@dnD - my mother, born 3 Dec, always celebrated her half-birthday in June, my sister, born 8 Dec, gets separate presents -but she loves Christmas, so a lot of her presents are stuff for Christmas though we try to add other things in also; and my three grandnieces and nephews are all born in Dec - 16, 26, 31, but I make up separate packages for their birthdays. It isn't always easy though.
Yesterday started out with rain, but as we were leaving home there was a beautiful rainbow. Went out to lunch with book sale group, then to the library to work on the books. The library had left me a new cart with four shelves on each side - I was able to sort a lot of books as a result and someone else came in and helped empty boxes. Then we had a great meeting - since it is our Board anniversary, we had a cake and brownies, and one of the libraries had made us special aprons to hold pens, pencils, scissors, tape, and all that for work. Worked a little bit more, then went by and got my prescription, home and got the trash out. One of the new board members gave me a copy of her genealogy - she had about ten people on it - so I worked on that. Now up to 1258 names. Checking each one now and working on the short lines (6 generations on the shortest line now). I love working on new families.
Today has not started out too well. Cat threw up on my bed at 5:30 am - so was up washing my bedding. Went in to find that the other cat had thrown up a fur ball in her dry food dish. And things weren't really ready for the dog to come in - roommate Di leaves chocolate and pills around, plus a plastic bottle which the dog loves to tear the tops off of. So had to move a lot. But the dog came in, the pool person came, and the dog went back out without any trouble (sometimes it takes 20 minutes to convince her to go back out). And she and I played for awhile in the yard. I have an appointment at the eye doctor's today, have to go back to same place for my other prescriptions which finally came through (I hope), and pick up more dog bones and bread. Quiet right now as I am the only up yet.
Dry today, rain next two days. Hope everyone is staying dry and warm.14 -
I haven't managed to catch up on posts and nothing has really been done here as we ended up with another virus, but just wanted to post before I got to the point I think its been too long since I last posted so don't post, yes my mind works in weird ways.
The dishwasher was definitely broken and is now sat outside, luckily DD1 had one sat in her shed that they had been given when they moved in but they have absolutely no where to fit it. So it's now nicely plumbed until we can get a new one.
We were in one of the worst hit places over the weekend and I got woken up by DD2 at 4.30am Saturday morning as she could hear dripping. Put a jug under the drip but in 10 minutes it was a waterfall. We ended up with buckets everywhere and decluttered a lot of water. DH has looked and there's a few tiles that need replacing. Although it wasn't nice, we were definitely some of the lucky ones. It had been strange seeing places I recognise all over the news though.
DD2 has said she's going to come down this week and give me a hand so hopefully something to declare this week.

I would also like to say that today, when I was putting my winter clothes out and the summer ones away, every time I picked something up that didn't fit but I really wanted to keep, somehow it ended up in the get rid pile. This is the first time that has happened. Ever. I'd be holding it, thinking, yeah, I could keep it till I lose weight and BAM! straight into the go pile. It was like my hands were making decisions my brain wasn't involved in.

That was Sunday night, just before I found a gluten free restaurant 😀 I don't know if the ramps are there all the time, it was the Venice marathon or half marathon.

The workman (who Directline sent to us) who was taking up the flooring yesterday didn't take the laminate with him as apparently his company doesn't do that anymore! He said to call Directline to get them to pick it up. Surely that would be part of his job to take up the flooring and take it away?
The man from the council who we paid to pick up our bulky waste came back yesterday after he had finished his shift and took it all away for us for free! It was incredibly nice of him, but I am very annoyed. It wasn't even slightly his responsibility to do it. I'm going to make a complaint tomorrow to Directline about it.
They really have wound me up as this water leak issue has been dragging on since February.2025 GOALS

Got home a couple of days ago. Lots of catching up with post, laundry and putting things away. Nothing decluttered as such except finishing a frog and handing it over to others to do their bit.
Hospital have confirmed admission date of 6 November so starting to get everything together on the packing list. OH has booked somewhere to stay nearby so he can do clothing swaps etc as and when needed (it’s a 2 week stay) as well as bringing some decent food as their idea of a healthy diet is likely to be very different from mine.

@-taff I had that syndrome today! I now only have dresses that fit in my wardrobe.
@Wednesday2000 I know that feeling - I had a drawn-out claim experience with Direct Line a while ago and now go via a broker.
@oceanspirit hope the plans come together for the hospital stay.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Hi all, back in to report a further step in the ACAS frog has been made and 100 emails deleted
@Madbat60, meant to say before now I am retired I do wonder how I had time to workbut also I find the work sort of expands to fill the time so, for example, the ironing that took 10 minutes when I was working can now take 10 days
although it might be because I really hate ironing
. What I like best about being retired is I feel I can take a bit of time to do things that make me happy, like reading a book, without feeling guilty that I should be doing something else
Right off to bed, hugs to anybody who would like one
