Hi everyone, coming back in from the cold as haven't been on the thread in months and way too much to try and catch up on. It's been pretty hectic since Christmas; my dad's health hasn't been great and he's now actually in hospital and on his way to getting the treatment he needs. As a result I've been living at my parents house for the last week and a half and well...you may remember last year I planned to help my parents try to clear out their house so we could start redecorating it etc? Well it turns out, they didn't get rid of anything, just hid it all away whenever I came over. They did get derailed by having to have their roof replaced so at least the house is relatively water tight now - just new doors and windows next 🤣
So to keep my mother busy while my dad's not here, I've tasked her to sort one drawer / cupboard / box. So far we have 5 bags to take to the charity shop and another 5 to take to the recycling centre this afternoon once I've finished work. Really hoping we can make some progress over the next couple of weeks so the place is a bit more manageable when my dad comes home. So nothing to add to my personal total but definitely A LOT of things leaving my parents house soon.
So hugs to those that need them, and I'll try and update you on the progress as we go.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201713 -
I'm backThe wonderful weather of the long weekend spurred us on to move the stuff we have in storage in next door neighbours' empty house back to our attic. Unfortunately, we found that it had all got a bit damp, just a little bit, but everything smelled musty. So, fortunately, we had wonderful weather, and I did 7 loads of laundry. I wiped down everything that could be wiped, and threw the rest in the sunshine to 'un-damp'.All of a sudden, husband realised how many clothes he actually has, and that he has multiples (4 pairs of beige trousers, all same brand, same size....). And that dds have many clothes in storage, and then he started to mansplain how I should deal with those clothes and which ones could go to Africa! I was beyond annoyed! I told him I had a system in place for the last 15 years! The only good that came of this is that he now helps me insist that dds try on the clothes before they decide they don't want them; there are lots of jeans and neutral shirts, nice brands, too.Anyway, husband has suggested we put the old wardrobe back up in our bedroom, which I'm pleased with. It's a German antique serpentine walnut 4-door; I haven't been able to find a similar one on the whole wide web.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.5916

Not much happening here as I'm struggling to re-adjust to the working week after the long weekend and coming to the end of a lot of work things. I don't have much enthusiasm for starting new things.Will try to be more productive this afternoon. I went through the cupboard upstairs to remind myself what additional bathroom supplies are in. I have 1.5 small baskets of stuff (DH has 3!) which I am trying to get down to pretty much nil. I should only have what I am using plus an extra one if I'm nearly at the end of something I'm using. I will allow extra things like toothpaste if they are on offer when I am buying anyway. I'm definitely making progress, but it will likely take years as my parents gave me at least 5 years worth of dental floss that I am very slowly making my way through and I still have 2-3 years worth of moisturiser. It did remind me what was in there though, so I won't be overbuying any of it.I did decide to donate a bag to charity which I absolutely love, but the black comes off the handles onto my clothes, so I avoid ever using it. Seemed silly to keep it, so I will be on the lookout for a second hand replacement one if I can find one. Lots of people picking up stuff today, so the library floor keeps getting clearer and clearer. Will try to catch up on some tidying later until my next decluttering inspiration strikes.15,115 - bag (charity bag)15,116 - plastic bag (reused for sales)15,117 - instructions not needed (recycled)2025 decluttering: 3,507🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Lo e the photos of tins and hanky puches. I have a lot of shoe and other bags. I've found lots of hankies at my dad's and decided to use. Great for cleaning glasses ( eye ones) as well.
Been reading and about to post and then something crops up needing urgent attention!16 -

Thanks for your post Daisy, it is much appreciated. Sadly I still haven't got my brain trained in doing one thing at a time in the last 70 years, DH says I have a butterfly mind and I follow my Dad. I think I must have also been dropped on my head as a baby 😂
This morning I did sort out the mess I created in the spare bedroom and everything is now in it's rightful place. I found a large plastic container and it now holds our winter hoodies etc. instead of them on piled on a chair and now they are out of sight in the bottom of a wardrobe. Unfortunately nothing has been decluttered except for daily stuff and the contents of the waste bin.
nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently15 -
Congrats to son @crazy_cat_lady2
DGS1 has his test booked in a few weeks. DD home from lovely trip to the sunshine but now has to clear her pantry for some work tomorrow. DGD1 complained there were no pot noodles - so far DD has found 13 (all in date) in the pantry. She also has enough soup to open a soup kitchen.
Well I selected the utility room for action - it has taken nearly all day but I've had a lot of tea breaks.
