That's a nice idea.Sun_Addict said:When our old tomcat passed my daughter had a lovely plaque made with his photo and we still have it where we buried his ashes. It’s such a sad time.
That's nice. Our previous cat died at the point we were moving, so we were able to bury him here thankfully.WinterWarrior said:I have a stone cat, curled up sleeping, in the position where 5 of mine lay under a big tree here 😢. What often worries me is the little ones I left behind in my old garden when I moved. They were marked by a willow tree and some other shrubs, so I really hope no one ever redesigns the garden. I ended with a lot of oap’s all at once (just in case anyone is worried about my cat life expectancy record). The flowers sound lovely 🌷

She's doing better thankyou. We've had lots of conversations about what happens after death. It's quite hard knowing what to say for the best.NeverendingDMP said:So sorry to hear your news. Very hard for you and the littles xx

Today I've been gathering up all the cat paraphernalia and deciding whether to declutter or donate most of it. Some things are just going to be binned now, and some can be donated. I've got a whole month of food plus a bit extra to donate, and a full bag of cat litter as well. Just need to figure how best to do it. I put some dry food in the food waste, as it's been open for a while as she wasn't eating dry. I've washed the cat bed and towels. The litter tray and carrier are just bin fodder, they've been very well used.
I phoned up to pay the final vets bill. I'd paid the hospital bill at the weekend, but needed to cover Friday's treatment before she was transferred. I've paid just shy of £1k since Thursday.
The dog is coughing now. I could just curl up and cry. She's ok in herself, so will keep an eye for now.
I washed down the patio doors and the pet flap today. I left the doors open to dry and a bird pooped all down the inside of the glass so I had to redo it🙄. It does look much better now.
In true 'sod it' mode I've ordered a rug for the front room, the same as the one I bought for my room out the back. I'd been intending on getting it while I was off, but obviously hadn't been expecting the other costs. It's easier to get it while I am around and not doing school runs though, so I'll just suck it up. It's £104 including delivery and should really brighten up the front room."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Your local cats protection or cat rescue ( many dog rescues also take cats) may be very grateful for any food and other things you dont need

Yes, that's my plan, but just need to figure out logistics. They may not appreciate the large quantity being dropped off at the supermarket collection point.ladyholly said:Your local cats protection or cat rescue ( many dog rescues also take cats) may be very grateful for any food and other things you dont need
Nope, no more pets here. I'm getting pressure from others but it's not happening. It's always left to me to deal with, and I just don't want to do it any more. The financial costs are spiralling, I feel like insurance is a big con and a driver in the spiralling costs, the vets are always trying to sell 'optional' extras, and pets are just a commodity to make more money out of these days. I also want to reduce our environmental impact, and so that is another factor for me.WinterWarrior said:Are you not tempted to get another cat just now?The rug will be lovely. I've always had pets, and I won't say never, but for now I need a break.
Thank you, I'd thought of that too, but probably because of the quantity it will be better off going to a shelter.beanielou said:The foodbank always need cat food."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Absolutely agree on the insurance costs being a bit of a can ~~ M & S 55% increase. I'm sorry the cat's gone. Plese give little miss an extra hug from me.
I said no more fish after the last one. As you say it's always left to mum to do the cleaning up. The cat is 15 and I've said no more after her too, same reason.3
