Maybe medically fit bubbs but certainly not good in himself.
I am astonished that they are even thinking about discharging him unless they think he may be more settled at home.

Oh bubbs I'm so sorry to hear that; it's going to be very hard for your mum with him at home but as @beanielou says perhaps they think he'll be calmer being with your mum at home all the time.  I do hope your mum can cope once he's home and if she can't she will let them know and get something sorted.  Are they arranging for anyone to help her, at least to start with?

Morning all, weather not looking too bad at the moment but forecast to rain later.  Think I might get a bit of washing done shortly and change the bed but don't think I'll wash the bedding until tomorrow when it's forecast to be dry all day but then again I might just get it done and leave it in the basket as won't be able to get the washing and the bedding on the airer, decisions, decisions?

    Today's plan:

    B - fry up with sausages - P; S; F
    L - toasted cheese sandwich - HEA2; HEB
    D - duck breast, roast potatoes, veg - P; S; F

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    HEB - bread
    Syns - 2 x rum and ginger beer 5

    Have a good day everyone.
  • Bubbs, I’m so sorry to hear that you are in this position with your dad. It’s going to be really hard for your mum coping with him on her own - even though you will be helping where you can. My heart just aches.

Ive stepped on the scales this morning and, woohoo, lost a whopping 4.5lbs. I knew the Chinese had made me hold some water. Anyway, festive weight gone plus another 1/2lb so only 13.5 to go.
I am very happy as I am as slow loser.
Today I am having a sort out of my cupboards, fridge and freezer. I’m part of the grocery challenge and want to use up lots of part used packets and single LO portions in my meal plan over the next couple of weeks. Not everything is sw friendly but I’ll incorporate it because I am not putting money in the bin.
At the moment, the only plan is HEa milk
    B coffee and a banana
Hopefully I’ll be back to update it.
    Enjoy your Sunday!

    Morning all,

Thanks for sharing @bubbs - I'm so sorry this is happening to your DDad x
I agree with others that he might be calmer in his own surroundings but definitely will need some care assistants to help your DMum to cope, plus a hospital bed if they can arrange that? It's awful when they look so thin - same happened to my DDad when he was in ICU for 8 weeks. I can't believe the care (or lack of) that he's receiving on the ward though - I mean, no water? Just basic humane treatment. Please keep us updated and feel free to offload here as an outlet xx

We visited Eltham Palace yesterday - very interesting place. Unfortunately the weather was too grotty to walk in the gardens, so we plan to go back at some point before our EH membership expires in May. We did some housework when we got home and then had a naughty Chinese takeout with DD and DS2 - tut tut. To be fair this was the first meal since Boxing Day when we'd all been here together. I had a nice bath and early night as had interrupted sleep on Friday night. Woke up at 8am today with a bunged up nose, so now have that stage of the lurgy to deal with!

    Food today:
    B - poached egg, 1 x WM toast - P, 1/2 HEB
    L - HM BNS soup - S
D - roast lamb, SW roast potatoes, broccoli, carrots, gravy - P, S, 1 syn
    HEA - milk
1/2 HEB - hi fi bar
    Syns - 1

    Have a good day everyone,
    Coxy

    Morning all.

Thanks everyone, it was the shock, we both just looked at each other and burst into tears 😥, she knows it will be hard and she knows she will not be able to go anywhere without someone else there. Yes she is having a care package this is what we are waiting for but the longer he is in there i fear the worse he will get as it's the environment he is in and he is copying, he never did this before he went in there :(

Beanie they think he will settle and we think he will settle as he did when we was there

Coxy it is not humane, if they gave  him what he could eat it would help!!

MM well done on your loss👏👏

So sorry Bubbs, heartbreaking to see a loved one like that 🥺
My step Dad went through similar after a stroke. Broke my heart seeing him go from a Big man to hardly a bump in the bed. I was devastated when he forgot who I was 😭😭😭😭
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

Feeling for you and your mum @bubbs. 🤗 I agree that getting your dad home has to be the best thing just now where he can be spoiled a bit with his favourite foods and your mum's home cooking. I can't speak specifically  for your local hospital but it seems that the NHS is hanging by a thread and there's little on offer but the most urgent of medical help. From friends' experiences, that's certainly the case around here. Do vent on here if it helps. 😊

That's a brilliant loss @Matron_Midge.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I do so envy you seeing off your festive gain so rapidly. Well done!

Same dilemma here @joedenise. The washing basket is full. I think I'll do a smallish wash and dry it overnight but leave the bedding for tomorrow.

We went to Eltham Palace back in March @Coxy11 and like you couldn't enjoy the gardens so would like to go back. I loved the Art Deco interiors and was amazed at the mod cons that they had then like en suite bedrooms. It belonged to a Courtauld (of fabric fame and fortune) nephew and another nephew established the Courtauld gallery by Somerset House which, by coincidence, we visited the next day.

The PON curry was a big success. All I'd say is that my chilli powder must be much hotter than the one they used!  Fortunately, I cooked it and tasted it in the afternoon so could take some action as it was so hot it burned  my mouth (in a spicy way). I reheated it with a sliced potato and added some more tomato puree and then the yogurt which cooled it down a bit. I kept a portion for my lunch today, reheated with a few mushrooms and spring onions and I'll definitely make it again but go a bit easier on the chilli powder.

    Today's EE plan-
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, scrambled eggs, ham (P)
L- JP (F), LO curry with extra veg (P,S), salad bits (S)
D- roast chicken (P), LM stuffing, SW roast potatoes (F), many vegetables (S)
Syns- HM gravy 4, weekend wine😁

Hi everyone, @bubbs I’m so sorry reading about your Dad and the awful situation in the hospital. I hope he gets home soon and settles.
Well done to all the losers and maintainers. I lost 3 yesterday so almost all of the Christmas gain off again and now have 17lbs to target. I’ve stuck a chart on the fridge and I’ll colour in each pound as it goes, anything to spur me on 😂

I had a scone with my coffee when I had mum out this morning. She’s not been well, and will be going into hospital for a barrage of tests over the next week or two.  She’s obviously worried and therefore not eating much. Not an excuse, the scone was to encourage her to eat but I did enjoy it and no idea on syns - it was huge!
Morrison’s fish cake with salad for dinner tonight.

Well done Jelly, don't worry i had that begian bun yesterday.......sorry not sorry 16 syns.

Hope your Mum gets on ok.

    Dad update

Mum said he was a different person today, so def the water infection,  but they wouldn't let my sister in , so Mum went in then came out and she went in for half hr

He said to her i could do with a drink, i said yes because they don't give him one! Mum has told them if you give him a drink he will drink it , but he won't get one himself, anyway he had 3 cups 👏👏 Mum took some orange and said to him do you want orange? he said no i want the black one 🤣 i said if you had took blackcurrant he would have wanted orange 😂

She then said do you want a banana? she took them yesterday, he said yes and she said he woolfed it down, but that is because he can't eat the food they have on the menu!

Mum complained today as not one thing was dairy free for lunch, the auxiliary said if you turn it over you tick allergy, Mum said can you guarantee it though as it will make him really poorly, they said yes should be fine 🙄. should be

When My sister went in the nurse said ooo who is this? he said my daughter xxxx so he knew her as well.

Mum said he wasn't shouting like yesterday either and he let her help him change his clothes and have a shave .
