I've made a start already. Decluttered a file box full of paperwork (mobile contracts/bank statements etc), and scanned them onto a usb and shredded them.
I'll count it as one item thou, it's taken me 3 days as it was reams of paper, some of it going back as far as 2017.

Decluttering Goals 2023
I’m pretty much in maintenance mode as far as “stuff” is concerned but there is still some excess stuff hanging around. So rather than having a number target for 2023 I would like a “twice as much out than in” target – for every item that comes in two should go out! I won’t count consumables as I that’s not something I stockpile.
I also want to continue to note life admin tasks completed as these are more of an area of weakness than accumulating “stuff” - telling people I've done them really helps motivate me.
Things carried forward from last year: Good Habits & Routines
I failed miserably to establish a consistent morning routine last year. My ideal routine would consist of – prayer, physio exercises, reading scripture and journaling. I also want to start to build a regular Sabbath practice. I’m not sure what that would / wouldn’t involve but I’ve been reading about the practice, and it feels the natural next step for me.
Stop procrastinating on household maintenance – I made some headway last year with the windows I really need to replace kitchen and bathroom.
Raphael - a black bin liner full - that's a huge amount of shredding (& "mum's the word re: your Boss
)
Muddy Walker - What a lovely way to put it! "Decluttering Darkness" 🌤️

@Raphael, I also have a large amount of shredding to contend with (currently a very large box sitting under my desk at home) which will be tackled in the new year. Would be so much easier to just burn it all but that's not great for the environment right now!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201715

Continue to cultivate being thoughtful & generous. I admire these qualities, but they are not my default – I get overwhelmed & fearful and overlook them.

My mom was a big fan of Dr Norman Vincent Peale and she used to read bits out of his motivational books at us. One of his things was to get up every day, look yourself in the mirror and say 3 times "today I'm going to be happy!" I think that due to me hearing this idea so often as a child it's not something I've ever felt the need to do as it was drummed into me so much. But for anyone that does need an uplifting routine (prayer & exercise being a part of that) I wonder if a simple post it note on the bathroom mirror would help. Post its weren't invented when NVP was expounding his ideas but I think it's one he might have gone for to help people get to a better mind space.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Some lovely ideas there - most of which I can't help you with but you did trigger a memory from childhood.

Hello all. I'd like to join your merry gang to declutter in the new year. There are several projects OH and I are taking on over the year including building an office shed and doing some wall work inside the flat. Next week Mr. Jings and I will sit down and make a house project list and I'll return to post what I'll focus on along with the decluttering. Thank you @Mrs_Salad_Dodger for running this thread.13
