Not doing too well so far, I found myself £20 up this week as an old debt got repaid which I had written off. Unfortunately it coincided with being in town near the big new Aldi, feeling a bit low I went in and came out with a bag of fruit veg and cereal. In my defence I did look at the cleaning things and bath stuff but didn't buy, I stuck to things I needed with a couple of nice treats too. I had no cereal in at all since the Xmas one went, so some more own brand ones won't hurt. For the first time in ages I have space in my utility cupboard instead of it being rammed full of special offer detergent. Is this good? I hope I find a special offer again when I need one!Magnolia Stellata10

Had a rare (and unexpected) day at home yesterday and, having reduced it to a manageable level, managed to take an inventory of the meat and fish left in my freezers. I still have enough for at least a month’s worth of meals, although there wouldn’t be a huge amount of variety in that month - I’m out of chicken, only 2 sausages, lots of beef - so I plan another week or two of eating from the freezer and restocking with more variety.
I finished the jumper I had been knitting for my granddaughter and consequently two part balls of yarn have gone back into the stash and one new and one part ball removed for my next project - a little cardigan with contrast edging.

@jackieblack - Sounds just like my freezer! We have plenty of chicken, beef and pork (all cooked, sliced or diced), 2 sausages, two portions of mince beef and a pack of bacon rashers. No fish (it tends to get eaten very quickly), lamb or liver so I'll be stocking up on those once there's a bit more room in the freezer.
I'm half way through knitting a jumper for DH and have one for me that just needs sewing up so progress is being made on the yarn stash. However, having spent some time this week listing what I have yet to use, I need to stop buying more!Be kind to others and to yourself too.7 -
I am back, been locked out for about a week after trying to post a comment and it all went pear shaped.
My unposted comment was to say nearly all pre-Christmas cheap veg has been used or frozen, all that`s left is a chunk of swede and a couple of carrots.
Got tempted last week with some y.s. lamb pieces which made a lovely lamb cobbler, but apart from that lapse plodding on, making meal plans is helping and I must eat fish twice a week,Do I need it or just want it.10 -
One portion of beef mince used today for a SC chilli. With the addition of tomatoes, kidney beans, red pepper, onion and grated carrot, that will make 3 meals for the two of us. Of course, once portioned and frozen, the containers will take up more room than the mince. Ah well, never mind, it means my purse can stay closed for a bit longer.Be kind to others and to yourself too.9

It`s happening again, format not found "what"
Bu$$£r, decided on mustard roasted chicken with mushrooms, bought y.s. last week and need using, left pack of thighs on draining board overnight to thaw, opened this morning to massage mustard in and leave to marinade, and a pack of 4, usually do 3s but if small make 4, still I love my meat, using frozen veg with mushrooms to bulk the meal. I have 4 pumpkin squash in store will cut a half into wedges to go with it, a 1 tray bake.Do I need it or just want it.9 -
I'm hiding our Parodontax toothpaste, so husband will finish the opened toothpaste that gives me mouth ulcers. We discussed it and he promised, he just doesn't follow up.

Hi, I've had a blip with my no spending on food challenge and have brought my online delivery forward to today. I've had an awful cold/stomach bug since Saturday. I'm sure I picked it up during my travelling to see grandkids last Thursday. Anyway I'm just starting to get my appetite back and have a craving for crisps, grapes and melon so I'm getting my delivery this afternoon. On the plus side I have lost 6lbs in weight. Does that count as decluttering 🤣🤣🤣
Up until today I have only spent money on milk. I have eaten well from my stores and had some very interesting meals. None of my fridge, freezers or cupboards are empty. Some have gaps now which is very different to them being the usual chock a block. This challenge has made me realise that I buy too much and have to stop. My biggest weakness is buying yellow sticker foods. Then putting them into the ever bulging freezer. Every time I meet up with friends for coffee I always pop into Iceland before I get my bus back home. I cannot help myself. My eyes only see the yellow stickers and I cannot ignore a bargain. I am declaring here and now that I am stopping. How I am going to do it is another matter 🤔Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

But if you use the ys stuff anyway why stop?
if you are buying things that you would not normally use then... yes... stop that!
I don't think that running down the contents of food cupboards when food prices are rising at quite a rate is such a great idea! Bulging other cupboards? Ermmmm...... try to deal with them (but not in my house!!)Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

@Katiehound The toothpaste was a tube I bought free-after-rebate, but it doesn't work for me. However, it works fine for husband. My system is usually '1 in use, 1 in stock', but sometimes I just have too many of something. For instance, I used to work for a head office in the hospitality industry and during my last year there, they did an overhaul of all the amenities and items in the five hotel chains they had. So many different product lines and products were tested! After they had made their decisions, the leftovers were put at Reception for everyone to take, but hardly anyone did. At the end of the week, I asked around, and was given permission to cart away the rest. I walked off with 7 duvets, 8 pillows, 30 pillow cases, 12 sheets, boxes of shower gels, tea sachets, complimentary chocolates, disposable razors, shower caps, 2 bathrobes, 87 guest soaps, plates, cutlery, cups, glasses (Villeroy&Boch
), etc. Not 2 the same of anything. Lots of items were passed on (pillow cases, sheets, razors, shoe shine sponges), but the others were stored to be used up. I'm nearing the end on the shower caps, the food items were all eaten or used up, and the rest will follow in due course.
