Wet here again and forecast for all day with chance of a thunderstorm.
I must finish my current craft project so I can crack on with something else.
Neighbour is going away so asked if we will have a key. She also has a lot of stuff for SA - I said to put it in my porch.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Pouring with rain today so I am staying in all day. I have some stress balls/hand exercisers to be delivered that will hopefully help with my osteoarthritis that I have diagnosed with recently.
I was going to drop off the donation bags, but I will do it later next week because of the weather. I have to go through my husband's wardrobe one final time anyway.
I had some annoying magazine delivered today from my husband's work and I will unsubscribe online from that today!
The washing is done so I have to hang that up, indoors of course.18 -
Having had the big of a Freegle disaster over MiL's best wheelchair (offered to sell it to a Freegle want and we got our knuckles rapped so I put it on gumtree but then OH gave it away to the Freegler) I then had a number of people wanting to buy it. Too late of course so I responded back to say so and changed the ad to MiL's other wheelchair (still foldable but not as nice and heavier) with the price reduced to £5. Chap just about bit my hand off to have it!! So that's gone from the carport leaving a grotty old shopping rollator which was offered as a freebie with the chair. I'm going to get OH to take it directly to the dump as I can't see a charity shop thanking us for it.
That just leaves MiL's portable table which we could roll close to her so she could eat her meals. I've taken some pics and will get those onto Gumtree asap. Did offer it to the guy earlier today but he wasn't interested. Thing is that the woman who took the good wheelchair is back on Freegle wanting something similar but I have no way to contact her. Maybe if there's no interest on GT I'll merely suggest she look there.
And while I was waiting for the chap to show up I did a bit of weeding as they rain had strangely stopped....I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Last number was 847 nearly a month ago and know I have unsubscribed, deleted and taken stuff to CS so calling it 900.
And feeling like I've got my mojo back but have to pace myself with work and a major admin frog (court stuff with x which has tight timescales, first end of next week then through to Oct so trying not to be distracted. Counting as 1 having done some work on it, chipped mug out, broken pen, 3 lots of paper declutter, and 3 large bags of sheets, covers and pillow cases- some unused or hardly used, packaging, parcels packed for collection (returns so counting each parcel not what's in) 935.
Agreed with DD2 that we would do 1.5 hours sorting things, starting with the airing cupbard room/ her study as I can't get to heating/hot water controls. I sorted the laundry, hoovered and put a few things away, she has tubs for clean/dirty clothes, things to give away, excess stationery ( for use later), and has filled several containers with old revision notes/rubbish etc including large laundry box as waste paper bins too small. Really proud of her. I did 45 mins and left her to it. May not be finished but she spent at least 2 hours and in detail.
DD1 rang yesterday to say PIP assessment gave her nothing with lots of contradictory statements which will be easy to challenge, stating no new medication etc which is untrue.I haven't seen the letter but she read some to me which as I was on the call were blatantly wrong. Promised to help but later this month.Such an unfair process and so many people give up hope which seems to be the aim of the process (apologies for the rant).
DD2 took a bag of clothes (plus some of my textile recycling) to h/m to get £5 off after I explained the process (meant she looked out v old t-shirts) so win win.
Have done a little filing, and putting together of frogs awaiting attention. Hope everyone is staying as dry and safe as possible.16 -
Making mine up to 950 as used up veg in urgent need of attention, sorted plates for passing on and did abit of putting 'like with like' random bits. Also spoke to daughters of a close friend of my mum - I found out recently our mums went to school together and have finally arranged a time to meet them and take some old school magazines (1930s) which have poems and stories written by both our mums - going to leave some with them. I had thought the mums had met as adults. The daughters are older than me and their mother died long before mine. I've never met them but seen cine film of them as teenagers when I was little. Realise that going and doing things like meeting them and passing on items so much better than navigating belongings in my house!
@QueenJess I ask myself if I've not used something, can I use it or at least imagine myself using it, and if things don't work and therefore can't be used can I get them mended , if not, pass on to someone who can or recycle/landfill.

Went through one drawer in the bedroom earlier plus the pot on the window sill above it considering if I actually use the things that are in there. The drawer has been getting emptier and emptier each round of decluttering, but I still managed to find loads in there. I moved a few things and now only have one pair of sunglasses in the drawer, which hopefully I can find another home for and then I can put something else in that drawer (no idea what yet). Maybe I'll move my gym clothes to it, although the drawer is a tiny one so not sure if they will fit. The only thing I kept which I technically don't use is a little mirror which I remember making with my grandparents. It has happy memories and so I like to keep it. I moved it to my bedside table drawer instead and can use it if I need a small mirror.I also put the toys I technically decluttered before holiday into the charity bag, so they are counted in the numbers below.
31,655 - cleaning overstock used up
31,656 - packaging (reused)
31,657 - paper fan (charity bag)
31,658 - bag not needed (bin)

31,661-31,678 - kids toys (charity bag)
31,679 - useless glasses case (binned)
31,680 - lenses taken out of an old pair of sunglasses (binned)

Kitchen only looking slightly better. OH is going to help with clearing out saucepan cupboard today which should create some space for other things to be put away.
Decided to let go of a large item from the living room. OH will take it to the recycling centre with a load of other things we’ve collected up to go.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅16 -
