1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Wednesday is another overcast, chilly day 😔 DH has obviously been up a while & is working on the Harley Davidson & DSis is also up. I woke just before 12:00 & am dressed & having my first cuppa. Forgot to mention that DH made a soup yesterday, so might have a bowl later when I am properly awake 😉
Wow that was a busy BH GrannyKate 👏🤩 Excellent decluttering 👏 especially as your boxes appear to be breeding 😉 I do remember Black Magic chocolates but always in a box rather than a tin 🤔 The handmade hankies look beautiful & the bag is so pretty 😍
diminua, brothers do occasionally need reminding that their sisters are nearly always ‘brighter’ than them 😉😉 Sounds like you had a lovely time in Holland & well done on resisting the lure of stationery, chocolate & small delft pieces 👏 Sorry to hear about your cousin 😔 I think ‘forgetting’ that someone has died is our brain’s way of letting us cope with the loss especially if it was unexpected & I agree that it does let us get on with everything else 😔 Great decluttering 👏
Excellent work sorting out & arranging the DVDs Brie 👏 Two into CS bag is a good start 😉 That will be 1080 CDs then 😱 I think OH might have a slight ‘issue’ 😉 Just the 8 copies of Warner’s Ring Cycle - approximately 120 hours of not so easy listening 😅 are you sure he isn’t Morse in disguise 🤣
Nice to see you Baxtersmum 👋 I believe you are counting down from 2023 so I owe you a Gold Star ⭐️ for passing 1518 👏 Next gold star will be when you reach 1013 😉
GrannyKate, a very busy BH afternoon 🙂 well done on completing everything from your ‘invisible’ list 👏
Excellent decluttering of books roundtuit 👏 Hopefully the super glue turned up in an unexpected place 🤞Perhaps sorting the ‘miscellaneous kitchen drawer’ can become number one on JJiJ (Jettison Junk in June) 😉
Excellent approach to decluttering kboss2010 👏Isn’t it great when you find a system that works for you 🥳 Great idea to take photos of leaflets & business cards as an aid to decluttering paperwork 👏One medal 🏅 coming your way for the reminder that photos are preferable to the clutter 🙂
Florenceem, well done on enlisting DGS J’s help to remove those pesky cobwebs 😊 Great news that MrF is looking forward to coming home 🥳 Shame that the ward is designated a Covid area but hopefully masks & gloves & limited visiting will soon see the back of it 🤞Great work decluttering cardboard boxes - creates so much space in any room once they are gone 👏
Great work creating space for OH to move in, oceanspirit 👏 Good luck with the menu plan & using up of OH’s food stores 🍀
Dfw38, a lovely welcome to leftatthtrafficlights 😊
You are very welcome nannywindow 😊 As I was reading your post (p470) I thought I was reading about myself 😉 Although if you are aware that you ‘go off at a tangent’ & remember that is what you do 😉 it can focus you to finish a task from start to finish 🤞Case in point is that you have had a busy session in your garden 👏🥳 Good luck with the spare bedroom 🍀
Well I have caught up a little more - 2.5 x 23 minute sessions 🙂 Although I do need to speed up a lot otherwise I risk falling further behind 😉 DH is still busy in the garage & DSis is about to have a bath 😉 I have some paperwork to deal with & I might even strip & remake my bed 😉 before another session of cheerleading 😉

So inspired by everyone on here and so glad to have Mrs SD keeping us going. Emotional clutter and RL been holding me back. DD1 now on holiday and left a trail of destruction with me under instructions not to touch anything. I have said I will move things to close doors and then I have to focus on my stuff. Much easier to moan about and tidy her stuff than deal with mine but reminding myself it is only what I do that I have any control over
I made myself pop out at lunchtime as working late, dropped off 10 bottles to boots recycling, 15 items to bank of things, 2 items returned as not as promised on website, and another item returned as fallen apart very quickly for refund. Went in CS and resisted buying anything. Making myself just push on with work and other stuff, anything out/tidied is a win.
Rounding to 700 as have done some frogs last week. Going to count regularly again as it does help, even if only 1 thing a day.
Take care all.

@Florenceem - that's seems a long way and I would make my feelings known at the hospital - 50 miles is just unreasonable.
The morning went ok but then I came home and fell asleep for a couple of hours. Study not really started yet. Opticians visit ok - I realised I had 100 day return guarantee so didn't need to worry about having to buy new from scratch after only 8 weeks. It turns out that the measurements were slightly out but the main problem was probably that I had been sold different varifocals to the ones I have had before and I probably needed my usual (more expensive ones) - not pointed out to me at the time. They were very nice and made a small adjustment to prescription and measurements and have ordered new. I can keep these frames until I collect new ones in 1-2 weeks. There was a £70 payment for the upgraded lens.
805 Plastcs dropped off at SM
806 Eyes retested and glasses on order
807 Visited farm shop and bought eggs and new potatoes. Returned 4 egg boxes.

