2023 Decluttering Challenge: 140 items decluttered since mid-Sept 🏅15 -
Hello, Sorry for going AWOL - this month has proved to be very busy so far!
We have a 25-cubby hole unit in the spare room full of craft stuff.... I decided to sort it out two weekends ago as it had reached the stage where I couldn't find anything. I am sure it is only a first pass as I know I was suffering from decision fatigue towards the end. I shan't list everything that went to charity / a local primary school individually, as it's the thought of doing so that has delayed me posting, but another 315 items have gone out.
I went to a supermarket that I rarely visit last Friday to buy some cheap mugs for work as we have students coming on placements next month, and decided not to waste the time left on my car park ticket so popped into the charity furniture shop next door... we are now the proud owners of a Stressless sofa and armchair for less than £300! The rather dilapidated sofas they have replaced have been broken down and taken to the tip - one old pound coin, a letter opener and a few cross stitch needles were found in the sofa I usually sit on and a very pretty silver match case in OH's sofa.
We have had our CCTV upgraded today and the workmen said they needed access to the loft (which is empty apart from insulation), but ended up in nearly every room - the house is neither tidy nor clean enough to allow that without some embarrassment on my part. They asked for the cupboard under the stairs to be emptied, I have no idea why, so the Christmas decorations/wrapping paper/cards/gift bags have been sorted as has all the yarn. I have managed to reduce the yarn stash by two boxes, so it is corralled in a set of plastic drawers on wheels and a couple of project bags now. I haven't counted how many balls went out yet.
The bedroom is now decorated - one 'straight edge' went out as it tore the wallpaper so we just need to find some carpet now and ask the plumber to rehang the radiator.
We are away this weekend so I don't think much will be sorted. I shall have to dig the winter duvet out if the nights get much colder so my next hotspot to tackle is the airing cupboard as there is far too much bedding in there. It doesn't stay tidy for long in there - the towels are fine but the bedding always seems to be spilling over the shelf edges!16 -
Nanny - deepest condolences to you 😘😘😘Stay safe!Stay upright!And eat cake 🍰 😊 🏅⭐️ 💐14

The drama Queen invalid is getting better - he managed a shower and made a cup of tea (for me as well). I took so long mooching round Sains he sent me a text asking if I was ok. He is now fully aware of how much he upset/annoyed me and has also said he misconstrued things as his head is so dizzy. So that’s a start!
New neighbours dog made me laugh earlier - I was getting the shopping out of the car and the dog was with his dad as he put the bins out - the dog looked up, saw me and barrelled over to say hello. He’s a sweetheart.
My 2 are now cwtched up with me protecting me from the winds blowing through my windows…I’m now a bit too toasty…..
thank you for my flowers and hug Mrs SD 😘Stay safe!Stay upright!And eat cake 🍰 😊 🏅⭐️ 💐17 -

Hi all, just popping in to report 2 tins put aside for OH to use at Christmas for gniece and gnephew. They were going to the cs but didn't make it so can't count yet. A loaf tin I had used for crumble into the bin as the non stick was peeling off. I have never seen this before and can only conclude it didn't like being in the freezer. I will look out for a replacement at some point as it was a handy tin. The kitchen bin emptied and the bedroom recycling emptied.
I have spent a lot of time today talking to my dsis who has had a major row with dniece. Dsis is now refusing to go to visit dniece in the Caribbean in November and I know she will regret it. Dniece is mega stressed out due to her fil deteriorating with dementia and the rest of the family refusing to accept that the next step is a nursing home so the house will have to be sold to fund it. Poor man has had to go into hospital with dehydration and borderline starvation as despite carers coming in 4 times a day he forgets to eat and drink. I also found out today dsis is not feeling well and had decided to put off going to the drs until after her trip as she didn't want to get caught up in rounds of tests before her trip. Naturally she hasn't told dniece but I think I have persuaded her to go to the drs at least. From her symptoms I think it might be something as simple as anaemia but she has been worrying about it for a couple of months so it has turned into a big nasty thing in her mind. She is now very down about the row and is feeling a total failure as a parent and a person. I have a complicated relationship with my dsis but as she is the only sibling I have I decided long ago that these things have to be let go and we are just totally different people. I am sure I drive her nuts sometimes as well but neither of us are going to change so we just have to get over it, and we usually do. I am just very worried that this will be something they both regret and there will be no opportunity to put it right before dniece goes back to the Caribbean. Dnephew meanwhile is in the USA working and is no help but has inadvertently added fuel to the fire via text message and upset dsis even more. Sorry to offload here when I can see others have far more serious things happening and I have chatted to OH who has been supportive but it is playing on my mind and I am having trouble getting off to sleep. Hopefully I will be able to sort something out tomorrow.
Hugs to everyone who would like one

Nice to see you betasam 👋 You have been very busy - with some excellent decluttering. Your last count on page 649 was 498 so plus 315 = new total 813. This means that I am awarding one Gold Star ⭐️ for passing 500 PLUS another Gold Star ⭐️ for passing 750. Congratulations 🥳 Good luck with the bedding 🍀
Muddy_Walker, I love your name for your DH “the drama Queen invalid” 😂 However I am pleased to hear that he is getting better, but even more pleased that “he is now fully aware of how much he upset/annoyed me” 😊 If he starts ‘slipping back’ into his previous attitude remember to look at P685 😉 so you can remind him 😂 So lovely when a dog prefers you to its owner 😉
TC77, hopefully you have done the bulk of the frog & another session will see it completed 🤞Everything crossed that you located the misplaced paperwork before going to bed 🤞 I am updating your number from 1485 to 1492 (CS bag, jug, mirror, food, parcel & 2 plastic glasses) 👏
Good decluttering Liverpool_Anne 👏 So sorry to hear about your DSis & DNiece falling out 😔 Sounds like a very complicated family situation but hopefully with you acting as an intermediary & offering emotional support they will be able to sort everything out 🤞 Meanwhile feel free to offload - it really can help to see things written down clearly rather than having everything milling around in your head 🥹 We are here to support each other in whatever way we can & I am sending you lots of hugs accompanied by positive vibes 😊
I have caught up again, so will post & then go to bed 💤

Still awake here so have decluttered 100 photos from my phone but thought I would post a couple. First is the scrappy blanket I crocheted to keep OH warm this winter and then a couple of pics of the hotel room where we stayed recently. I was particularly impressed with the bathroom

Mrs SD thank you for all the cheerleading and encouragement to me and others. And adding my nos, I was planning on adding but may well have forgotten and have made a note. I want to get back into the habit of regularly counting.
Had planned to be in work early for a call about another frog but can only do so much so will email and postpone. Ex in his statement making series of mistruths so having to look out evidence and finding stuff which makes me upset that I didn't address / stand up to him many years before. Anyhow have to do best for now. Off to the office and hopefully some sorting tonight .
@Liverpool_Anne the hotel bathroom.looks lovely , beats my travelodge in need of refurb!19
