@Divingmad you are on fire with your totals for the week.
It definitely becomes an addictive action and the benefit of on line banking giving easy access.
So far this month I have already moved £50 to a better interest rate account. Tilly at 30.71 with a Balance at 32.90. One transaction was for the princely sum of .03p. It was some interest from another account which ended up getting closed down and making things tidier.

  • Hi all,
The princely sum of £13.49 was tidied this week, comprising of £12.50 tidy ups and 99p interest.
So that's £10.99 into the loan repayment account and £2.50 off the CC bill.

  • Morning all,
Well, it's the end of the week and the princely sum of £24.46 has accumulated in the Tilly tidy accounts 😀
So that's £20 to the loan repayment pot and £4.46 paid off the CC bill.
I'm quite liking these figures, my CC debt is on 0% at the moment, so the bulk of my tidying goes into a saving pot to pay it off when the offer expires. Seeing the pot total accumulating each week is quite encouraging as I thought it would take years to clear the debt off, but it's looking a lot easier to achieve now.

  • Morning just about Peeps,
@Divingmad you are on a double win with saving your 0% overpayments for later. I agree that seeing it making small steps really is good to see and the fact money is not being missed it goes to show how we can waste our hard earned pennies.
My August total did not go up and I have this morning moved the 32.90 into my ISA account. This month I have closed 4 savings accounts down that when finished did not give a good return for my money. It has tidied things up and helping me focus on less accounts for now that have a better interest rate too.

  • Morning all,
It's that time again and this week the total was £20.81.
@2Scratters I'm toying with closing an account in a well known building society as it pays a pants interest rate. My only reason for keeping it open is I have a lot of spare change that I've been paying in occasionally and still have about £50 left to go, it's either that or take it to one of those coin machines and pay a percentage fee for changing it. They say loyalty pays, but I think it's time to cut the ropes and depart ways from it.

  • @Divingmad I feel your pain about loyalty and some building societies that do not pay very well. I have kept open a local one to Lancashire as it came very close to being closed and moved on. However it transpired they have upped their rates to be more in line with the rest, so it remains for now.
I was in a queue at one of my banks on the high street, I have an account there yet had never been inside in 8 years. Was in the queue to change some old £20 notes for an elderly neighbour.(Turns out any bank would have changed them  :/
There were 2 ladies attempting to put quite a large sum of change into the counting machine and it kept jamming. They had been messing about waiting for it to be resolved for over 1 hour. I suggested they would have been quicker paying it into the post office but would need to be bagged up. They had previously had it bagged it up then decided to do it this way.
Also have you considered a local or small business needing change as they get charged from the banks?
Current Balance for my Tilly tidy this month is at £24.75

  • Hi All,
I'm back with another weekly total of £11.64, so that'll be £10 into the loan repayment fund and £1.64 off the CC bill. My total tidy up for the month comes in at a staggering £70.40!!!
@2Scratters, I hadn't thought of approaching a small business to see whether they would need it! We have a community shop in the village so will pop in there during the week and see whether I can off load some in there.
    Take care and happy tidying

  • Hello  :)

    Can I join in xx

I like the idea of not noticing the odd pence here and there, id like to overpay on my mortgage.

Do you put it into a savings account for the year?

    Daily or monthly?

    thank you  <3

  • @Divingmad @2Scratters - I have an instant access savings account balance is 0.01p so ive topped it up with my first Tilly £9.45.

@Chezzer Hi you are more than welcome here.
Well done on your first Tilly Tidy. It really doesn't matter how much you manage to move, just do it. That is a good chunk and fingers crossed for you mortgage overpayments. Even when paying the OP's you can also get credit back to your mortgage account (it does not get refunded to you) so it becomes a double win (or possible triple win as you save up in the savings account that attracts some interest too)
