Katiehound said:^^^^^^ gammon in the slow cooker with cola? next time I am trying it with ginger beer. You could finish it off in the oven to get a crispy glazed skin
1 no cola in the house and i dont want to buy any and 2 i want to use some of the stock for the soup.
i'm thinking if i take the water from the pressure cooker and add the veg scraps ive got in the freezer then i can leave it overnight tomorrow night in the slow cooker. then drain check for saltiness and dilute to use for stock when i make the soup on monday.
and yes to glazing. we like mustard and brown sugar in this house (not sure what other people use to glaze?)Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Some interesting comments in there. Like a few here,we have a lot of stock of tins and dry stuff. My work could be erratic back when the children were young, and we kept a lot inside 2 pantries! If money stopped, there was always grub. Anyhow,it’s a habit that has stuck. Unfortunately ,I am now not a well man ,and my life is limited now. That situation means some sorting - out! Organisational is my way.My wife’s tastes have changed too. SO. Because of illness ,my income has stopped,so we work on a strict budget for food. With what we have stored ,we are doing alright I am pleased to say. The main thing is using stuff up that we already have. We want everything in the one pantry in the back of the kitchen,so my wife knows what she has ,it’s rotated and not too much. In between,I have been ruthless by not buying anything except for the ‘perishables’ in the fridge. A lot has gone to our daughters, and a LOT of rice and pasta to our local Food Bank. That will help someone, which is good. All in date of course. And there’s still plenty for us. Today’s dinner will use diced lamb from the freezer, tinned tomatoes and tinned chickpeas. It’s a spicy casserole. There’s frozen butternut squash too,so that uses freezer stuff. Tomorrow we’ll have the remainder with pasta. Gradually getting there. Hardly a problem though is it?11

My kitchen wall clock ceased to function over New Year, it was one of those radio-controlled type, replacement, BOGOF, why, £30 so after changing the battery, blowing mechanism with compressed air, still no, so went B&M for a new one, £5 and if it only lasts a few years at my age, ok.
As my big B&M is opposite Morries popped over to top up my ginger ale, browsed for y.s. got a 1k tub of egg mayo for a £1 and bought 2 ray wings from fishmonger, so those into freezer, sheet of belly pork for dinner today, will be enough for tomorrow too.Do I need it or just want it.6 -
OK so I've taken one step forward, potentially one step back... Ages ago I bought a massive amount of stationery from vinted (£20 for over 70 sticker sheets, which would have cost £1 - £2 each). This morning I sorted through them and have listed 50+ of them back on vinted as they're really not my style.
Then I've put in an offer for some different sticker sheets on vinted which are much more my style less than the amount that I'll be seeing go if anyone buys them though so does that make it better?!

Have had to do a top-up shop for a few fresh bits to see me through the week ahead (greek style yogurt and some green veggies).Halogen oven arrived yesterday and I cooked some fish in it last night, which seemed to be successful. I’m planning on trying chicken (from the freezer) in it tonight - I have some coleslaw in the fridge which needs eating and I’ll also use peas from the freezer.
I had planned to store the halogen oven in one of the two ‘new cupboards’ created by the oven no longer working. Unfortunately, it’s a smidge too tall 🤦🏻♀️ so I need to rethink that…2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs (offset): 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07,

Well, one tube of handcream is gone! Tossed a lipstick that I'd kept to give another try, still don't like it!
Gave myself permission to toss a pair of socks that had just stretched out.
Why do we do this to ourselves? Feel that we need to keep things that just aren't working for us????
Little Dog may need surgery! I thought she'd damaged her pad leather on a salted sidewalk and had to take her to the vet. The doctor was stumped. No bleeding, some ulceration and a swollen toe. Long story short she's on antibiotics and pain meds. She's having a biopsy on Friday. There will be an amputation in her future once the biopsy results are in. The doctors are going to discuss this at their next rounds because it's unusual because it's between two toes.
Fingers crossed it's only a toe or two. Worst case scenario is Cancer and she'll become a tripawd.12 -
Hello! I'm hoping to join. I have so much yarn. So much. Using this up is hugely part of my 2023 plans. I may need to order/located some more as I have no chunky and I am getting started on my presents for the year but that is OK. I have fabric, paper, make up, spices etc. Have to make a dent!9

^^^^ If you use your yarn doubled does it = chunky?
Or change your plans! and plan to use up whatever you have without buying chunky!! ie perhaps just buy a different pattern... would that work?Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything! --
Many thanks

Not tried doubling up yet but I know it's a thing. Might have a go when I sit through an online meeting with my camera off today!
Thanks for the suggestion 😊
