#46. 2175 total cleared now after monthly minimums and overpays. I'm about a quarter of the way there I think 🤔 might be tight to pay much later this month, I still haven't got round to selling anything cluttering up my house. After bank holiday I must do that.
Hope you all have a Happy Easter weekend. 🐣

Morning everyone. Unfortuntely I've not been as active as I'd like both on here and on clearing my debt. I haven't added to the debt which is a good thing, but not paid off anymore than what I have ATM as what I do pay off ends up being added on again.
I work in education and my hours have been cut right down and may be cut again come next week. So things are really tight atm and I'm just trying to get by for the foreseeable to be honest. I either will have to leave my job of 20 years, or will have to take on a 2nd job which tbh isn't what I would like as after a day in school I'm exhausted as it is and couldn't go out and do another job.
I'm not allowed to work extra hours during the year so I can get paid for school holidays etc, and I can't get a job for 2 weeks here, 1 week there or 7 weeks in the summer. I need to find someway of making things work as I use the unpaid school holidays for hospital, dental appointments etc and I also use that time off to help care for my elderly parent so my siblings can go on holiday with their own families and get a much needed break. Plus if I were to take on a 2nd job during school holidays I wouldn't actually get a holiday or any time off myself, and after a school year you need time to relax, re-focus and mentally rest from everything.
I'm off this week for Easter holidays, but again these are unpaid so I'm losing a weeks pay this month again.
I'm intending to sit down with my finances, and see if I can make a decision about my future and how I can afford to live basically.
Any I have 3 more wages of the school year, then thats it until October, and I need to put money aside from the low wage to get me until October, so things most definitley need to change for me here.
I'm going to have a read through the forum and see if there is any helpful hints and tips I can get to try and help me.Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -
I'm sorry that you're having such a hard time @IrishRose12, and I hope things do get better for you. I think the best thing is not to pressure yourself with your debts, as you are about to come into a period of no pay, and so you'll need to be in a position to be able to stay afloat until your pay is reinstated in October 2023. Have you checked if you are claiming all benefits that you're eligible for? As things like Universal Credit you can get it when you're working and it'll give you some money when your pay is lower like unpaid half terms or non-existent (like summer holidays). UC really helps to top up my wages and keeps me afloat.
