So I signed the title transfer, and it’s gone back to my ex’s new lender’s solicitor, with a letter asking for my 10k buy out money to be received by the end of the month.

Once I have my cash, the offer to purchase will go to my seller to sign, come back to my guy, and then we’re obligated to buy/sell and we can complete.

Loose completion date is Friday 5th May, but that’s dependent on me getting my cash promptly.

We’re taking it right down to the wire! I’m not going to celebrate until I have my keys in my hand.

    It’s looking promising … 🤞

Don’t worry about the small indulgences / bad habits that are getting you through atm. You will be so busy setting up home once you get the keys, all of that will fall away without you even noticing 😊

So my ex confirmed that his new mortgage went through today, so my solicitor should be receiving my funds tomorrow as expected. I’ll get confirmation when they’ve arrived, and then we can arrange completion asap.

I sincerely hope we do complete on the 5th - the friend I’ve been staying with these past 4 months has asked that I ‘find somewhere to stay’ from 4th - 9th May, as she has someone coming to visit and they’ll be sleeping in my room.

I’ve arranged a piece of floor with another friend for the 4th, but if I don’t complete on the 5th then my other options are an Airbnb, sleep in my car, or fly to Glasgow to stay with my BFF (cheaper than the Airbnb option!).

Crossing everything that I’ll be opening my own front door in 8 days time!

    No funds through yet…

Been frantically refreshing my emails, and the Halifax bank app where the old mortgage is - still showing the balance, not cleared yet.

Trying not to freak out too much, not doing a very good job.

I emailed my solicitor at 2pm to check for any updates. He’d emailed the new lender’s solicitor just before I got in touch, asking for updates.

2 hours later, and still nothing.

The old mortgage is still sat in full balance.

I also messaged my ex to say nothing has come down yet, and we’ve had no word from the new lender’s solicitor.

I don’t know who is meant to be chasing what right now, but I’m Not Pleased.

    An update??

My ex got a text message update from the lender’s solicitor at 17:27, confirming the completion of his new mortgage?

The Halifax app still hasn’t been cleared, and my solicitors closed at 5pm, so there’s no way of knowing if they have my cash until 9am tomorrow.

    Hoping for the best??

  • The mortgage balance on the app doesn’t update on the same day a payment is made. Try not to worry - solicitors do this day in day out.
