@Mrs_Salad_Dodger I do not know how you keep up with all this decluttering cheerleading you’re amazing! 🤩I have just been through my drawer in the filing cabinet and emptied the shredder x3 by the time I had finished. Recycling gets collected in the morning so that’s a good result 😊
Tomorrow is cleaning day my least favourite task, but planning a roast dinner tomorrow night as missed out at the weekend so can look forwards to that.
well done everyone, keep going 😁18 -
Thank you @EnergyShifter, will make sure I keep everything in perspective. Thank you @gettingthrifty even if I spent 24 hours a day on the clearing (think i have enough energy for at least 18 hrs a day 😂) there would still be tonnes to do! I love that mantra @Floss, never had one before but will use that one. Thank you I could never have cone up with that one by myself, much appreciated. @joanie, I had tears down my cheeks reading your message, thank you, you are too kind. I am not feeling strong but am very determined....and stubborn. To quote my mother in law "oh dfw, you are so stubborn you are a pain in my @r$e!" She meant it affectionately and it did make me laugh when she said it 20 years ago 🤣. Unfortunately I don't have many people in RL, dm and dmil have passed, no grandparents, siblings cause more trouble than help, dad in a care home and looks to be nearing end of life care soon. Only really have dh, 3x young dc and 'friends' like school mums etc who I am not close to as the relationships are not developed. Hard to make new friends when you are an adult. I am friendly enough, dh says I have one of those faces where people tell me their life story.... happens on a daily basis often!
Well back to today: scan decluttered, all items from 2nd box taken to Cs, large sainsbobs elephant bag filled with food from pantry taken to food bank, man there was pleased. Frog completed; patch sewn onto dd bag, been meaning to do this since November. 3rd box full, will list contents tomorrow, box of photos sorted into some for me and some for siblings. They are from.my grandparents stash, we don't have any from my parents home that are able to be saved. They were,/are hoarders and the photos were left in a damp spot and subsequently got mouldy. Without my Grandparents photos we wouldn't have any from our childhood.
Off to bed soon, up at 5 to do another training run. Hope you are all having a lovely evening and thank you all for being so welcoming and wonderful.😘2024 decluttering Campaign

Was right in the middle of adding a source to Ancestry when our Internet and phone went down. Looking into getting the two disconnected somehow so we don't lose both at once (may have to get two companies involved). I don't have a cellphone yet and one roommate's phone is broken, so when other two roommates are working and have taken their phones with them, we have no phone service. My fourth roommate is off visiting somewhere. Our phone company admits that the problem is a service issue on their end but it has been three days already. Using someone else's computer service (roommate upstairs) to get things done in a hurry.
Sorry to hear about Sweetie, @Roundtuit. I have had several birds also and it hurts when you lose them.
30 - planted a mint plant.
31 - got dog into store for rabies shot and got her license renewed.
32 - paid the hospital bill. Only $120 for emergency room as on Medicare, rest they paid for from my insurance ($4,800!).
33 - managed to get homework done for two classes started last week before the Internet went out.
34 - signed up for the Winter Reading program at the library (for adults and children). Get a certificate for a free meal at a place we eat at often for every five books I read.
35 - went in for Physical Therapy assessment. I have 12 appointments at two a week coming up.
36 - cleaned up a stack of papers - 10" down to 1 1/2 inches
37 - cleaned 180 items and 4 folders out of my Email.
38 - got three bags of trash out and got the two trash bins out to the street before the rain started up again (they are expecting major rain storm over next two days - we are already way over our usual year's supply) Hopefully, this won't slow down the repair work on the Internet and Phone. I miss having a phone. We do have an alert system we can push if we have a need for the paramedics (given they have been here 5 times this last year). But no one else can call.
When I was able to get back in here, there were 132 unread posts - wow.

Thankyou @Mrs_Salad_Dodger. It is just luck Dh is finishing earlier than planned. A brak I needed badly I must say.
Sorry to hear of what you are going though @Dfw38. Positive hopeful vibes coming your way.
Poor Sweetie. Nieces gerbil did the same thing yesterday. All fine the day before but deceased in the morning,
So a good day .
I dealt with a frog. Bloomin' autorenewals.
I cleared the car out and sorted the stuff my Sis gave me to get rid of. Sorted into CS, rags and CS for spring/summer to go into the loft. I kept a top for myself.
I also went through the porch and sorted through all the walking boots. DS2 came and had a pair. A pair will replace my allotment boots and another pair are going into storage for DS2 for when he wears out the pair he has taken.
Also a large stack of bowls put in a bag for the CS. All the CS bags are now in the boot. of my car to be dropped off tomorrow.
DS2 came with me and my DH to start work on the Parents in Law's house. The box room has been hit and a set of drawers moved downstairs and a filing cabinet taken up. There are now 3 bin liners of rubbish in the bin but this is the tip of the iceberg. Over the next few weeks there will be much more clearing and furniture moving.
Keep well and safe all.

