2023 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN Mrs SD

Well part of the visit from the landlady was because the shower was leaking into downstairs - the sealant hasn't been done since a while pre-pandemic and although it looks fine from the top it clearly isn't. Anyway since the door keeps falling off as well and its just generally getting old she wants to rip the unit out and start again. So I'll be using the (actually very flash) showers at work twice a week until that happens and standing up at the sink otherwise. Other than that my inspection went OK. I'm now trying really hard to keep the place as nice for myself as I made it for other people!
On the decluttering front I've recycled two more notebooks, a hoop for holding bin bags open (for litter picking, I never got on with it) and a metal trivet. An old and tired tealight holder had to go in the bin due to mixed materials. In - one 'smart casual' t shirt.Fashion on the Ration 2025 - 1.5 coupons remaining

Hello all, decluttered £'s today buying wallpaper, paint etc. ready for decorating, then we started emptying the lounge of a large desk as we no longer need it, nor the computer etc as we have another set up in the office. There are now 3 large bags of computer/camera contents that await sorting. The desk had to be dismantled ( wouldn't go through the door) which was no mean feat as it was made by DH and would have survived a nuclear blast 😂. It's now in bits in the dining room waiting to be put into the shed as we've had torrential rain and neither of us wanted to venture outside. I let DH keep the wood in return for taking the desk etc out of the lounge 👼 Tomorrow there's a cabinet to empty and the contents sorting at some point.
We removed some of the wallpaper and sadly some of the plaster came away with it, darn it things never go as planned, so DH will have to sort that out too, good job he's a jack of all trades ! I had to stop demolition at teatime as I was becoming too clumsy and falling over my own feet and I really don't want to have an accident.
Binned a few things:-
2 pairs broken headphones
Pair of broken sunglasses ( no idea why they were even there)
5 old caravan magazines
Few sheets of T.shirt transfer paper.
2x3D glasses.
Various computer wires and bits of paper
2 OOD caravan cards, cut up
A loyalty card no longer needed
Various leaflets for items we no longer have
Small cardboard box from DH's new camera strap.
2 dongles
Also to the cs a bag full of baking cutters, a gingerbread house cutter set and also 40 emails gone.
Apologies for the long post. Happy decluttering all. Hugs to anyone in the TLC carriage or struggling.
MrsSD I don't know how you keep up with all the cheerleading, you really are a marvel 🦸♀️

anyone have a dog that attacks the hoover and gave any advice on how to stop it? I don’t hoover often enough due to this and ironically I’m drowning in dog hair when I don’t 😂
Failing physiological issues: Much depends on whether its the object itself that causes the issue, the movement, the noise or its you doing the hoovering. If its now a habit and its the sight of it that causes the excitement - and especially since it appears the hoover coming out is a 'novelty' for doggy - you could try having it sitting in plain view all the time, gradually moving it closer and closer to where doggy walks past every day giving praise to doggy when there's no reaction. Could also feed beside it. Once a static hoover gives no reaction, you need to move it. Push it around whilst switched off as long as you get no reaction. As soon as there's ANY reaction stop. Praise the no reaction. It might be best with 2 people, one playing with or doing the dogs training- stay sit stop down etc, running through all doggy known commands keeping its attention and lots of praise. Once that can be accomplished every time the hoover gets pushed around then you can move on to switching it on. Start with it on but stationary. Same thing, distraction and praise and slowly start with your hand on the handle then small movement. Dont try to go too fast with these steps. You need to get a solid, dependable non reaction every time before moving on.
Depending on the breed and the individual dogs temperament, this all might be accomplished in ten minutes or ten months. I would suggest whilst you are going through these steps you don't have doggy in the house while you or someone does the hoovering as you want to break the habit of seeing it and the excitement starts.
Good luck

Thanks @Daisy_1571 someone I work with keeps rats, I'm going to ask them, there is rather a lot of it though so some will probably have to be binned.
Thanks @short_bird and @mrs_salad_dodger, i couldn't anything about shredded paper on my councils website (which is rubbish) but I'm sure it's the same everywhere, at least it's biodegradable.
Continuing with the paperwork decluttering, 62 pieces shredded and 10 recycled. Then I came across some stuff from my Dad's funeral, we took a few photos of us and the dog and wrote letters of things unsaid to put in his coffin with him. I found the copies I'd made. I've stopped for tonight, i've put those things to one side for now while i deal with the rest of it.I know I'm going to come across lots of stuff like this in my paperwork, I think I'm going to make a separate pile and go through it with my brother, when he's here next.
I'm a third of the way through the second box nowStart where you are, use what you have, do what you can

hello!
I was out this evening doing my voluntary cadet stuff but before I went I half emptied a box I brought back from work ages ago. Some stuff has been binned, some moved to my “this is where I keep pens and highlighters” area and the rest donated to cadets. All the pens work 👍
Bin day today and I think the very strong winds we have are busy decluttering the recycling down the road…. And we currently seem to have an ocean being decluttered from the sky in Wales! Very nasty weather so stay safe everyone xxx⭐️⭐️⭐️🥇🥇🥇 2024 decluttering

Big hugs @Millie2008_2. I have been there for a different reason. I ended up keeping an achievements diary. First entry was that I made a cuppa. Hopefull you are going to improve faster than I did but rmeber when you start the day with good energy pace yourself.
I used a lot to layer up my compost heap with shredded paper @Keiths_Mum. it rotted down very well underneath all the tealeaves and veggies.
No decluttering today as on childcare duties and sooo tired. DiL better but DS3 still not right. I took him to the park as he didn't want to try and nap. Managed to get a biscuit in him. A miracle as he hasn't eaten any solids for days. Then he was off to sleep as soon as I wrapped him up back in the pushchair and walked for 5 minutes.
This is the first 24 hour period without some drama from Manchester. social Services have been intouch and they spoke to DH re safeguarding. BiL and SiL to be seen tomorrow by SW who seems to have them pegged. BiL already has told me nothe has happened for DAYS.??? SW has also spoken to the police so he can't fib to make it look all look better so easily. Part of his vulnerability is his difficulty retaining facts but also adding to the story in wild ways.
Tomorrow I have denied myself a lie in to meet up with friends for brunch instead of lunch so I can work on my own clutter pile and get rid of the stuff already in the car. I will have to be careful not to overdo it as I am working on parents in laws house Friday.
