Mrs F - I recommend AgeUK's fact sheet but to quote from it (this is what you need) ;
Lasting power of attorney (LPA)There are two different LPAs: one for health and care decisions and one for financial decisions. The LPA for health and care decisions can only be used if you lose mental capacity. The LPA for financial decisions can also be used while you still have mental capacity, if you choose this option while creating it.
I was referring before to WH Smith as Taff has already mentioned.

Hello all! I survived 🥳 7 hours and 21 minutes but all completed! Mainly walked with a small amount of running, 2 hours in the rain. Hurt my foot, ankle, knee and hip (all one side thankfully, think it was from the repeated impact) but didn't have to resort to crawling.... 😀 and.... I have signed up for the ballot for next year 🤣. Will catch up on everyone's posts later. ❤️

If the letter of authority Mr F signed doesn't mention any specific organisation then it can be used for almost any. We do this when helping people that come for debt advice. That said some banks do ask for something specific to them and have an end date - like 30 days - so the access is limited. (can't remember if it was NatWest or Nationwide that caused a fuss for us & a client)
I would expect that someone computer savvy such as yourself would have no problem doing the diy PoAs (get one for health and one for finances). And I'm sure there will be someone in your SA gang that can help with the witnessing etcetera. And I don't think you actually need a doctor to confirm his state of mind. Again I think someone from SA may be able to do this as they know him well. And MrF will need to be part of the signing process if it is to succeed. The downside though is that, according to the website, it can take up to 20 weeks to register a PoA. But if you go down that route do check if you qualify for a reduction in the £82 fee.
Meanwhile back a chez Brie....OH has gone out to the shops to decide what he wants for dinner. AND he has taken with him a jacket that he no longer likes and a big banana box of practically new shoes. Inspired I've tidied the room of doom, put away 2 winter coats and a fleece that I'm hoping won't be needed until October (others are available...), put away my big travel postal bag (cross body bag perfect to hold everything when we're wandering about on hols), also the bag of winter gloves and scarves. Even that makes the room better and it's easier to see what mess is left to be sorted. On the down side - OH put on a tshirt this morning, said "this doesn't fit anymore" and took it off and offered it to me to wear instead. Not one I like so I said "put it in the charity shop bag" which was sitting right there and he simply put it on top of the bag. Small growl on that one!!!

I was feeling very stressed about the mess in the house (to be fair, it's not really that bad, but it is a permanent reminder of things I need to do). I tried to focus on a single thing and so bit the bullet and organised the future present drawer. There were a bunch of things I had forgotten about (which was why I needed it all together) and I've purged some stuff in there. I've squeezed it all into a single drawer with 2 games to go into the attic as I will save them for DD when she's older and a 3-4 Lego sets in a separate box we were gifted (some used, some not) that aren't DS's thing. He will happily have any Lego, but I would rather get him pieces or something he really wanted. They are pending on DH's decision on whether I can gift them back again/sell etc. He says he will look later and to remind him.Feel a bit better now and tons more onto Buy Nothing. I do think this decluttering is a moving target when you have kids growing up and tastes changing all the time. Plus I think my patience declines and I want to be more minimalist everyday, but the decluttering never quite catches up with this wish! Once the worst areas are sorted, I will be challenging myself on whether I really need everything in various cupboards/drawers. More of the Great Lego sorting with DS will be done this evening... Loads of Buy Nothing stuff is labelled outside my door for people to pick up... wish me luck that everyone turns up!Digital:

It's far too big for the drawer so would have to go in the attic. I will have a think about whether I should give it to him or re-gift... will consult DH on his thoughts later..@Mrs_Salad_Dodger DH and DS are very proud of their medals. @Dfw38 well done!!
Gorgeous sunshine and blue skies here today. Decluttered the laundry pile, 3 loads washed, dried and folded. Just need to put away. Sorted out recycling for the Tetra scheme and in carboot ready to drop off tomorrow. Did drop 2 bags of soft plastics off at Asda.
My house is still a tip and I just don't know where to start. So instead of stressing I went out with MIL instead. 🤣 much nicer use of my time than tidying, chores and decluttering!
