Hi Brambling
Can I join please ?
I really do need to lose weight. Went for my 5 year check at the GPS and it’s showing that I’m pre diabetic so I’ve to get into good habits and lose weight. I went back to work full time in autumn and got into bad habits eating too much beige food and takeaways.
I weighed myself this morning and I’m 13st 11.5 lb so I’m aiming to lose as much as possible at first and then settle into a pound a week (if that makes sense)
Good luck everyone

Hello
Unearthed the scales this morning for my starting weight and am half a stone less than this time last year which has cheered me up immensely.I’ll start slowly this week and just be more mindful of what I’m eating and how much I’m moving. I won’t cut anything out for now there will be plenty of time for that later on in my journey.Old Style Weight Loss Challenge 2025

Cuddlymarm did you want to add a target for the quarter?

Hi @Brambling can I join please? I had a crummy year last year and the weight piled on, but I'm determined that I will get it off again this year and start taking better care of myself! I think joining this group of like-minded people will help!
I'd like to lose 10lb this quarter, which seems a manageable start considering I have eaten and drunk far too much for a long time.
What do y'all do with leftover Xmas foods? We still have some Xmas goodies to eat up (mostly cheese, but other goodies too). We don't want to bin it, that just seems wasteful! Shall try to balance them out with healthier foods, and ensure that I am exercising again, as exercise went out the window last year as well! Slightly problematically it's my birthday weekend this weekend too
But I signed back up to my ballet class, first one back is tonight- I'm going to wobble about all over the place, but I know I'll feel amazing for it!
Am planning to cut back on alcohol this month too, I think that will help esp after all the Xmas indulgence. I have two events where I am allowing myself to have a drink (both birthday related), but aside from that I will refrain.

Oh, and I'll be weighing tomorrow morning so I know what the damage is, and can give an update next Wed/Thurs on any loss/gain. @Brambling do you prefer to know loss/gain earlier in the week/on a certain day?Jan Grocery Challenge 2023: £181.18/£400

Hi Clutterbug welcome aboard and good luck
You can weigh in what ever day suits you please highlight in bold so I can see it and only 1 or 0.5 as my brain chart can't cope with any other increments
regulars on the challenge will tell you I have 'meno' moments and at least once a challenge will give your WI to another person so it's always good to check and don't be worried about 'poking' me to amend
Leftover Xmas food - it does depend what you have left TBH as i live on my own i made a point of not over shopping this year to avoid themhave you room in the freezer to freeze any of it things like hard cheese freezes ok although it may be crumbly afterwards, I have some green and black chocolate bars in there from last year! If it's chocolates or biscuits which are unopen what about your local food bank? Personally if it's something you enjoy (last year for me it was a large box of Guylian chocolates) i decanted into a container and put out of sight so out of temptation and treated myself to one every night after dinner with my cuppa. I find if i leave stuff in sight for example on the table I'm tempted to have 'just the one' every time I walk pass
however if it stuff you are eating because its there but not a favour or something you really enjoy try and pass it on
this year I'm going to only try and only eat 'naughty' (for want of a better word) food which i enjoy to eat and not because 'it's there and it will do' when i have mouth hunger, bored watching TV in the evening or having a biscuit / cake in someone's home

Thanks @Brambling for the welcome and the advice! Haha I'm not sure my weighing scales are fancy enough to do anything more than 0.5 increments anyway!
I'm definitely going to hide some of the snack food, and have asked my hubbie to take the fruitcake into his work (it's delicious but I would want to eat it all!). The cheese is a mixture of soft and harder cheese, so I'll take a look and see what we can do with it- hadn't thought about freezing it! I'm partial to a cheese and chutney sandwich which if i am sensible with my other food/snacks for the day isn't a terrible lunch, plus would save some pennies too which is another goal for the year!Jan Grocery Challenge 2023: £181.18/£400

I’d love to join the challenge if I may? I’ve started IF which has led to a 2 kilo loss in the past couple of weeks, hitch of course have included Christmas so I’m pleased. I’m going to aim for 7 kilos - which is only the start of what needs to go!5

@Brambling I could have written so much of what you say here about mouth hunger, and just the one when you walk past! I live alone too and can easily eat through a pack of chocs alone if I start them.I enjoy prepping at the weekend so last weekend, I did one weigh session and boxed up various bits (pasta, seeds, nuts) in advance for each day this week to help avoid the ‘one or two while I’m cooking’ - I’m going to try that with chocs as puds for next week!Grocery Challenge
