#3 reporting for August £61.96, July £64.36 and while checking the spreadsheet realised I hadn't reported for May £57.62. This gives me a total of £495.37 for the year. Sorry I haven't been on as much but I'm still doing the challenge.

  • I have to officially retire from this year's challenge as my house-refurb expenses have gone up. I'm finishing up on £296.44 which is up to August.
This was great and I'll definitely be back for 2024! Good luck everyone for the rest of the year :)

i have decided to end my challenge on september 1st.
i will be putting in the £2 per day and the interest from the wife so my final totals will be,
    sept payment £135
    final total £1,131.86.
i have enjoyed this journey and thought in january it was impossible for me but everyone on here has inspired me to keep going.
for what its worth the way i saved was to open a chase account and use the account for my spending using the rewards and round-up to increase my savings (these two alone generated nearly £200).
next year i will be back if its still running.
Many thanks to @enthusiasticsaver, you have kept this forum running perfectly and i hope you continue to run it in 2024
good luck to everyone left saving i know you will all get there and even if you don't i am sure you will have more for xmas than last year (i certainly have).

Well done to @geordiejon and @GeorgianaCavendish and farewell for this year.  I expect there will be others disappearing off over the next month as I know some have been using the challenge for Christmas and have a finish date of end of October or beginning of November.

Hopefully there are lots of us still going though. What do we all intend doing with our savings pots?  Mine is being sluiced into my bigger savings pot as I save separately for Christmas.

i like you needed a budget to make this work, i changed to saving £2 per day and putting it in on the 1st of each month, what it means is your last payment for the year would be december 1st 2024.
    you have 366 days next year minus 31 dec days making 335 x 2 = 670

Each to their own, but sounds too much like hard work to calculate. I had to take a break, so just starting again where I left off!

Hi everyone, I know, I'm a day early right??!!

I have an excuse in that I'm staying in London tonight (budget-friendly, MSE hotel) and getting a coach tomorrow to Lancaster for the next stage of my charity hike. We were originally getting a train but ASLEF have put paid to that idea.

My update for this week. I received interest of 61p into the account on Saturday, but as 61 has already been taken (and 60 and 1) I've selected two random numbers to use this week*:
    33*, 221, 78. 90, 268, 108 and 28* = 826 so I'll be transferring £7.65 into the pot this week (as the interest is already in there).

    #45 new total is £428.04

I too save separately for Christmas so I'm not sure what this pot will be used for yet, but I'm hoping some of it can be 'fun money' for hobbies etc. Well that's the plan!

Thanks as ever to @enthusiasticsaver for keeping us on track and to you all for your motivational journeys.
