Thank you everyone. She did come back late that night thankfully. I was very worried about her the following day as she wasn't eating, and not herself. At one point she fell off the radiator like a stone! It's only a low one thankfully. She perked up again though and is almost back to normal. She's due a vets visit at the end of the month for her meds, so I might bring it forward to the week before Christmas. She's nearly 18 so we always get a bit worried when she's out of sorts.
My PBs etc won't be looking so healthy as the boiler packed up last night
I'm glad I've got the savings, but it's gutting to be dipping into them so soon. We knew it was only a matter of time, but it's always an inconvenience. I've managed to get a new one booked for next week though, so hopefully we won't be cold for too long. Thank goodness it didn't happen last week when it was proper freezing! I've put it on the credit card as I worked out I could just get away with keeping my PBs in for the January draw and then withdrawing them straight away to pay off the CC before the interest kicks in. That also means that in the meantime I shall divert my PADs to the CC to try and pay off as much as I can beforehand so I can reduce the amount I need to withdraw.
We've got no hot water and heating, but the shower still works as that's electric so that's a good thing. We can boil the kettle to heat water for the dishes, and will use lots of blankets and hot water bottles. The temp is dropping in here today, so we might need to get a small heater to take the edge off, will see how we get on.

That is such a shame that you have to withdraw your pb but at least you have them when you need them. These things always happen at the most inconvenient time. I am very relieved that your cat returned relatively safely. I hope she is ok. Older animals are such a worry.Stay warm or at least as warn as you can. At least it didnt wait for Christmas to give up.3

It's £2.4k, but we went for a decent one with a 10 year guarantee. At least I can set aside thoughts of a heat pump for a while now and can just focus on doing up the house. Today I have finished painting the landing and hallway. I'm not sure it was the best idea with no heating to help it dry, but it at least kept me warm and it's done now so a huge thing off my mind. It looks so much better and cleaner out there now. It's amazing how much it's brightened it up. I've packed away all the decorating stuff which has been hanging around the house for months, so that's something else removed as well.
I think I might pop to get a heater on the way home from swimming as it's really chilly. I feel for people who are living like this as they can't afford to heat their homes. It's awful
