which reminds me of the tale my OH once told about moving into uni residence and getting really annoyed with the chap that lived in the room above. every evening for about an hour the chap would stomp on the floor in a very random way....stomp....stomp..stomp...stompstompstompstomp....stomp......... Turned out he was learning how to juggle.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. The trick is to learn standing just in front of your bed. That way, they just land on the bed and you don't have to pick them up off the floor!
I can do 3 (usual methods) or 4 (2 in each hand). I have never been able to find a replacement for my missing luminous juggling balls, bought for my 21st birthday, many years ago!
I can send instructions on how to juggle with 3 if anyone wants to take it up...8 -
Stand "just in front of your bed". That makes So Much sense I am almost tempted to try, but I think wadded socks throw on a rather less reliable trajectory.
Popped into one of my favourite charity shops by phone - were they on for a few more books? Absolutely yes, bless them, so I sent youngest in with every offending volume gifted us over Christmas. A much smaller bag than we usually take in, but all in "as new" condition & definitely unread by us!
If all decluttering felt this good, I'd live a much (much) tidier life.9 -
Funny I was thinking about those balls just yesterday. The 2-packs were popular and being peddled by street traders when I first visited New York over 30 years ago! They are manipulated in one hand as a means of exercising the joints rather than for juggling purposes. The larger the ball, the more dexterity required. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.5 -
If you can't get hold of any juggling balls, you can make them. You need a few of those bags you used to use to pay coins in at the bank (or similar), rice and some balloons.
Fill the bags with rice, cut the neck part off 2 balloons. Stretch the balloon over the bag of rice in one direction, then another balloon going in the other direction.
Here are some my son made with children in Nepal.

My Dad got me a book on how to juggle when I was about 11 or 12 and I picked it up quite easily, but I wouldn't remember it now!
I dropped off a donation bag yesterday to the St Vincent's shop and the assistant asked me to take it to the volunteers at the back of the shop. Wow, the place was piled high with donations. It seems like a lot of people are doing decluttering in the New Year.
I did see a nice black gilet with faux fur which looked very warm, but it looked like a small size 12 and I didn't really have time to try it on as I had to get home.5 -
