Good morning all! Have managed to get two half empty mini cans of dry shampoo used up and discarded. Only have one left, so that will go in a little grab bag of toiletries for my car.
Late and lazy breakfast today with greek yogurt that is a week OOD, but only opened the tub this morning and it is still good. Unfortunately, same can't be said for the apple, haven't figured out the sainsbugs no dates codes yet, so my apples must have got into wrong order in the fridge. Think the rest of the bag will have to be cooked in something, because they have no flavour on their own.
Today is going to be a desk day, so an opportunity to spend 25 minutes with the stationery stash and find a few bits to take to work and get them used. Also need to sneakily rifle through OH's cupboards and drawers to find a couple of lost nintendo game packets so we can donate them on properly. Will have to do that really quietly so he doesn't noticeit'll be next year if I wait for him to do it.

First day back at work today 😞
Nothing taken from the freezer today as I had a cooked meal at work - I have this a couple of times a month but it only costs £2.50 so it’s a fairly inexpensive treat 🙂
Am advised that my Halogen oven/air fryer will be delivered tomorrow (although it’s coming with Yodel so… 🤞🏻🤷🏻♀️)2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

What a good thread!
I had to confront a special challenge last year in that our daughter, son-in-law and toddler (now 3) moved in in April and we were joined by our beautiful granddaughter in November. The house is stuffed to overflowing, most of which I don't have any licence to get rid of. Daughter is a drinks journalist and we have far too many bottles around, I despair when another arrives for her to taste (although she's now on maternity leave so hopefully that won't happen too often). Son-in-law has an extensive record collection and is a male Imelda Marcos when it comes to shoes. That isn't to mention all the toys and baby paraphernalia.
Before they moved in we decluttered and put the remaining books in storage, afterwards we added to our coat and shoe storage and life isn't too bad. The things I can control are my fabric stash (although I don't get as much time to quilt as I used to) which is well sorted and stored, the food and freezer contents (one drawer of freezer is full of toddler meals and breast milk though.
I've decided on my next quilt project and I think I have most, if not all, of the fabric I need to make it. I have tried a lot of different techniques over the years and have now decided to concentrate on raw edge applique which will use a lot of small pieces of fabric as well as larger pieces to be used for backing etc. I had a number of made up quilts that needed the actual final quilting so last year I paid someone to do them on their long-arm machine so I de-cluttered that stash, I just need to find homes for them.
I shall report on progress.8 -
I've managed a whole week living on what's in the larder, freezer and fridge. The only food items purchased have been milk, greens and cauliflower.Tomorrow I'll replenish the fresh fruit stock.Started a blanket with some of my yarn stash too so that's a dozen balls that won't be taking up cupboard space for much longer.7

today wasnt a no spend day unfortunately.
i thought the window cleaner was taking the month off but he knocked this afternoon. had his son with him (must have been 7 or 8) and was showing him the ropes so we got an extra good clean and he did all the silsOH painted the house back in november so its nice way to start the new year with everything looking clean and fresh. so that was £10 i was lucky to have tucked in a coat pocket.
has anyone else found the amount of actual cash they have (physical notes and coins) has almost gone to nothing over the last few years? i'm going to have to make a special trip to an atm (dont want to go into a supermarket just for cash back) just so i have a bit in the house for emergencies.
got a gammon out of the freezer and i'm thinking maybe roasted tomorrow then pea soup monday/tuesday. hopefully have enough space in the freezer soon to actually see whats in there!Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.4 -
^^^^^^ gammon in the slow cooker with cola? next time I am trying it with ginger beer. You could finish it off in the oven to get a crispy glazed skinBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
