Sugarbaby that was a lovely thing to do.
I'm having a terrible time with everything suddenly falling apart. Last month it was a new washing machine and new microwave, now I need a new boiler and I have a problem with the roof so I've got someone coming to look at that and it looks like it has caused some damp that has damaged the render. So I need someone to fix that and then it will need painting.
Stop the world I want to get off.4 -
Purple Pixie, I try to help family who are even worse off than I am when they need it.
Oh dear, you have had a very difficult start to 2023, I hope that your roof, the damp and the render will all be repaired to your satisfaction.3 -
Hello Ladies,
I sold the other 2 items that I had listed on eBay. I received payment from eBay today.3 -
Well done. That is good.1

Just checking in, as there haven’t been any posts for a few days.Had a couple of disappointing weeks at Slimming World, but managed to lose 1lb last week.Weigh day again today and am hoping for a loss this week, but haven’t been doing as much walking this week, due to things beyond my control.Speak to you all soon. xxStriving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.673

i won an Occupation Order on the house so my years of stress will be coming to an end now. As a result I've been quiet as simply exhausted and very behind at work.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -
Abba Fan 1972 well done on getting back on track with SW and losing a pound in weight. Any loss is a cause for celebration.

Hi everyone and welcome to the new posters 😁
I've not posted recently because, like many of you, we've been experiencing pretty turbulent times -
DH started his new job which he enjoys (it's actually a return to his old design work, a field he has years of experience in) although he's back on the lower rungs which I guess is better for his stress levels than when he was in a managerial position with lots of responsibilities!
However, we had to survive five weeks without income so were reliant on sales of our unwanted stuff, having exhausted our savings on the massive DIY building projects over the past year. That was really tough as some weeks we had good sales, others none at all. We survived though 😉
He did eventually get a GP appointment and is due to start counselling - not just for the depression etc, but for something truly horrific that happened to him as a child. He's also awaiting the results of tests for an unrelated health problem which we're trying not to let worry us too much.
The customer he was having all those problems with has now decided to threaten him with legal action (for almost £20k!!!) as she's claiming he did a poor job 😪 This is causing lots of sleepless nights at the moment.
As a result of all this stressful stuff, we've made absolutely zero progress on the house since Christmas. However, we have decided to sell up and return home to England from Wales at our earliest convenience. We are both very excited about this!
On a positive note, I have plans for a new artistic venture that will hopefully - if only gradually - replenish our depleted coffers.
And DS has taken control of the gardening business in Brighton, as a result of which he's far happier. We are delighted too as we can see it's much better suited to his temperament than law (which was his intended career path after graduation) or web design which he'd been doing more recently 😀
We did also receive the £200 Alternative Fuel Payment for off-grid homes (because we don't have mains gas) a couple of weeks back 😉
Wednesday - glad you're on the back end of the home improvements, even if your savings have taken a hit.
Purple Pixie - sorry to hear you've been having issues with your property - why do these things always happen at once?!?
Watty - well done on getting the Occupation Order on your house at last!
