So pleased to hear how well the GP appointment went, and that you saw someone who was interested in the "actual" problem!jwil said:
Thank youHumdinger1 said:Wonderful @jwil! Time to recharge the batteries. The doc sounds fab too. I hope you're giving yourself a pat on the back because your fitness is so much better than you thought. You can be fit even if carrying some weight but not many people realise it. Love Humdinger xx
I used to be relatively fit and very active, even though I was this size. Covid pretty much put paid to that, but I'm so pleased to hear I haven't completely destroyed it and maybe I can get back to it.
As a nation, we've slipped into a lazy habit of correlating "weight" with both "fitness" and "health" - but it's simply not that straightforward and simple. One of the most inciteful things I have read on the subject was a reminder that you simply cannot tell someone's state of health, in the vast majority of cases. Most people however is seeing a 5'6" size 8 person next to a 5'6" size 18 person, if asked which was the healthier, would immediately point to the larger body size - but that's not necessarily the case at all. I think the tide is beginning to turn - far more people are now aware of things like fatphobia for example. Long way to go, though!

Thank you, it made such a difference. Before Covid I went for one of those NHS health checks. The nurse that did it was absolutely amazed at all of my results. They were all normal and my fitness was good, despite my size. She actually said she wasn't expecting it. I don't think I'd get the same results today, but I'd love to get back to that even if I didn't drop many dress sizes.EssexHebridean said:

Hope everyone is well
I had Monday off and we went to the Miniature Pony Centre on Dartmoor which is just about to close. It's somewhere we've been meaning to go for years and so the news that they were closing nudged us to do it. Everyone else clearly had the same idea as it was packed. Such a shame though that they need to close.
The kids loved it, they got to ride a pony and walk one, and loved being able to cuddle them. They also loved the play areas, so it was a good day.
I'm back at work now, and DH is covering. I'm taking advantage of a quieter week and hoping to tick many things off my to do list!
I bought myself a new phone the other day. Very indulgent, but my old one was 6 years old and needed to be charged constantly. It also had a rubbish camera. I probably went higher spec than I needed to, but I got 12 months interest free credit, and DH has given me some money towards it as my birthday gift. If I get any other money I'll pay that over as well. I'll double up on the payments as well so hopefully clear it in 2-3 months rather than 12. It is a world away from my previous one - so much faster, the battery life is amazing, and the camera is amazing compared to the previous one. I'm really happy with it."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3 -
