Happy Belated Birthday! Abbafan1972, enjoy your lovely presents.Quite an expensive month January has turned out. A new pair of much needed prescription glasses set me back €730, I've never paid this much for glasses ever. Dh bought a pair of Meindl walking shoes, which cost €171. We got back from town on friday and the dental hygienist bill had landed which was another €174, not to mention the tax bill for €695. We treated ourselves to some beef noodles from the wok restuarant which was a sensible €7.My new top looks and feels lovely, so pleased with it. We did the housework on saturday afternoon, and relaxed for the rest of weekend. I've done my hands and feet. I also need a haircut but haven't booked anything yet, my last appointment was august 22.@Wednesday2000, lovely pictures, reminders of good days spent with friends.@sugarbaby125, great food and amazing bargains for entertainment, I really miss london for all of that.@liberty_lily I love your taste in house decor, especially the lampshade, beautiful.@helensbiggestfan, my film this weekend was "Dean Spanley" which I love for it's Wisbech setting, beautiful sets and great actors.Have a great week everyone.Grocery challenge year budget €3K Jan €190 Feb €225 Mar €313 Apr €202 May €224 June €329 July €518 Aug €231Sep €389 Oct €314 Nov €358 Dec €335 Total spent €3628

Morning all.@flossyblog that is a shocking amount for glasses. Where do you live? (Because of the Euros).Hubby recently had new glasses and his were only £120 for 2 pairs from Asda, they have a proper opticians in one of our local big stores and they are really nice. He had his eyes tested at Scrivens, but refused to pay what they were charging for just one pair.My birthday was lovely thank you all.Speak to you all later. Stay fab.xxStriving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.676

Hello Ladies,
Flossybog, I really enjoy living in London. Especially because it has great public transport and I have my 60 plus Oyster card and do not have to pay to travel on public transport across London.
Yesterday afternoon, I went to the Ritzy cinema to watch the film Babylon. In some aspects, this film had some really grotesque scenes which had me turning away from the screen, which seemed gratuitous and not necessary to the story telling. Once again Margot Robbie gave an outstanding performance. There were also some scenes of an orgy which were shocking to me and I did not feel that these scenes were necessary. Overall, the film was somewhat of a disappointment to me, so it was a 7/10 for me.
I only had to pay £5.20 for my ticket after a £3 discount for my Picturehouse membership.6 -
Belated birthday wishes @Abbafan1972
@sugarbaby125 sometimes there is no need for too much, enough to be left to the imagination keeps the watcher watching IMO.
@flossyblog oh wow! I bet you look and feel fab in them.
Been reviewing clothes that deserve my time in doing their job better. Those that do not have slowly been moved on

Sugarbaby your stories of all there is to do in London make me quite envious. You also make the most of it which is such a positive thing.
Hope you had a great birthday Abbafan.7 -
@Abbafan1972 I live in Holland, it is a shocking amount, my previous optician who retired back in 2018, was very reasonable. I feel like I've been politely mugged.@sugarbaby125 I loved my time in London, so many different venues, museums, restaurants, events etc. A limitless place of hidden gems.@2Scratters I think looking and feeling good about what you wear makes you feel confident. I do have a uniform/formula on items that I stick to for my body shape. I don't have many clothes at any one time, I think that goes back to childhood, where we only had a handful of items but I always cherished them. A particular incident when I was 8, my sister and I were treated to an extra pair of sandals that summer. We bought an identical pair with flowers on top they were so beautiful, I can still picture them wrapped in tissue paper in a beautiful box. I didn't want to spoil them and waited until we were going to a party by which time my feet had grown and I never got to wear them. I was left feeling rather forlorn and remember thinking I'm never going to do that again. I'm sure I cried as well.Grocery challenge year budget €3K Jan €190 Feb €225 Mar €313 Apr €202 May €224 June €329 July €518 Aug €231Sep €389 Oct €314 Nov €358 Dec €335 Total spent €3628

Hello Ladies,
2 Scratters, unfortunately in the film Babylon, nothing was left to the viewers imagination.
Thanks Purple Pixie
Tuesday evening, I went to Streatham Space Project for the Wannabe Comedy Open Mic event. It was a really fun night and the tickets were completely free, so with free travel on the bus, I had an enjoyable, free night out.I laughed out loud so many times.
This event is a new event, to showcase new, up and coming comedians.

good morning all
I've booked haircut for tomorrow, looking forward to it. I see they've put their prices up again, still miles cheaper that every other hairdresser at €23.

Hello All
I have only just found this thread so you have given me plenty of reading and thought for myself.
My name is Sam and I'm 38. I have gotten into that Frump zone of living in leggings and baggy clothing, no energy, no enthusiasm and really just feel like my husband and kids deserve so much better. I cant even blame the tiredness on kids because they are 18 and 12!
My go too outfit of choice is leggings and a baggy jumper to hide the extra wobble and my hair is usually scraped back into a messy bun and Ill admit I can go quite a few days without brushing it!
I'm being weaned off medication for depression, had horrible agoraphobia during Lockdown and have severe social anxiety but I am working through them and can now go out on 5k walks with no problem although shops can sometimes give me issues! At least I don't cry on the doorstep now at the thought of leaving my house.
I was diagnosed with PCOS just before Christmas which was a shock but explains a lot and have recently had blood tests to try and help with treatment etc as I'm the heaviest I've ever been and am desperate to get some weight off.
Anyway when the new year came I set myself the word for my 2023 was going to be IMPROVE.
IMPROVE my mental health - self care/time for me.....
IMPROVE my health with losing some weight / vitamins/ better eating etc
IMPROVE my hobbies - I like to craft so that helps a lot with my stress
IMPROVE my garden - I enjoy growing my own veg so want to better it this year
IMPROVE my home - declutter and decorate
IMPROVE my social life - I want to get out more/make new friends even if its penpals/see old friends etc
IMPROVE my activity - Ive been going on long walks, walking dogs, hoping to hike in the summer
I did see as well that one of the first things you have recommended is to wear perfume.
I was literally thinking I should order some as I don't have any and I've just remembered my husband did get me some for Christmas from a little boutique shop in Worcester so I'm going to go and find that out in a minute and put it in the bathroom to wear every day from now on.
@sugarbaby125 I think I might avoid that movie then as thats not really something Id want to watch
@flossyblog I use to live in Germany and we would often go to Holland for a market to get cheeses and meats and the food there is amazing. Me and my sister still talk about our love for the place now years later.
@Abbafan1972 happy belated birthday wishes.
I look forward to getting to know you all better and Im off to read the previous threads to catch upTime to find me again7 -
