Hi DFW321,good to see you back! Well done on the PADs, it's surprising on how they add up.debtfreewannabe321 said:Hi jwil,
Your PADs are inspiring me. I started doing this last month (after a long hiatus from the forums I am back to pay down my mortgage) and I felt like it wouldn't make much difference with small PADs here and there, but reading stories like yours helps me to see every little really does help.
I remember those books from my DS1, DS2 & DD too. I have actually kept our favourites back when the kids all had a clear out, so if I should ever be blessed with grandkids I will hand them back over as a gift, hopefully the kids will have their own fond memories of reading them with me and it's not just me who remembers them,

I'm sure your kids will have good memories of reading together, it was always a lovely time of day.

How's your knee doing now? I'm having an issue with one of mine in particular at the moment - not sure what's causing it but every few days it swells up a bit and gets sore. I'm trying to be scrupulous about not sitting with my feet tucked under me a I'm sure that doesn't help!
However, I don't have half as much determination and dedication as she does, I wish I did!
My knee seems ok again thank you. It's very strange isn't it. On Friday I could barely walk by the end of the day, it was so painful, but resting it overnight helped. I have taken it easy on Saturday, and yesterday did a bit of walking but tried to keep it gentle. This morning I walked to school as normal and it was fine. I'm just getting the odd twinge now and it can be a bit uncomfortable at night but it's mostly ok. Funnily enough I think sitting badly at our home computer doesn't help as our desk has a shelf on it so we can't put our knees under it. My work setup is fine as I've got a proper table for that.
I hope your knee improves soon."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1 -
Hope your knee improves EH as well as Jwil.
Great news on your DD's continued decluttering Jwil. Sounds like she's well and truly got the message that things have to go before anything new can come in.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

One of my meetings was cancelled today which turns out to be a good thing as I got a phone call this morning to say the kids in the afterschool club were doing a demonstration and presentation today so could I come down early to watch. Nothing like a bit of late notice! So I finished at 3.30, went down for that, brought the kids home, and then straight back down to school for the SATs meeting.
I think it's just going to be one of those weeks where I don't know whether I'm coming or going."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee4 -

I clearly spoke too soon yesterday, my knee is really painful again today! However, I have still walked this morning, including to work.
I've been in the office today, and had a fairly productive day. Also an interesting one. I've finally got a new line manager after a long period of time without any real guidance. I was informed that I am working above my pay grade, and was I happy to continue considering a pay rise isn't in the offering. I said yes because the additional tasks I do make my job much more interesting, and I enjoy them in the main. (Plus I'd rather have my job than no job!)
So, whilst no one is safe, I feel slightly more confident that I may not be at the top of the list for redundancies, and I bring a lot of value to my work. That's always nice to hear, and slightly reassuring, but I'm not going to make any assumptions about what the future will bring as there's too much unknown.
The best thing is I finally have some guidance and detail on what they want me to focus on, so I no longer have to feel like I'm going rogue and I can have some structure again."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
