Hello. Wow, you've all been so busy.
Babies have now gone home and there's no more babysitting until next Friday so no excuses for not flying I suppose!
DSiL is doing well.
I am currently flopped in my chair with a glass of fizz and some sweets.
My turn to cook tea tonight so quick stir fry it is.Spend less now, work less later.9 -
This week has passed by in a blur of my reading the thread a bit but not posting.....or maybe I did on about Wed.
Anyway to summarise the remains of the week/year:
- house now fully cleaned and tidied as BIL arrives tomorrow.
- presents put away, in general.
- front door 'star' wreath has been replenished with some new flowers.
- remaining leftover flowers added to some foliage (but no glittery stuff) to make a table centrepiece with a candle in the middle. That freed the kitchen up of a bucket and a jug which held the leftovers.
- vague menu planned for while BIL is here.
- sent off a load of e-New Year's cards and an e- birthday card. Wrote 2 emails.
- reasonably priced tickets bought for the 3 of us to attend a classical concert at the church of St Martin in the Fields (Trafalgar Square) as we're going into London on Monday to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition (free 'cos we are members). Chain Italian meal booked nearby using the voucher I got earlier in the month so one main course is free.
- Did fairly well in sales in that I got new, thicker, curtains for the front door area in an effort to keep out the cold; they were 20% off. Also got Christmas 'wrapping fabric' 20% off and cards half price. Those were all planned bargains. Was rather disappointed that nothing much else was around that I even remotely needed, in fact I was quite shocked how many shops have virtually packed away Christmas. Got lots of YS when I went into a supermarket yesterday though.
- weather has stopped any running or outdoor swimming but I did a gym swim yesterday.
- I don't like staying up on New Year's eve unless there is anything really good on TV; I find the whole thing most depressing. However I have got smoked salmon in the fridge, a Creole Bean Casserole in the slow cooker, to be accompanied by red rice and spicy coleslaw (DB and SIL) gave us all ingredients and the recipe for a present ; for dessert I have make an easy but yummy whipped lemon pudding (mix lemon curd, a whisked egg white and some double cream - that's it! Only this time I peeled and mixed in some satsuma pieces as our NDN got a load of satsumas from Olio and gave us half). So I'm about to do a bit of drum practice then change into slightly less scruffy clothes and serve up the smoked salmon while we probably watch the Sondheim Songs.
Wishing all of you a very happy new year, you are all great x xRemember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -
Evening folks
bubble bath managed and bathroom cleaned
We are still testing positive and feeling poorly. I have to have 2 negative tests to return to work.I have taken the tree down but still have cards up. I have sorted the airing cupboard and filled the ironing basket.

Fayolle said:DH declared the kitchen window unmendable, needing a “person” to fix it. Enter Super Flylady **swishes her cape for effect** brandishing a screwdriver and a can of WD4o. Result - window now opens and can be securely shut. Hah!Ditto what Round saidSo pleased the chemo went smoothly Valli.Having a nap doesn't sound decadant to me Ionafan, it sounds sensible.ASB we will need fruit and veg but we can get those from the Co-op at the bottom of the road. Apart from that I'd be delighted to join you in the No Shopping in January Challenge right here if you're up for it. I didn't buy much extra for Christmas but we've got a lot of food that I should use, even though it will need me to think outsdie the box to use some of it up. We have pizza on Saturday night, always, and we've got a surfeit of bread flour at the moment so I've just made two of Jamie's pizza bases. Very pleased with them indeed.I also tempered some plain chocolate that was far too bitter for me to eat as chocolate, so we now have quite a pile of chocolate Brazils, and I made some chocolate bark for Belovéd with sultanas. He doesn't like nuts in his chocolate and I do.I too have been known to chuck the chicken stock down the drain and save the bones and veggies in the past.Better is good enough.7

SIL rang and said she had a pukey bug 'but it might be something I ate' ... fluff that.. I ain't going near any germies.. nope nope nope!!!!!I have one with diabetes and 3 with low immunity including myself.. it is not worth the risk .. and I have a severe case of emetophobia.. I wouldn't be able to eat for days until I was absolutely certain it wouldn't happen..
Dun£lm order collected.. Pixie LOVES her crunchy feather pillows.. I hate them but she is happy as a piglet in muck!
The r@nge visited .. we bought a few christmas decs for next year and some more of the lights I have along my picture rail (all year) so we can have matchy lights on the tree.. Bird feeders are now filled and Pixie is slobbed on her new pillows on the sofa.. sniffing the pillows.. she is so weird.. gets it from her dad obviously!

Too right Pigpen, at least SIL had the decency to let you know before you set off.
DS2 returned to student-land, so 3 hours in the car. DH, DS1 and I are all feeling a bit poorly so have spent a couple of hours collapsed on the sofa feeling slightly sorry for ourselves. DS has booked and paid for a posh meal out for himself and GF and says he cant face the thought of food, hoping he comes around a bit.
ASB after having 5 of us here quite a bit over Christmas stocks are low so I am not going to be able to do a no-spend January, but I would like to try to only buy what we absolutely need. It will be fun following along, and we do need to watch the pennies and try and save for the next delivery of heating oil.
Narco your trip to London sounds fab, what a nice way to start the new year.

No she didn't.. We would have been halfway there had the girls not stayed in bed until 10am.. and it was his mother who rang to tell us not her.. she would have waited until we got there and deliberately made us all unwell.. she is not that considerate!
ASB .. that sounds like a great plan.. alas we buy bread and milk almost daily and pack up stuff every weekend and cucumber 2-3 times a week.. I hate shopping.

Wanted to wish you all A Happy New Year and here's hoping 2023 brings us all good fortune and happiness (and hopefully not another Prime Minister 😉)
Thank you everyone for being here, I may not post as much as I would like to, but you've all been here when needed with the hugs, encouragement and support needed at the right time. I appreciate everyone of you and count you as true friends, even though we don't see each physically. Thank you for everything this past year and here's to a happy 2023. 😘😘😘

Happy New Year my Flylady friends.
Better is good enough.8 -
My nanna would be 101 today.
Happiest and tidiest and perfectest and most undramatic New Year to you all.. I hope it brings you all joy and love and happiness. You are my favourite in the laptop people, I love you all many heaps! xxx
I have finished a mitten. Held my beautiful Pudding who was puffed up like a pompom, I have yelled rude names at the neighbours and I have hugged 2 scared little girls and put ear defenders on them in their beds. Everyone is now asleep.
I have sent Moomin quids so she can get a hotel for the night, in Sheffield after the pos 'friend' she was with left her and EC at Bassfest.. I nearly had to call in the fly-cavalry to rescue her..
I loathe New Year, absolutely hate it.. it is 'tomorrow' it is nothing magical!!! Just another excuse to get leathered and behave like a moron.. simply no need for it.. and fireworks should be banned. I wished a thousand unkind things on everyone setting them off within earshot of my furry boy, he doesn't understand, honestly it was like one of those terrible videos coming out of Ukraine down here.. people screaming and bombs dropping then they were smashing glass in the road.. simply no need!
I'm going to bed.. with my cats..
