please emphasise to HR/your new line manager that yes you are happy to continue with the higher pay grade tasks BUT that they cannot be written into your current role - i.e. they should continue to be at your own discretion. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?3 -
Glad you are getting some guidance at work now

That sounds really good news at work. I also do an unpaid higher grade work. No one thanks me for it or bats an eyelid, but I keep quiet as a job is a job. I’d be worried about losing the position and having no alternative at this point and the change crept up on me many years ago. So I do understand why you will keep them. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Good advice. At the moment, nothing is changing so it's not an issue. Later in the year when they do the restructure, it's likely my role will change and if it does then job evaluation etc will happen. If it doesn't, then yes, I will take that on board. I think the role I was initially identified for was a higher grade anyway, because I remember looking at the proposed structure and thinking I might apply for it if it looked interesting once they shared the JDs.teapot2 said:Glad you are getting some guidance at work now

It's frustrating isn't it. I was very surprised it was acknowledged, as no one has before! I'm in the unusual situation that I'm paid a grade higher than the job is anyway as I was TUPE'd in many years ago and the grade of this job was lower than the previous one. So I've never complained anyway. I think the proposed job was higher again, hence my thoughts about going for it, as I'm very loathe to give up my tupe protection unless I'm getting better benefits otherwise."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I'm so glad it's Friday. I'm exhausted!
This week has been manic, particularly yesterday where I was juggling school runs, doing an event at work, parents evening and swimming for little miss.
It all went well though in the end, and both kids had wonderful reports at parents evening, so I'm very proud of both of them!
I'm out this morning, but then plan to collapse in a heap for a couple of hours this afternoon before the kids come home. I'm very much peopled out!
It's half term next week and DH is off, but I've booked a couple of days as well so we can do something. It will be nice not having to do the school run on the other days as well.
My nice pads for the last couple of days have come from survey cashouts and another small lottery win. I wish the universe would realise I'd prefer the bigger prize rather than receive it in instalments at £3 at a time

I've had a spendy morning today, I did an Iceland order to top up the freezers, and have been organising birthday stuff for relatives. The latest strike book was only 99p on Kindle so I got that, as I've only listened to it on audiobook so far.
I think we're having a quiet day today, and I've got bedding in the wash. Just a bit of pottering around planned I think.
Have a good day everyone.

Enjoy your pottering, I'm planning a similar day