On way home from meeting old friends, known each other 40 years but some I haven't seen for years including one over from Aus. My first thought was who are all these old people then realised and I'm one of them
had fabulous catch up and reminder of adventures from way back including alot of travelling. Relevance to this thread that decluttering for me should allow more 'fun' times. Had out my travel card and wallet ready last night but spend 30 mins looking for it this morning, luckily had another card I could use but shows I have far too go. But did wear good clothes and a lovely red scarf I've had a few years and either unworn or once or twice so again a reminder to have things accessible..looked out my 'good' coat too. ( or one of them all equally little worn'
@roundtuit sorry and sending hugs.
So decluttered some stress and the I'll save it for.best mentality!20 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with daily mail immediately
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
DH was happier after seeing M - she is definitely on the mend because although she still gets tired easily she is now bored when she is awake 😉 DH stopped in at the local church on the way home & will deliver the 9l of ‘lacto free’ milk tomorrow. I cooked sausages, mash & beans for DSis whilst DH & I had the 3rd HF meal from last week - veggie tostadas with roast peppers & zesty soured cream - it was delicious 🤤 We only ate half so will have the other half tomorrow. Wudupa. I have started on my letter writing froglet - both English letters drafted & have started drafting the 1st French letter in English then will use a translation tool. I also started knitting an ear warmer headband 🙂
60 - 61 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans - recycled
62 - 63 Kitchen & lr detritus - binned
nannywindow, not a colander head at all - there are 10 posts per page & each day there are at least 5 pages of posts 😉 Excellent decluttering of washing 👏 - hope you managed to line dry 🤞 That is definitely a ginormous frog you & DH are planning to tackle 🤩 Like you I am always stunned by the cost of paint & wallpaper 😬 however it is nowhere as expensive as it is in France 😱 Hopefully you won’t have to remortgage the house 🤞😉
Excellent decluttering donna73 👏 Always nice to have an unexpected bonus from your decluttering efforts 😊
Excellent decluttering vulpix 👏 Surely the timer should have been set for 23 minutes 😉 Good luck with your Facebook listings 🍀 Keeping everything crossed that you get to go on a cruise 🤞
gettingthrifty, love that you are committed to ‘working on the behaviours that contribute to your cluttery ways’ 😊 Great decluttering 👏 What a marvellous way to look at ‘Sunk Costs’ 🙂 As to reasons to declutter that is a Big One - no wonder it is top of your list 🙂
Every bit counts Madbat60 👏
Florenceem your decluttering may slow down but you are doing wonderful work with your SA Corps 🙂
Will catch up again tomorrow - I am off to bed 😉

Sending hugs to all who need them, theres been so many posts and i couldn't keep note on my phone x
Didn't post last night as DH said I had to have an early night after not sleeping all week. I still laid there most of the night.
Had shopping delivered yesterday morning before DD1 arrived. Spent the afternoon emailing/phonecalls with school about DD2. And then waited for a doctors phonecall for a medication review so plenty of phonecalls/emails decluttered yesterday.
DH went on a hunt to fill ours and DPIL bins, as they have nothing in it. I've only listed what I've seen him take to the bins. The chocolate tubs were kept baking but have been on the top of the cupboard for years and we'll have new ones once the children have emptied them.
74-80 chocolate tubs/tins
81 dog food bags being kept for the garden but now way too many
82-84 bags of wrapping paper from the shed filtered in to bins
85-88 500 emails
This morning DH has dropped the girls at school on his way to drop DS2 at college as it was pouring outside. Just having a cup of tea before collecting DD3 for a hospital appointment.LBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554

@roundtuit- I am very sorry to hear about little Sweetie. Do take care of yourself.@Mrs_Salad_Dodger - Thank you for your kind words. I am absolutely blown away by receiving a 🏅 I’ll need to devise a signature next so that I can display it properly! I am totally with you on wanting the first cup/cups of tea without other human presence. Pets, for some reason, are far more tolerable.@Dfw38 - everyone else will benefit too from you regaining your sparkle so do give your own needs at least an equal footing. I know it isn’t easy in a busy family life though. You are very wise to channel your energies into some distractions and displacement activities as our minds can quickly go down some unhelpful roads when there are health concerns. Well done for being brave and getting things checked over. Running is a great way to destress and look after yourself so I hope you start to experience the benefits of that soon.
@vulpix - you are being an amazing support to others and actually the intensity of it can have a very draining effect. It’s a good job there is a TLC carriage in here that you can rest in and I hope you will take full advantage of any opportunities to treat yourself. My husband and I were inclined to forget to do this and it wasn’t good for us. I don’t think we understood the importance of it at the time that we really needed it so that’s why I tend to make this recommendation to others. I am very sorry if I am being rather presumptuous and I do hope that I don’t offend you.
My toiletries cupboard is now a model of order after two days at it. Sunday, I sorted, binned, cleaned the cupboard and put things back nicely. This left me with a load of reusable small bottles and jars that I had decanted things into for travelling and not cleaned out on my return. Sensibly, for me, I left them to do as a separate job yesterday. It was quite long and fiddly but I now have them all clean, dry and bagged up for reuse. Plenty of room in the cupboard for them now too, rather than tumbling about getting in the way. Hopefully, I have learned my lesson; it is easier to wash things out when they are fresh, rather than hardened and set with age!I have deleted about 1500 emails over the weekend. Still have maybe 1000 to go!
Today, I need to do a little food shopping so the fridge will be my target area.On Day 9 of my declutter year.17
