Just catching up. I've made a start by sorting out my undersink cupboard and cleaning cupboard before Christmas. I don't need go buy any cleaning supplies for months. Just a thought I'm terrible at checking my emails. I will try to check them twice a day.
I’d love to join this challenge please. I’m yet to work out my goals but In short I’d like to have a home we can invite people into without being embarrassed about the mess! I look forward to seeing everyone’s progress and tips for their journeys 🙂

I want to get my home ready for sale with a view to downsizing and we have so much stuff! I don't think I am going to count by bags or items but I think this thread will be a great way to keep on track and report how things are going.
My first job once the shops are open again is to get rid of the 4 bags that are ready for the charity shop but which have been lurking under the stairs for a few weeks. I don't know why I don't just take them! I will do this in 2022,
Clothes I find tricky to tackle. I have far too many and only fit into about a quarter of what I own. I always plan to lose weight so am reluctant to part with things I like. I need to have a good look at what I don't like all that much (as well as them not fitting) and at least get rid of them.
I also plan to make some lists of jobs and try to tackle at least one a month. These are jobs where I need to get people in to do them. Everything from the scrap man to fetch an old microwave (a quick win) to organising a bathroom refit. Lists will follow.

My ex and I broke up 2 weeks ago, and we own a 3 bed house together. There will need to be a serious amount of decluttering before the house can be sold, and I’ll be downsizing to a much smaller property.
It’ll need to be a very severe culling of Stuff, but it’ll be necessary in order to start afresh with only things which truly matter to me.
‘When you only have two pennies left in the world, spend one on bread and the other on flowers. The bread will sustain life, the flowers will give you a reason to live.’
I’ve made a start, now down to 1961/2023 decluttered all the Christmas food and meat from freezer over to Son1, aiming to go meat free for a year and see if my health improves with it, chicken will be my downfall if I get invited for roast dinners. All crackers donated to the grandkids. Really hoping not to buy anything apart from hygiene products, moisturiser new over the next 12 months, no new clothes. Do need some pans that will work on an induction job but I’m going to keep looking in the charity shops for them.
So with not buying new and decluttering I may just get the minimalist home I crave this coming year.
Happy Boxing Day everyone x

Today has been spent clearing dust in the main. The house has been
filthy from all the building work, most of it has been replastered, so
there's been dust everywhere. Cleared out a load of stuff which had been
dumped under the stairs. The shoes were filthy, took them outside and
brushed them down, one pair gone to the bin as they were disintegrating.
There needs to be more shoes coming in this year as I haven't bought
any new for literally years. An old pair of slippers also hit the bin as
I got a new pair for Christmas.
The 3
different vacuum cleaners we own have all stopped working as being
clogged up with dust. I discovered clean filters for one of them so have
washed the filters for all 3 of them and waiting for the machines to
dry off so I can reassemble the one I have dry filters for. The other
filters have gone to the boiler cupboard to dry off.
There's a stack of cardboard by the door to go to the recycling centre on Thursday, and some items for the charity shop also.

Hi all, just popping in to say I have been busy socialising with friends and family but now have an even messier house. I thought when the gifts went out things would get better but of course stuff came back in, a couple of shockers, to quote Vulpix which I am fairly sure will be heading to the charity shop though I have kept them for now in case they either grow on me or I find someone to pass them on to. Luckily this year I also got quite a few edible gifts which will be dealt with fairly soon , though OH is going to have to eat a fair amount of stuff with chilli in I have been thinking about a target but I am still working on it and will let you all know by Jan 1st. Take care everyone
