Hi chums ,rooting around in my freezer I found a salmon fishcake so just had that for lunch and I could actually taste the fish ,as I had lost my sense of taste since before Christmas I was really pleased.
My sis-in-law made me a spiced apple loaf and last night I had some with a cuppa and could taste the spicesI know it doesn't sound very exciting, but when eerything you eat for the past 6 weeks has tasted of cotton wool I am beaming at the moment.
My eldest granddaughter is popping in today on her way home from her course and said she will do as yesterday When she came yesterday she was bearing a plate with some sandwiches chicken mayo, and ham and coleslaw along with a sausage roll and some strawberries and grapes. It was left over from the buffet lunch laid on for teachers.
So a plate came home for me for my tea and very nice it was as well.I had the grapes this morning chopped up with yogurt for breakfast. Nothing went to waste at all

It’s good that you’re recovering your sense of taste Jackie.
So far I’ve used up some bubble bath and a face mask but I’ve several bottles/and jars that are nearly empty. I’ve bought some hair conditioner that was half price in Boots.
I’ve also bought 200g yarn, but donated 450g of odd balls leftover from projects. They are yarns that I know I won’t use. I’ve knitted a pair of mittens and am probably about 50% through a jumper.
The freezer stocks are reducing though I did stock up a bit today.7 -
Well, once again life/family stuff has derailed my plans 🤦🏻♀️ - having one parent in hospital (120 miles round trip away) for major surgery and having to give extra support to the other (with vascular dementia) in their absence/recovery, at the same time as my daughter returning to work and being on Grannie duty (I have my granddaughter overnight and for one day each week - they live 65 miles round trip in the opposite direction) while working 4 full days each week in school has resulted in me being less organised than I would like, forgetting to take meat from the freezer to thaw some days and impromptu grocery shopping when I happened to be passing a supermarket as I didn’t know when my next opportunity might be.
On the plus side, I have restocked with sausages - I only like one supermarket’s premium brand sausage and it’s a supermarket that is not very convenient for me to get to, with the bonus that they happened to be on offer 🎉
I have taken another 3 toiletries from the stash, but also bought one more which was added (bought to meet minimum spend for free delivery, but was half price)
Hopefully things have settled down a bit now and I can get back on track 🤞🏻, although parents will still need extra support for a few months and I have my granddaughter for an extra day during school holidays as her nursery contract is term time only.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

I can see a little room in my freezer now, did buy some y.s. sausage last week, but I was right out of them and find if I want something quick they fit the bill.
Ate out on Friday, friends 70th, lunch at another friend on Sunday, her son and DIL visiting, I ended up with the remains yesterday, generous amount of leg of lamb, also in the parcel was a chunk of ham, had just fetched out half a tenderloin to defrost for yesterday, so that was able to go back in freezer, but I had forgotten I had spotted some liver in freezer and had put it in a bowl into fridge to defrost for today, so liver today, with some of the sprouts also in the parcel, ham egg and chips tomorrow.Do I need it or just want it.5 -
I received an email yesterday from my yarn supplier highlighting a sale on my favourite yarn. I was tempted to order some but haven't succumbed - in fact, I've deleted the email so temptation isn't staring me in the face every time I open my Inbox.
There's more than enough to keep me going for a good while and they'll have another sale at some point.
@jackieblack - You're a busy woman, I'm not surprised you're less organised than usual! And breathe .....Be kind to others and to yourself too.5 -
Thanks for your kind words YorksLass , I keep thinking "I'll just get this week over and things will calm down", but that doesn't seem to happen... I have unsubscribed from marketing emails from my regular yarn websites, but my daughter keeps 'helpfully' forwarding me the ones she receives
More hospital appointments for parent this week, and looks like she'll be back having chemo again shortly - to be confirmed during upcoming appointments over the next few weeks.
Granddaughter, as ever, is a joy and is my little ray of sunshine. I feel very lucky that my boss was agreeable to me changing my hours in order to be able to have her each week, and grateful for her understanding about needing time for parents' various medical appointments.
Stash-wise, I have finished another cardigan so a part ball of dk back in and 4 balls of 4ply taken out ready for the next one - a new pattern that I haven't knitted before, but have been wanting to try.
Also, toothpaste and talcum powder taken out.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Still nibbling away and some space appearing in the freezers, got the £5 off £25 spend for l1d1, needs spending by Wednesday, so for best value will top up some meats and butter.Do I need it or just want it.7

Skein of sock yarn is now a wrap scarf. Left over bits will be incorporated into the ongoing mitred square blanket.
Multiple sample sachets used up on holiday. Zip lock bag was empty when it came time to pack up, so I'm feeling virtuous.8 -
Had some space in my freeze to grab some yellow stickered ciabatta rolls in sainsbury yesterday, so was pleased that I already knew there was enough gap and knew exactly how many to purchase to fit in there too.
Have more space in the cupboards too so last shopping delivery was put away more easily and with less stress.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?3 -
Have finally finished the last bottle of facial moisturiser from my stash. It lasted a very long time so that's taught me I don't need a spare yet!
Like @newlywed, I'm finding it less stressful and easier to deal with shopping deliveries since I've cut back on groceries. Somehow it's easier to decide what to eat when there's a bit less choice, not to mention less chance of waste.Be kind to others and to yourself too.7
