I am now off for 5 days, hurrah!  I've also managed to reduce my flexi by just over 5 hours this week, so I've only lost 2 hours.  I can cope with that.  I've booked a day flexi for half term so that will bring my balance down enough to leave a buffer.  It's been very nice having long lunch breaks I must say :D:D I also started later and finished earlier most days.

I need to sort myself out.  I've got some food waste this week, due to being 'aspirational' and of course not getting round to doing what I'd wanted to.  It makes me cross as it's a waste of money and resources.

How do I get around the fact that I just don't like cooking?  I'm no great chef, the family is fussy, and there is such a lack of workspace in the kitchen it's just a big pain in the rear.  All the planning in the world falls down when I just can't be bothered, or no one wants to try anything new and I don't want to cook something separate just for me.  And therein starts the snacking...  I will have to keep plodding on that one.

I've no real plans for the next few days, just pottering around the house and getting some stuff done I think.  Hopefully the mornings will be milder so I will be more inclined to walk again.  I have been trying to exercise otherwise so that's good too.

Oh I am so with you on that!  I hate recipes with a million ingredients.  Let's try and find some easy meals.  I'll share any if I can find them.

DH has sold 3 items, and the kids are currently selling 2 which go out of the weekend.  It's trickling out slowly :)

Great sales for the kids and dh. Another one here who loathes cooking. Mr LH is so fussy we end up having the same things that I know he will eat.
  • I confess I buy peanut butter by the kilo…my favourite maker is “Proper Nutty” from Yorkshire, and I buy their “paint tins” of it! 😂😂😂 (I came back from the Good Food Show with what I hope is a year’s supply for a bargain price!)

I’m sure Hugh Furry-Wotsit did a book a few years ago with recipes with very few ingredients - It might have been called 3 Good Things? While some of it is probably a bit “posh” for everyday meals, he does do some great down to earth family food too, so could be worth seeing if the library have it for a browse? Is there anything you can do quickly, easily and cheaply to make the kitchen more user friendly too perhaps? There is nothing like an easy to use kitchen to make you enjoy cooking more!

    Hi Jwil

Perhaps try casserole mix pre cut veg and pre marinated food. I did that this week with sausage casserole and a separate piri piri chicken with the veg, no water, just sweetcorn tin and tinned tomatoes and sweet chilli sauce and Cajun spice worked a treat. Virtually no effort

  • I don’t really enjoy cooking either! There are only 2 of us, so I end up making things he will eat instead of things I would fancy. Then I’ll have a ready meal if it’s something I really want as it’s not worth the effort of making for one.
