I got a lift to the charity shop ,so 4 binbags out yesterday.
I also love minimal mom, very inspirational I find I want to clear something! Also she has very good reasons to let go of things with methods that work well and she’s teaching her children very good lessons as they help her.
The recent one I watched talked of the anxiety and stress clutter causes and the research that shows just seeing it causes cortisol levels to rise.
But she is such a happy, kind easy to watch person, and I guarantee that after watching you will be clearing something😁Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.23 -
I'm reading along and am in awe of the level of decluttering going on, and more in awe of MrsSD writing such extensive notes to each person.Meanwhile, I'm gently getting rid of assorted stuff each day though I don't feel the urge to challenge myself. Recently I've sent off one of my late DM's treasured items, which her mother embroidered for her in 1962, to my only niece who is named after her GGM. I only hope that she treasures it too. Of course, I treasure it but there is a limit to my treasure chest and some things have to go out before I do!More strength to everyone's decluttering arm.24

Hello
Jumped bag on the train, a bit like a mail bag in the old film ( showing my age)
our council usually has a 2 bag limit/ fortnight but for 2 glorious weeks the limit is removed, so yesterday 14 black bags of assorted junk and accumulated rubbish went ( all before 7.00am!)
Also decluttered paperwork from 2015, various receipts and stuff from things we no longer have.
Unfortunately have been ill since beginning of December but managed to declutter 19kg in 3 weeks which I could ill afford.. Turned the corner now I hope and will aim to get rid of lots more when fully recovered.
Thnaks to all contributors for giving me the oomph I need to get going again.
Keep safe

I have bravely managed to remove some items of clothes from the wardrobe hangers of never used. There is not many - but it is a start. They will be placed into a CS bag that got lifted into the loft in the pre Christmas tidy. I will take it to CS on Friday whilst out and about before my weekend of work.
There is an item I advertised on MP locally that will be collected this afternoon. Also 3 soft toys to be added to the page for gifting.
I do revisit locations where stuff is stashed and see what can be moved on. (This is where the 3 toys have come from).
I unintentionally decluttered some soap powder which I had stored in the wardrobe (problems with bungalows and wooden floors) I came to remove it to start using it and the bottom fell out...along with all the contentsthe box had absorbed moisture half way up it. It is now stored in a plastic tub. That plastic tub was sourced from sorting out the bird food from parents declutter.
I will be needing to delve into the button tin for some blue buttons that are needed as a replacement on a cardigan. That could take some time when it happens.

Hello everyone - you are doing an amazing job! I have 3 pages of posts to catch up on later but thought I would post my progress over the past day. Last night had to go food shopping as it appears all 3 dc are having growth spurts.... they were clearing the cupboards of food! Had dinner, then fruit, yogurts, rice cakes and crackers! They woke up hungry this morning too! After dropping eldest 2 dc to school I took a walk into town with ds. He had a nice sleep in his buggy and I managed to have a good look around. Found a couple of board games in a CS so have put them away for February half term so we have something new to play if their is bad weather and I also got a pink valentines gonk, the dc are big gonk fans and he was an irresistible £3 so the money saved using nectar points last night on food took care of the stuff bought today. Have finally cleared the 3rd box, cannot go through it when there are eyes about!
3rd box:
* 2x shower puffs binned
* a t shirt for rags
* scrap fabric
* broken toy tractor trailer binned
For the cs:
* 1 x fabric basket
* kids plastic toy fence
* a cuddly toy
* 2x kids books
* 3x kids t shirts
* 2x kids jumpers
* 2x kids wooly hats
* 1x dress that isn't 'me'
* 2x kids crafts sets
* duplicate dolls house kitchen furniture
* stonehenge poster
* kids hair accessories.
1x bath sheet utilised as an emergency car towel
1x book to be sold on v!nted.
Off to refill the box to make it number 4! It is 40.5 cm x 40.5 x 40.8. Hopefully should start seeing the difference in space soon!2024 decluttering Campaign

I’ve decided to change my decluttering items and target.This morning I have the roofers doing work on our garage and porch (anyone else HATE being home while work is done?) anyway I took the opportunity to go through the rest of the photos and have now decluttered 1839 after the first pass. I would like to go through again but am sick to death of looking at them now 😳 if I was to count them with the 130 Christmas stuff and the bits I’ve already decluttered I’m up to 2089 which only leaves me with 66 to go to a target of 2023 I feel this is ‘cheating’ a bit, especially as the rest of you are getting rid of ‘real’ clutter. Also if I only have 66 to go I will get rid probably in next couple of weeks and then give up! 😬So instead I am going to treat the photos as a frog 🐸 and reset my count. I’m also going to set the Xmas decs as 10 items per ‘point’ so counting 130 as 13 👍😁
in addition, I am now setting my target as 23 items per month with a rule that if I pass it in the month I can’t carry the total forward. I like rules, but they have to challenge me AND be attainable 🤣🤣🤣Keep going everyone 😘Declutter challenge 2023.

Fizz2015 said:Evening All, so many posts to catch up on this thread, is it certainly the bullet train.Minimal decluttering as back at work was a shock and it's so busy! 2 colleagues off and a lot of recruitment to cover (not much of my current role but I have too much experience, sometimes a disadvantage!). So trying to co-ordinate and manage 2 teams along side a colleague raising grievance against other team members! Why can't people just grow up, act professionally and be nice at work.My nan is on end of life care, she has dementia but has had a TIA and now sleeping a lot, doesn't recognise anyone, can't sit up unaided and on Morphine and fluids. Debating whether to visit or remember her as she was. It's a 2.5 hr drive each way. She was an avid knitter so I will dig out my needles and knit something. A positive way of decluttering my yarn stash.
It's difficult when someone is at that point in their life. My vote would be to do some knitting and think back to happier days.
Yes and I quite agree with the need for some people at work to grow up. Hopefully they will have an epiphany.
And weird kinda decluttering here today....OH is supposed to be in charge of laundry but is a) bad at it & 2) has been ill so not doing much of anything. (that fact that I'm ill too is irrelevant....). So yesterday he declared because of the build up of laundry to be done we (aka me) should take it in for a service wash. I agreed for the sake of peace in our time.
Instead today I gathered up all the red/pink/purple items including the christmas tea towels and bunged them in the machine. It really is simple enough to do a load every 2 - 3 days and the back log would be cleared within a week or so. And as much as I like to support a local business the laundry place got more than enough of our business when MiL was living with us and her linen needed to be washed with increasing regularity. So net result is there is no longer any dirty laundry on the bedroom floor. Now I just need to convince him to put some of the clean stuff away....I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Joanie I don’t like having workmen in or outside, I feel out of place and that I should be helping them !I have given 2 large storage bags and 3 large photo frames to my niece.
my froglet is to look at broadband suppliers as my special offer contract is up at the end of the month. I always struggle to know when to contact new supplier as dates can never be co ordinated and I end up paying extra if it’s before contract ends!!Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.18 -
I find it very irritating having workmen in the house too, but then I don't like them being there without me either! Luckily we are getting our house decorated this month by someone my husband knows so I feel safe leaving him alone there.
I just walked to the local second hand furniture store and they will take everything including the sofa cushions. We are going to fill in an online form and they come and pick all the stuff up from our house. I am also getting rid of two garden chairs. I also dropppd off the donation bag f clothes oto another charity shop. We are getting the windows and gutters done tomorrow and we have booked the guy to come and check our roof. They are both coming at exactly the same time annoyingly as my husband booked the roof guy.
It is typical as I pre-ordered that prince Harry book when now I'm not that interested in reading it and when I went outside this morning the package had been left outside and they had sent me two copies of the book!
