Hi all, hopefully a quick post as I am really flagging after a mainly sleepless night
. A bonus was I was awake enough when I went to the bathroom in the early hours to remember to collect the sample requested by drs, sorry if that is tmi
. I started the day with a call to dsis and she was very down and upset at the start of the call but I think I made some headway as she was laughing by the end. She had not made an appointment with the drs so I have told her I will call again tomorrow and I will nag her until she does. Then I took my sample to the drs and made an appointment for my flu jab which means I can also look at booking my covid booster as I want about 2 weeks between them. I know some people are happy to have them both at the same time but I like a space between them. I then went to pick up a gift voucher for a birthday present. When I got home I had a text from my dsis which was the message my dniece had sent to her. Dsis wanted to know what I thought of it. I replied but I am aware I am walking on a knife edge here
. Then I had a long conversation with Dniece and got a similar but not identical version of what had happened. Dniece is very open to a reconciliation so I am hopeful but it will depend how stubborn dsis is. Fingers crossed if I can pull this off I want a nomination for the nobel peace prize
In other things the bathroom bin was emptied and I have sorted some footy tickets. Quick sort in the bathroom has resulted in 4 hair dyes donated by OHs sister into the cs bag, wrong colour and I am never going to use them, it's years since I could be bothered with hair dye and now consider myself mainly white haired with a few strands of colour. Though I did make time for a session of self care
Re the bathroom pics it was enormous and I said we have slept in smaller rooms in some places we have stayedI am keeping the pics of the shower as I would love something like that when we sort the bathroom. We can all dream
The talk of embroidery threads made me smile, I have some I got from my Mum and I don't think I will ever get rid of it though I do hope to use it up at some point
@Vulpix that fair isle looks lovely, such an intricate pattern and I bet it will be nice and warm.
@2Scratters wow so much done. I know what you mean about scrap paper, I decided a while ago I have so many notebooks to uu that I was not going to keep all those used envelopes etc to use as scrap note paper until I have made serious inroads into the pile but I can't yet bring myself not to use both sides
@crazy_cat_lady well done on the weight loss you must be very happy. I can relate to the not deep enough sheets, I have resorted to using a very old king flat sheet on my double deep mattress as I only have 1 base fitted sheet that is really deep enough. The rest are waiting to be sorted and disposed of somehow
@Rootle glad you are happy with the redundancy
Falling asleep now so hugs to anybody who would like one
1297 self care
1298 sample to drs
1299 flu jab booked
1300 bathroom bin emptied
1301 voucher bought
Take care everyone

Hello all, thankyou for your kind words about DNiece. Sadly she lost her battle and she passed away late Tuesday night /early yesterday morning 😢 Her passing was a bit of a shock, even though it was expected it was the speed of it which took us by surprise.
My BP re-check yesterday didn't go well either as it still reads high, so I may have a phone call/text about it. I wanted to make a flu jab appointment too but the surgery was so chaotic I decided to ring and get one.
After a rather sleepless night, this morning I have thrown out 5 lonely socks, their mates haven't turned up and I have kept them for months weeks, bet they'll turn up now !! In the recycling went several empty cardboard boxes and an empty toothpaste tube has been binned. I shall now go and sort out my freezers and clean out the fridge ready for an online shop. There's not much in either and the fruit bowl is empty too 😧
MrsSD thankyou for your condolences which you kindly put on the Daily thread.

I finally admitted work is getting too much at the moment so i asked for part time and they said yes. Only for 4weeks for now, it'll be tight money wise but easier health wise. I was a bit afraid it'd be a one way street but they say I can go back to full time when I want to.I took another box to the chaz today but they don't want any more books so I had to take them out. The other shop over the road took 3 of them but the others are going to have to be binned sadly. Never mind though, a box of nick nacks and surplus China gone. I've never regretted bringing my nice stuff out for daily use but I've still got too much.Magnolia Stellata17

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Wednesday started quite bright but very windy. I was up at about 10:00, but only put on a dressing gown, made my cuppa & watched the last 2 episodes of season 2 of Line of Duty + completed some more paperwork. Then I got dressed - DH & I left the house 12:30. DH had found a family run jewellers in Hatton Garden which we visited. The type of establishment where you are buzzed in 😉 DH’s wedding ring is being resized (up 6 sizes because of a swollen knuckle as a result of his bout of shingles 😱) & my 50 pence piece celebrating our Pearl Wedding anniversary will have a surround to convert it to a pendant & I will buy a chain. It has only taken us almost a year to get around to it 🤣 We then spent a few happy hours in the Sir Christopher Hatton - where we first met almost 35 years ago 😉 Lots of reminiscing & happy memories. We even had a very interesting conversation with an elderly gentleman called Mr Butts 😃 Whilst we were in the pub the heavens opened & it rained steadily for a couple of hours. Left the pub about 16:30 & walked down to Farringdon Station so I could have my first ride on the Elizabeth Line 😅 We got off at Canary Wharf, popped into M&S Food Hall & picked up lasagne & garlic bread for dinner, then bus home (after I posted my letters) Home around 18:00. Dinner about 19:30 & then watched TV with DSis. Wudupa.
2025 - 2029 Kitchen recycling, paper packaging, cardboard box, drinks cans, newspaper - recycled
2030 - 2031 Kitchen detritus, 0.5” shredding - binned
Thursday appears to have been another bright start but I only got up at 12:15 & it has started clouding over 😔 Slept for 6 hours straight - the benefit of moderate alcohol consumption 😉🤣 DH finally got up at 13:10. A bit of good news - DH came downstairs all smiles as for the first time since his accident (2011) he can bend his knee at a full 90 degrees 🥳 It would appear that the fall in Scotland tore apart the scar tissue 😣
Liverpool_Anne, what a beautiful crocheted blanket 😻 A great hotel bathroom - so shiny clean that I can see a ghostly reflection in the shower 😉
TC77, keeping everything crossed that you find all the evidence to refute ex’s statement 🤞Well done on concentrating on just the one frog 👏
Excellent work Siebrie 👏 There is something very satisfying & therapeutic about tackling & completing a mending pile 😊 As well as the added bonus of being MSE 🥳 Even nicer when all the thread has been inherited & you can remember grandmas & aunties whilst you are sewing 😊
Excellent work Natty68 👏 Hope the sort out of the HUGE pile of cross stitch bits’n’pieces went well 🤞Will you be donating or keeping to have cross stitch projects to complete over the winter months?😉
You are very welcome vulpix 😊 The trick to my cheerleading is that I have an MSE thread open at the same time as Notes. Flitting back & forth whilst I write my responses 😉 Congratulations on only having 1.5 tadpoles left to deal with 👏 Not dull at all - a lovely supportive post 😊 Great work rescuing the Fair Isle sweater 🥳
Lovely post flamingo747 😊 I wonder if the hand me down threads had been handed down to Mr Flamingo’s great grandmother 🤔 I am now in a world of my own wondering who of our declutterati owns the oldest threads & sewing accessories handed down through the generations 😉
What a great question about embroidery silks, Floss 😊 🤔
I have caught up a little but feel the lure of an Episode of Line of Duty before having a 2nd go at catching up on the cheerleading 😉 Will be back later 👋
