Your initial £15 has not been doubled.  When you buy the £15 sim the £15 remains as credit on your account - at least it is supposed to - except when they do it manually - they seem to want to deduct it which doesn't make sense.  Computer knows best I guess...lol
Thanks. I thought the £0.00/sim cost £15, but I have re-read the website and you are correct, it is an initial £15 top up. So it isn't doubled as you say (I thought it was being doubled then the £15 charge deducted) but it is added as credit, the SIM card does not cost £15.

Am I mad to attempt to add the full £60 of top ups to maximise the double-up offer? They have promised not to to increase prices this year, I might occasionally go over the free allowance but not massively and I can always shift up if needed (really don't think I'll need to) with the credit balance. It is tempting to consider.

Not mad - I'll be doing the same as there will be some months i may need a bundle - but the key thing is the credit never expires (unlike other networks) so why not as its free money.
Mobile phone credit can also be used for a limited number of other things too - for example - I have used mine to top up my Apple account and pay for my icloud subscription from the balance.

I have managed to get my first 2 £20 top-ups doubled but I was advised by email after the third one it couldn't be doubled as it took me over the £60 monthly top-up limit (I wasn't counting the initial £15 top-up as it wasn't doubled, but it seems that does count towards your top-up total for the month).

In fairness, they did email me before applying the credit asking what I wanted to do, offering to double £5 and refund £15 if I wanted, or double £5 and apply the £15 to the balance. Still seems like a cracking deal overall, and number porting was quite painless earlier this week. Pleased so far.

Thats good to know - I will just do £45 - now my new sim has arrived with the £15 UKRWG1 bundle and the £15 credit intact.

Thought the £15 with free bundle and double credit was too good to be true have been heavily promoting rwg to the rest of the family but not mentioned the double credit. For me the question is how long is the money going to be sitting in the account? I still have my initial £15 from last August so I won't be topping up now, and you never know the future. If you are likely to be spending half of it in the next year it is a great deal though.

Is it only me (am I missing something) is the only way to check your credit to dial *669# ?

I don't seem to be able to find anything even remotely useful about credit, or usage by logging in on the web page?
  • Ringing 669 also tells you the balance

Texting "ukrwg2" to 669 seems to have worked in getting me the one-off 1000 mins and 1000 texts £3.00 30 day bundle. When I text "info ukrwg2" to 669 my usage is coming off the add-on bundle. Not sure if this is supposed to work (RWG do not advertise the option to text to 669 to buy bundles but NOW mobile do) but it certainly seems to work. Weird thing is that the £3 has not come off my credit balance - yet - 48 hours later. I presume it will eventually. My free ukrwg1 bundle is still registered and data usage is still going down on that, so that should still renew for free on 1st of each month and the extra bundle will drop off after 30 days.

This is useful to know if the extra minutes and extra data one-off add ons can be done by text (ukrwg2 for calls/texts and ukrwg5 for data) as top up purchases through the website are processed manually and can take a day or two to be actioned, whereas 669 text requests and direct top-ups using the 669 top up line with credit card or shop voucher are instant (but not counted for the double top-up offer).

It would be so much more helpful if RWG had a proper functional working app where customers could easily check their credit and allowance and purchase extras (the "joyn" thing doesn't count).

And how would they pay for all this extra functionality? There's a reason why they are cheaper than all their competitors.
