Ooh @Miró I hope you're successful with your bargain.
I wonder if a lot of people have spotted it - I hope you don't get there and find a queue of folks have camped out all night, like the old Next sales used to be!

I did go back and buy the black and white Royal Doulton set I saw in the charity shop. It was £25 for the whole set. I'm not sure if that is good or bad as it is not the thing I normally buy.
Funny/irritating story! I was talking to the two men who worked there and said I didn't want the cups and saucers or the milk jug as I wouldn't use them. The older man was saying "Sorry they have to be sold as a set" (?) I said it seemed pointless as I would just be carrying them home and then having to donate them after so they may as well just keep them there and try and sell them. He was insistent.
I went outside as I had my dog with me (it is very dog-friendly where I live) and I was worried she might pee in there, lol. The other younger guy wrapped everything up and my husband took the bag and we brought it home. I was busy so I only got to take everything out and wash it later that night. The guy had packed everything apart from the cups and the milk jug! I do have the saucers!
I don't know if I can be bothered to go back and say that he didn't give me the cups and milk jug as I didn't want them in the first place! Now they won't be able to sell them with the matching saucers. I don't have the receipt either and if it is different volunteers I could imagine them saying they couldn't give me the cups without a receipt. I don't see why I should go back and give them the saucers anyway as it was their error and I did pay for the whole set. Very annoying.4 -
Well taking the saucers back for them to match to the cups so they can be sold would be a good kharma thing....Wednesday2000 said:I don't know if I can be bothered to go back and say that he didn't give me the cups and milk jug as I didn't want them in the first place! I should have said as well that this is the same charity shop I am donating quite a few items of furniture to too. Also the staff member wasn't being exactly rude to me the other day, but just being unhelpful when I was offering him more money for less of the stuff I was buying. It didn't make much sense to me.Brie said:

There is another layer to this story. I bought the chest of drawers from there the other day and I was waiting outside with my dog again while my husband paid. Two NHS nurses wearing masks and with a kit bag walked past me into the shop and when they came out they were saying how rude the staff were. They had asked if they could park in the car park as they looked like they were going for a home visit for somebody ill and the staff member obviously said they couldn't park but were unnecessarily rude about it. If I did go back for the cups I would donate them and the saucers to a different chazzer.
It is a shame as well as I normally find charity shop staff members polite and nice.

I have been trying to declutter, but found these yesterday for £4, so couldn't resist. Not sure what I'll put in them yet, maybe craft stuff....

8.55 am I rocked up to the Herriot chazza……no bag in the windowYoungBlueEyes said:Ooh @Miró I hope you're successful with your bargain.

. Fell in the doors at 9.00am and I accosted a startled assistant with a forlorn wail. “Where is the L K Bennett bag that was in the window when you were shut yesterday?” “Not had one modom, are you sure you have the right shop?” Pffft she must think I’m daft…..toddles on past the Martin House shop……there’s me bagi n the window doh! £15 and in perfect condition
. (Currently selling on Vestiaire at £200) Then I spotted a pair of Clark’s Goretex lined boots in tan, as new and also £15. Almost got out of the shop when a pair of M & S straight legged jeans in an unusual teal colour leapti nto my hands b/n and £5. A very expensive morning!

I was going to suggest that perhaps they thought you were trying to haggle the price down because you didn't want the whole set but given your other comments I think you're right about them just being rude. Particularly if others have commented on it. What a shame.Wednesday2000 said:
