    Hi everyone,

Gosh some great saving going on here. I'm in awe of everyone!

Here is my Friday update. This week my random number picker gave me:
    319, 297, 179, 124, 325, 277 and 77 = 1598 so £15.98 going into the pot.

    #45 new total is £378.30

Thanks as ever to @enthusiasticsaver for keeping us going!

Happy Wednesday everyone.  I have coloured in £2.62 and £2.63 and put £5.25 in my savings space so now £40.25 for August. New total is £405.25 and over 60% to my target apparently.

Not sure if I can add any more this month as yet again I have splashed out on theatre tickets, I have hair and nail appointments this month and just paid an extortionate amount for superfeet insoles for my hiking boots and shoes. I am going to  the theatre Saturday to see 42nd street with friends which will probably involve a meal and drinks afterwards too.

Not enough money for the month again and I still have a few nights accommodation to book in October or November for a few days walking in Dorset. Luckily I do have other savings so may need to  dig into those as a last resort.  Hope others are doing ok.

Everyone has done so well!! Such great savings  <3

Yesterday I transferred £6.26 from Prolific to my Paypal account (virtual pot). Off the list, I have crossed:
    £2.62
    £2.61.
Because I had already crossed £1.03 (the remainder) off my list, I found another penny, and crossed off £1.04

Thanks @geordiejon and @Coxy11 and I have updated the sheet.  Hope you are feeling better @geordiejon. The weather is a bit grim down here in the West Country which has scotched my bike ride plans for this morning.  Here is a photo of our local sunflower field  to cheer you up if you have rain too.

So here’s my update for August’s payment, just a couple of days early….

The payments for October ( £89.59 ) and July ( £61.07 ) added together total £150.66, and that will be for each of us. Which means for August….

               #86 Topscooby £301.32p (for August 😀 )

This challenge has really helped get both myself and my wife into the mentality of saving regularly, whilst proving just what can be achieved if you don’t find it a chore!

Continued thanks must go to @enthusiasticsaver for both running the challenge and keeping this thread so enjoyable to participate in 🙏

See you all at the end of next month guys and remember, over time those pennies really do add up!

    Andy  ;)

You are doing brilliantly and are at the top of the savings list now almost at £2k.  Are you doing other challenges?
    Hey Hey everyone,
@enthusiasticsaver, this is the very first time and challenge that I’ve participated in on this forum. Normally, I wouldn’t get involved in anything like this officially, but both yourself and the community on here proved irresistible to ignore and, subsequently, join in!

I’m not sure if you are aware but it was my obsession with reading many ‘debt free’ diaries and ‘mortgage free’ diaries that resulted in myself and my wife becoming exactly that! We still do use credit cards but pay off any balances religiously every month. However, it has been being mortgage free that has had the single biggest impact on our finances and lives…and all because of the inspirational posts from the community on here.

As a result of this, saving has now become a focus for the pair of us. The 1p challenge has been a great introduction but, as you’ve mentioned, we think another challenge may well be something we will participate in. Therefore, once the 1p challenge completes in December we will commit to another challenge but not sure which one…yet!

Good luck with your saving goals everyone, and remember… those pennies soon add up!

And congratulations must go to @enthusiasticsaver for administrating such a successful challenge  o:)

    Cheers,

    Andy

@Topscooby Thank you for your lovely message and I am so pleased you have managed to use the challenge to accumulate  the huge savings by way of the 1p challenge. There are a number of different challenges around so definitely worth signing up to them next year.

The forum does help in that people are generally like minded in wanting to gain financial security whether by paying off a mortgage or unsecured debt or saving/investing or growing your pension. Well done on your success so far.

Thank you so much for your very kind words…we are planning on next year being a bumper one for savings! We are going to stretch ourselves without committing to anything too unrealistic…so are looking into suitable challenges that we can join (fingers crossed).