Managed to open a few places that may not be a nightmare, but are too crammed for my liking. I managed to find enough stuff to declutter until the end of tomorrow now. I'm sure there is the odd thing floating around in most cupboards/drawers, but finding it is getting tough. I will be concentrating on getting some more gardening done, some more work and some tidying this afternoon. I always feel like I'm close but never quite there! The good news is that I have signed on the line and I now only work 4 days a week! I have booked to have my double oven range cooker cleaned + hob and extractor fan. I have never had it done before but thought I would splash out to save my back.
Been out to collect my telescopic window cleaning kit.
Paperwork collected only 1 pile left in the hall now.
Freegler collected.
Still trying to remove a hard water mark in my shower tray - used up a squeezy lemon on it - almost got it.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I know what you mean when you begin a task and distract yourself by uncovering something else that needs doing. I have done just that whilst having craft boxes and diy stuff out of the pantry.
I found a baby dress that was mine in my craft stuff. I was so close to throwing it but Mr V thinks I should save it.Many things listed on thrift site. Paint, filler, paint trays, rollers etc etc. Also a Habitat floor lamp. Knitting wool etc etc.
I think next time in the pantry of doom I will be more ruthless but I need to tidy up now before DS comes. I am amazed at how much has left this house this year. I honestly thought I would struggle to get to 365.New total 648:15 -

Had a lovely chat with neighbour G & his wife A. Our ‘slightly unstable neighbour’ was shouting the odds very aggressively today as he was having the excessively large/tall trees in his Back garden trimmed/pruned. She questioned his parentage but a firmly spoken “I Beg Your Pardon” sent her packing 😉 Fortunately G is a fairly easy going gentleman but she is rather scary when she is in full flow so G & A are a bit concerned as they have 2 boys & the neighbour seems to have no filters when it comes to her language 😔
16:27 DH has finished working on the bike for today 🙂 Several small successes but won’t do anymore work until next week, as we will be quite busy over the coming days - out for the day tomorrow with DH’s niece S, great niece S & great great nephew R; Friday/Saturday - baking for uncle’s funeral gathering; Sunday - packing & heading off to a B&B near to the church (as service starts at 10:00 on Monday). As the hm soup was a little thin, I boiled up a few small potatoes & we added them - another success for DH (7 of 7) 👏 I have dealt with my paperwork 🙂 & we have decided on tonight’s dinner. I haven’t changed the bedding yet 😔
QueenJess, nothing wrong with having a day out on a BH 😊 Great work finding the last 10 items in the kitchen 👏 I should have known you reverse menu plan 😉 🙄 Fingers crossed that now you have let us know that it is your freezer that is full, we can remind you NOT to buy any extra stock on your infrequent shopping trips 😉 Great decluttering 👏
Fizz2015, surely a practice walk is a couple of miles 😉😂 Well done to you & DD for completing 10.5 miles 👏 Beautiful view 🙂
florianatwobob you have been working hard 😓 The shelves have come up beautifully - a lovely piece of furniture 😊 You are making a really good job of the fire surround 👏 Looks like lovely wood 😊 Btw, I do remember you saying you got some ‘funny looks’ when you picked up the fire surround & walked home with it 😉 Beautiful flowers 💐 self seeding is my idea of great gardening 👏
Deni_debt-free_dreamer, another of the declutterati who has had a busy BH 👏
Excellent work disposing of the old shed & having so many bits & pieces prepped & ready to leave the house 👏 Keep up the good work with the email decluttering 🙂 Perhaps set some mini targets e.g. under 17k, then 16,750 etc 😉
Happy_Kitties, now that is what I call ‘guerrilla decluttering’ 😂 Please make sure you wear shoes when moving around the area where the vase was broken - as somehow, no matter how successful we think we have been in picking up the bits of glass, a few small pieces always manage to hide & catch us unawares ☹️ Excellent ‘intentional’ decluttering 👏
Lovely post daisy_1571 😊 An excellent idea for nannywindow (& me 😉)👏 worthy of a medal 🏅which is on its way.
Excellent work in the kitchen weenancy 👏 Hopefully tackling one cupboard at a time will reap results 🤞 Might be an idea to take photos as you go along to discover exactly how many sets of pots & pans you have 😉 Good luck with your PowerPoint presentation 🍀 An interesting Sunday 😉 but I was rather pleased to hear that you were away dog sitting at your sister’s place 😊 Very pleased that it was all sorted with the added bonus of introducing neighbours to each other 😊 Excellent decluttering to your sister 👏 How stressful to have to go back & forth to the pharmacy 😔 Good job you had a copy of the instructions listing all the medications needed 😮💨 Hope everything goes really well on Thursday & that you recover quickly 😊 What a marvellous donation by your friend - especially as they are hardbacks 🤩🥳 I hope she isn’t moving too far so that you can still keep in touch 🤞 With the amount of books you now have the book sale should be a roaring success 😊
2 more lots of 23 minutes cheerleading done so will post this & be back after dinner 🙂 P.S. we have clear blue skies & the sun has put in an appearance but there is a very chilly & strong breeze 😔

Oh dear I seem to have decluttered my next door neighbours 😂 They have moved from the rented house next door into a new build house, hope they will be happy there.
I decided to start swapping my winter clothes with my summer ones and I found 2 nice blouses which I haven't worn for years, a black suit which contained a very tight pencil skirt ( I kept the jacket and I'll wear that with trousers) and 2 pairs of too small new trousers. I won't ever wear any of it so everything is now destined for the cs.
nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently15 -
Most of upstairs cleaned this morning, this afternoon should have been working on downstairs and my dc decided to be little rascals and basically anything I achieved was quickly undone. Did some unit swapping across house and have got a unit to go on freecycle tonight as no longer needed.
Need to do some clearing in living room and carpet to shampoo, wipe down bathroom and kitchen and it is as good as it will get for tomorrow's visitors. I am absolutely knackered and would rather settle down to the end of series 4 stranger things but needs must 🙄2024 decluttering Campaign
