’m WFH. I’ll plough my way through the various requests I received yesterday but I’m taking my time. I’ll get a quieter day working with my home office door shut rather than be off and at the mercy of Mr SA.

Mid week finance check done and cc balance paid off. An oddment of £3.82 sent to the holiday pot. Paid the painter for his work so far then I need to pay for the bathroom ceiling when it’s done. Had to lend myself my £500 buffer pot for all the painting etc as there wasn’t enough left in the home improvements pot. The regular saver that covers home improvements doesn’t mature until 16 October. I’m glad I keep this buffer to one side just in case although I could’ve borrowed it from another pot if necessary. I still need to get someone to sort out the bathroom ceiling LEDs as they’re not the same as in the kitchen where you just change the bulb. Two out of the four have gone now so they need sorting before they all go.

I’ve got loads of bits I need to do but not rushing they can wait until I feel better.

Hope you are feeling at least a bit better, but don't forget you need self-care to be fit to care for Mr SA.

You could have called in sick but kept yourself tucked away in your office to avoid being pestered… maybe do that tomorrow?

Would it be more cost effective to change the bathroom light fitting so that you don't have to call someone out whenever the bulbs go?
