My very northern grandmother always had a well stocked store cupboard, to the point that tinned pineapple is a family joke (nobody liked it but she still had ten tins from 1973)

Delurking to say never find you smug - yours is one of the diaries I most enjoy reading, just as I always enjoyed your comments on others' diaries. This is how we all learn - how to improve, what to avoid, how to negotiate situations... shared knowledge is priceless. Thank you.9

I can remember my mum having a cupboard full of bags of sugar when she once got wind of a possible shortage 🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

I don't have a permanent home at the moment but a fully stocked cupboard always made me feel more secure and a little bit happy. Especially like to have luxury cupboard stuff like posh or homemade preserves.
I had a tiny PB win too but it isn't enough when interest rates are so high
Have a good weekend @Humdinger1

My mum hasn't got the hang of the store cupboard.she tried to palm me off with some cartons of soup from 2018 on Monday so I suggested it might be a good idea to have a clear out but she said no because then the cupboard would be even emptier 😀 . I'm not sure why she has at least 6 jars of cooking sauces because they both eat mainly ready meals 🙄Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1205

I too love a good store cupboard. In my misspent youth I had a few hairy moments running out of basics, so nothing gives me greater pleasure than a stockpile of toilet paper and enough tins and frozen stuff for a zombie apocalypse. The time I had to defrost Christmas prawns to feed the cat was not my finest hour and the kitchen roll substituting TP was extremely scratchy 😬 I have an entire pantry cupboard dedicated to pet food now. You live and learn!I am still hanging on to my pb’s. I like to dream of a win and somehow it seems a bit safer and untouchable in there.

I also love a good store (and am from the south). So did my mum and grandparents. @sunaddict, the airing cupboard in my bedroom as a teenager had enough bags of sugar in to rival the local supermarket. When I met my now DH I discovered his mum did too. I understood the shortage was to do with all the hoardings! I try to keep six month supplies of various things, toothpaste, deodorants, tp etc and then only buy on special offer. That way I try not to pay full price for anything like that and it seems most things are on offer at least twice a year. It really helped with squeeze in covid times and stopped the panic. I have a ton of mandarins I brought back from my mum when she died six years ago and still haven’t used them. I don’t want to waste them. 🙈. Did anyone else used to make a glazed mandarin flan in home economics at school? Used to think it was so exotic🤣🤣6

Ooh. Not a ton of mandarins but just one tin 🤪🙃🙃 before you all think I have a serious hoarding habit🙈5
