Sorry everything is a bit pants, but I really think the bathroom is a good idea. When I swapped my Bath out for a lovely reliable non moving fitted one MrWW (who never takes baths) thought it was pointless and the claw foot looked better (it didn’t). I got the biggest deepest one I could, with a central tap and it makes me smile every time I look at it. It could fit a hippo in, so is the perfect size for me 😅
Your bath sounds lovely. We are not going to swap ours, so hopefully it will save a bit of money, and then maybe at some point in the future we'll get it re-enamelled. I think ours is a non standard size and it's metal so solid as a rock.beanielou said:Sorry there’s so much happening. Keep plodding. A friend of mine got the bath in the house they bought to do up and sell on re-enamelled and it looks amazing - you'd think it was a new bath, it looks so good!
Sorry to hear the work stuff is so grim - it's awful when you find yourself getting that sinking feeling at the thought of work, and let's be honest, it's a big part of many of our lives isn't it.
Also - the process of transitioning from being in debt, to trying to build savings is INCREDIBLY tough. If you've learned the lessons from the debt stuff (which you clearly have) then no matter how far down the line you go, that horror of finding yourself back there is always present, and spending money after a long period of clearing debt just feels "wrong" - it takes time and actually I think also a whole new learning process to be able to move to a place where you can spend responsibly without guilt.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

It's hard with work, I've always mostly enjoyed the job, hence being here so long. It will just be good to know where we fit in the future, and whether I'll still have a job!
Thank you about the debts. You are so right. Because our savings aren't growing by loads every month, it feels really hard to go back to the start and have to begin building it up again, especially when everything is so uncertain at work. However, the bathroom is desperately needed now, so at least we don't have to take out a loan to do it. We've also paid outright for the electric works, the carpet for little miss's bedroom and although the boiler was put on a CC it's at 0% so should be cleared easily enough. It's a positive situation to be in overall!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". The plumber called me back yesterday and is coming out to give us a quote tomorrow. I'm hoping it will be no more than £5k and hopefully less. As long as the quote is reasonable we will use this one, as he's done work for us before and DH knows people that have had bathrooms done by him.
I've got a half day TOIL tomorrow so that I can go to little jwil's end of school production.
My hayfever is terrible at the moment, my eyes are so itchy and I am constantly sneezing. Meds aren't really touching it. I'm not going to let it stop me enjoying the nice weather though!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Well done on the PADs
I feel you on the hayfever as I'm having similar issues.
Good luck with the bathroom. I feel guilty spending £ still - so get that too. Best of luck with re-establishing your savings afterwards. At least it doesn't sound like fritter spends.

It's hard spending, but fingers crossed it will be worth it! I haven't been doing any frittering which is good news
It's always nice to escape in a book or a good film/tv series."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3 -

I've had the afternoon off to watch little jwil's production. It was lovely, and it's nice to see how all the children have grown up. DH is going to the evening performance while I take little miss swimming.
The plumber came round this morning, and is going to come back and do the kitchen taps next week, and will price up the bathroom work. There are some bits we'll have to arrange separately (plastering and flooring) but that's not a problem. I forgot to mention changing the radiator to a heated towel rail, so might ask next week or maybe leave it for now. He's going to tidy up the messy pipework too which will make it much more pleasant."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
