Florenceem, just my opinion and I'm not a solicitor but I wouldn't completly discount the chance of getting poa as when mr f is fine it appears he would be fine to understand what he is signing?
(Not intended as legal advice- just my opinion. They say you need an individually designed one but that's a load of hooey in my very humble opinion, my parents ones and my in laws ones (different solicitors at different times) were exact copies and after the first page or two where the names etc go were clearly photocopies of standard paragraphs/pages. Would be quicker if you can get hold of one from someone else and carefully type it up. It then needs to be registered. Up here thats taking a good while, they haven't seemed to have recovered from pandemic back logs. As with a lot of things you don't have to get professionals to do it but of course although that takes longer you also get their professional opinions, expertise and the comfort of them taking the responsibilities so each case is different.)
Hope he has a good day today and you manage to get some expert help at the hospital

Daisy xxxJust want to agree with this - although a medical / legal professional will have to confirm that MrF is competent to sign the document. This is the same for everyone. Florenceem - please try this tack as you will need this, or the more difficult to get 'deputy'. This all shows the need for those of us who are fit and healthy now to make sure that provision is in place - a very import 'justin' which won't be decluttered. It also highlights how leaving all family admin to one person is a real problem.Don't mean to preach, I really feel that this is an important matter which often gets neglected. Now, my slow and intermittent decluttering is still taking place. Nothing which is worth reporting about. A bag here (to CS), a bunch of post-it-notes and pens to a friend and so on. After doing a huge amount in 2021 and into 2022 I'm a bit worn out by it mentally. I still have some items of my late DM which are hanging on by an emotional thread, something which is doing me no good so I'm hunting out tough scissors to cut the tie. Guilt be damned - keeping things which my DM treasured and I don't is just taking up too much of my emotions and thought processes. Sometime over the summer I will take decisive action!I'm still in awe of the amount of stuff being shifted by those here and offer my own 'well done'.20 -
@florenceem just to add to power of attorney debate. My Mum was barely lucid when we organised her power of attorney with a proffesional who came to their house. We caught her in a good moment and he confirmed she was of sound mind. Mr F sounds like he is almost back to normal self but very down obviously. As long as he is prepared to sign it I am absolutely sure that it will be easy for you to get power of attorney. Hopefully he will gain a more positive attitude soon. Sounds like he is greiving the loss of his job. It can be like greiving the loss of a loved one I believe.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

Mrs F Agree with others without saying I am giving legal advice. The thing about 'capacity' is that it is time and topic specific. Someone may have moments of being completely lucid and then be talking nonsense 5 minutes later. We had POA for my mother but ran into a problem when it came to the complicated trust relating to the flat which needed to be sold but wasn't covered by POA. On a good day, with an independent witness, we were able to discuss fully with mother and solicitor was happy with her signing the papers. You can still get POA packs to do yourself - in well known high street shop I think. Does Mr F have online accounts for utilities etc as this would help if he is happy to share password. Banks are more tricky and it sounds like you may have complications if business and personal finances are not completely separate.
Trying to get motivated - I have 4 hours free to get on with jobs.2025 Decluttering Campaign 733/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

PS - registration of POA is taking a very long time just now. My solicitor lodged it online and then advised the OPG that registering mine was an emergency (for various reasons) and it was back with her in four days.

All the talk of PoA's have prompted me to give my father 'homework'. He has 3 forms of cancer, and is now - unfortunately - in the palliative care stage. Still at home, still clearminded, but he received his first morphine plaster yesterday and we don't know how much longer he will be clearminded. I told him to take his tablet and go through all the apps, and note down log-in details for my Mum. I have also asked them to check if their bills are in both their names, or just his. My father has also promised to make a list of any subscriptions (hobby magazine, quarterly magazine from former employer, etc.) that can be stopped after he has passed away.

I'm about to complete LPOA forms as I'm waiting to have surgery for breast cancer, so thought it time they were done. I'm not expecting them to be used, but if they are submitted hopefully they can be activated quickly in the event of need.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Thanks for all the advice about POA. I have been to the Gov site to request a form. What high street shop is it where you can get a paper copy of POA form please?
There are lots of sites advertising POA but some are the limited power ones and I think I want LPOA.
I haven't wanted to mention it to MR F but if he is giving up - I must do something.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed

3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)

5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
The darkness was a precursor to rain which it did on & off from about 18:30 to to midnight. Dinner was pork steaks, tomatoes, boiled baby potatoes & cauliflower 🤤 Wudupa.

Tuesday is sunny & dry but chilly. I was up & dressed by 10:00 just in time to say goodbye to DH who is meeting up with an old school friend (A) for lunch. They haven’t seen each other for a few years as A has had health issues & has been rather reclusive 😉 However, out of the blue, A contacted DH a couple of weeks ago 😊 DH will then head off to visit G in hospital, so will be out until about 20:00. My plan for today, after my first cuppa, is to head off to Canary Wharf to bank cheques & get some cash & then off to As** for a small food shop.
Brie, go on - admit it, you were a little pleased that OH started decluttering 😉 Just a shame that he thwarted your decluttering task 🙊 Hopefully he will make a fair few pennies & treat you to a day out 🤞
Great decluttering Florenceem 👏 Sounds like MrF is getting physically & medically better so one worry allayed. As to his current depression, is there an SA officer who he gets on well with who could perhaps talk to him?
Thank you Floss & Marpau for the extra information about the help that is available in such a situation 🙂
Blue_Doggy, great idea re QueenJess’s excess packaging 🙂 Great decluttering & completion of household tasks 👏 Ironing definitely counts 😉 Hope the eye clinic appointment went well & that there are no issues to be dealt with 🤞
An excellent start to your spring cleaning vulpix 👏 Love that MrV is participating fully & being ruthless in his decluttering 🥳 Re your shoes, perhaps you could try them all on & make sure they are still comfortable & in good condition 😉
Breaking off from specific cheerleading to thank various people (Muddy_Walker, SuperMoose, TC77, GrannyKate, daisy_1571, Gers, Soontobeoap) for the extra information that they are sharing with Florenceem 👏 The unstinting support for Florenceem & MrF & all those having a tough time makes me so grateful to be a part of our decluttering family 😊
Muddy_Walker, your TB is definitely squeezing out your very last drop of good will 🤬😡🤬 I still think that it might be a good idea to speak to HR 😉
QueenJess, I can see where you are coming from - although I would rephrase slightly from ‘punishing’ to ‘learning a valuable lesson’ 😉 I do hope everyone turns up to collect their books 🤞 Keep up the good work with the ‘great Lego sort out’ 🙂
Thanks for the compliment TC77 👏 Good luck with your outstanding, long term frogs 🍀 Hopefully now that you are becoming more organised with your electronic items the frogs will be despatched far more quickly 🤞
Excellent decluttering GrannyKate 👏 Sorry to hear that DGD4 has been unwell, hopefully she will recover quickly 🤞
TC77, good luck with your continuing work on becoming more systematic with your electronic items 🍀Keep up the good work 👏
Excellent decluttering Florenceem 👏
I am just finishing my 2nd cuppa & will be heading out shortly, so am posting & will return later to finish the cheerleading 🤞
