Thanks all ☺️He had hung his walking stick from an outdoor light, reached out for it and lost his balance. Apart from being bruised he’s fine otherwise. He has more falls when the weather is good as he’s shuffling about in the garden.
Forgot to say there was a dead bird on the doormat this morning ☹️ No doubt the young cat’s handiwork. I tipped it over the fence at the bottom of the garden so it can decompose naturally amongst the bushes rather than put it in the bin. Poor little thing 😢In gardening news I picked my first strawberry yesterday and added it to my overnight oats. It was very tasty, wonder if I’ll get any more 😆 I also have a fair few blueberries appearing although not quite ready to pick yet.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping) -.literally have been run over by a bike, mobility scooter and a car - still here 💪6 -

my little darlings keep bringing in what I think are mice, I just find a set of miniature kidneys on the mat - for the last three days ! The culprit is just 1 year old, his brother is petrified of everything so it’s not him.

Morning all, happy hump day. Another week flying by.
WFH today so a nice slow start to the day.
It's the dreaded dental hygienist appointment today. I find them worse than check ups. I feel like I'm always at the dentist! I have 3/4 hygienist appointments and 2 check ups a year included in my Denplan insurance.
Then that's it for now with horrible appointments.
Today's exercise is yoga (done), dog walking later this morning, walking to/from the dentists and Zumba tonight. I've joined a 7 day free yoga challenge that starts on Saturday. I would love to be able to find time to do yoga every day but realistically I just don't have the time to spare. The challenge is only 5 minutes a day so is doable. Once I retire I'm determined the yoga/meditation will become a daily habit.
I'm feeling quite overwhelmed today with all the work/home things I need to do.
I've got a Mr M delivery coming at lunchtime. My new coat is being delivered today and the new dress is ready to pick up but won't be able to do that until Friday when I'm next in the city centre.
Tonight's dinner is roast salmon with za'atar and plenty of steamed veg. The salmon was on Mr M's online equivalent of a yellow sticker (flash sales) at 4 pieces for £5 which I thought was a good offer especially as I'm almost out of it.
There was a huge bunch of very ripe bananas in the Lid! box so I'm going to make 2 banana loaves. I can cook them the same time as I roast the salmon tonight in the mini oven/air fryer. One loaf will go in the freezer for future reference.
It was raining first thing but starting to brighten up now so will get a load of washing done and on the line.

I hope Mr SA isn't too stiff this morning. Do you keep a record of falls, in case ever needed for some assessment or other? A record of how he gets back to his feet might be a useful complement to that. I'm glad he could work out a way to get up.

Keeping a record of the falls is a good idea. Do you know if the shuffling is something that is simply a direct result of the brain injury and can't be resolved, or whether it's just a habit he has got into that physio could help with? If the latter, then a diary of the falls would give excellent backup for a request for the physio. I suspect even helping his balance would help, plus things like reminding him that he needs to take an extra step towards a thing he's reaching for (like a walking stick) rather than leaning forwards or sideways.
Hope your hygienist appointment goes well!

Thanks both. Physio can't do anything to help him, they've tried before. The shuffling is brain-related and how I first noticed there was something not right with him before his diagnosis. I suppose I should keep a record of his falls but not sure who would be interested. The good thing is that he's getting better at getting himself up even if it takes time. His balance is also part of the brain injury. He does need to stop putting himself in danger though. Unfortunately a lot of his problems are as a result of the part of his brain that's damaged.
