After a week of to-ing and fro-ing with Customer Services I got a full refund for the earbuds that stopped working after a fortnight. I wasn't required to actually send them back to the US which was great as it would have been an inconvenience. I'm strangely reluctant to just throw them away even though they are not much use with a left earbud that is not functioning
!
My "new" system of itemising items IN as well as OUT, although a bit of a faff, paid off today as I gave much more thought to what I was buying at the High St because I knew I'd be listing it here !Tasks Completed:
- Earbuds refund received
- 1 Big Bag & 1 small bag of Stuff to CS
Stuff - IN (running total 5):
6. thin burgundy cashmere blend top - good for layering (only £2.50!!)
7. Small side table for hall - brand new from CS - £8!! - I originally thought it was a storage container then found the legs
)
Stuff- OUT: (running total 60)
61. trousers DS
2Scratters - what a lovely looking button box - it brings back memories of childhood

Pouring down rain here again. Oh my - if it heads your way, you could be looking at a lot more rain. We have had whole towns here in California evacuated because of the dangers of mudslides. Several freeways have been closed down - some under several feet of water. And more rain is coming this weekend. Having myself a cup of tea (PG Tips - I can actually get them here).
Still no Internet and no phone. Using roommate's Internet. At least I haven't been interrupted by the phone ringing. The company assures me it will be repaired by tonight. Do I believe them? Not in the least. Apparently a six block area is affected. Why they couldn't reroute things I don't know.
Even though it was raining, the pool person came, so I had to go out in the rain and unlock the gate. The dog came in - very wet. She does use her doghouse occasionally. But seems to spend most of her time out in the rain. Had to "dog proof" the house last night for her coming in, so decluttered as bit. But I gave her a bone to chew on and one of her toys and she was much better behaved. No, roommate has not paid for the shots and the license yet, as he doesn't get paid until later this week. But it is done (the penalty for waiting would have been 4 times what it cost).
A note to @Liverpool_Anne - when I used to do sales for the clubs I belonged to, we found that the uglier something was the faster it sold. Especially lamps and statues.
39 - Finished sorting another box of papers
40 - dog proofed the house (roommate had left a box of cookies in a bag on the floor. Found it just before the dog came in. She is really good about finding food items.
41 - Got four of my books that need to be updated "outlined" on PowerPoint. Trying to get them ready for speeches this summer. Helps me rewrite the books too as I can see if there is a better order to use, add in new changes, and see what can be deleted.
42 - caught up on MSE after missing three days
Just relaxing now, listening to the rain. Hope things dry out soon - our book sale is next week and we do better when it is outside.

I'm laughing at a lot of your comments on here. I can't remember who said what, but the "ugly" lamps and statues made me giggle Weenancy.
I have made up another donation bag! A cushion, a scarf, a pair of gloves, a reusable bag, a jumper and a t-shirt. I also gave a scarf of mine to my husband as it was his other scarf I donated. The scarf I gave him was grey like the gloves I'm donating. He bought the scarf for me when we were out at a pub quiz and I was cold. Grey is not my colour.
All rubbish and plastic recycling is also out. Hmm, satisfying!2025 GOALS

Evening All
Mostly paperwork decluttering again as it's all I have the time or inclination for after work, 93 pieces shredded and 18 pieces recycled.
2 pairs of socks and one pair of underwear binned as unredeemable - is it bad to wear them one more time before I chuck them out?
I'm creating quite a bit of shredded paper, does anyone know the best way to recycle it or If it can be recycled. I live in a flat and we have a large communal dumpster type recycling bin, most people put the rubbish in as is, which is ok for cardboard or large pieces of paper but I feel shredded paper will make a real mess in there.Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can

Evening All, so many posts to catch up on this thread, is it certainly the bullet train.Minimal decluttering as back at work was a shock and it's so busy! 2 colleagues off and a lot of recruitment to cover (not much of my current role but I have too much experience, sometimes a disadvantage!). So trying to co-ordinate and manage 2 teams along side a colleague raising grievance against other team members! Why can't people just grow up, act professionally and be nice at work.My nan is on end of life care, she has dementia but has had a TIA and now sleeping a lot, doesn't recognise anyone, can't sit up unaided and on Morphine and fluids. Debating whether to visit or remember her as she was. It's a 2.5 hr drive each way. She was an avid knitter so I will dig out my needles and knit something. A positive way of decluttering my yarn stash.20
