HERE IS TO A HAPPY, HEALTHY & PROSPEROUS 2023 WITH A SIDE DISH OF SUCCESSFUL DECLUTTERING
The 2023 EDT is now fully stocked & staffed & is travelling around the U.K, Europe & North America picking up ALL our declutterers - VETERANS & NEWBIES + there is plenty of room for Lurkers to jump aboard (you know you want to 😉)
My virtual self - you know the one - healthy, slim & fit 😂 is currently running to catch up with the 2023 EDT which is gathering speed 😉 ………………………………… yippee I have managed to jump aboard 🥳Excuse me for a couple of minutes, I need to have a quick word with the train driver & get her to slow down. I think she has got a bit excited about starting our 2023 Decluttering Journey 😉………. Ah that’s better, a nice sedate pace whilst we all jump aboard.
My 1st of January started well, up & dressed just before 9:00 a.m. Lovely day outside dry, barely a cloud in the sky & bright 🙂 It has since clouded over but still no threat of rain. I have mended one of DH’s motorcycling gloves - 0.5” of stitching had come undone - took rather longer than expected as the glove is leather & suede. A great sense of satisfaction though as it had been hanging around for a couple of months 😉 I have also gone through my spice drawer - decanting & combining open pots/jars; refilled liquid soap dispenser & filled sugar bowl. No major decluttering but in line with no.6 of my 2023 Daily Mantra List 🙂 See below:-
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3.Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with daily mail immediately
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6.If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
My target for the year is 2023 items/tasks/frogs. As to my ‘Good Intentions’ (I don’t do Resolutions any more as they are either success or failure 😉) for 2023, I am still pondering & fine tuning those. They need to be worded in such a way that they are S.M.A.R.T. 🙂 so I can celebrate partial successes 😉
As the train has moved sooooo fast, we are on page 22 & there are currently 97 of us aboard 👏 I will forgo individual cheerleading in favour of a small speech 😉 so here goes
What a great start to the 2023 Decluttering Journey. So many already aboard. Our Veterans are already knuckling down to the task in hand & also offering pearls of wisdom to our Newbies. Excellent cheerleading & support is already in evidence with minimal input from me - thank you Veterans for making our Newbies so very welcome. One post stood out for me - page 12 from daisy_1571
It was a beautiful welcome & instruction manual for our Newbies as well as a timely reminder for us Veterans 👏 So the honour of being awarded the first Gold Star ⭐️ goes to daisy_1571 🥳 Now I would like to specifically welcome our Newbies who have found us & taken their first step on the 2023 Decluttering Journey by signing up. Some of you have already knuckled down & made a start 👏Remember to have a little explore of the EDT especially the TLC Carriage 😊 - have a cuppa & a chat.
As daisy said we are running a marathon not a sprint & we are all here ready to support each other 😊

I'm in for 2023. I thought I was working well towards minimalism, but I lost my mum just over a year ago and have gained quite a bit of her stuff that I need to work through. I have to clear out the spare room as a window needs to be replaced and it needs the paint refreshed and my dad now comes to stay more so I'd like it to be more comfortable for him. So today I tackled the collection of jigsaws I gathered over the last couple of years that were in the spare wardrobe, and have 24 bagged up ready for the charity shop on Tuesday. Will do the ones left again and make sure I really enjoy them as there are still too many! Tree is down and ornaments away, all the Christmas food has been eaten apart from half a pack of crackers that we'll finish up for lunch tomorrow. Planning to eat out of the cupboards and freezer for as much of January as possible. Tomorrow I'm tackling my still out of control stash of toiletries - I got through most of 2022 only buying a few essentials to replace used up items but still have far too much even after almost two years of trying to destash. I'm going to try out some new products I have over the next few days while I'm at home and if they don't suit me they can be immediately donated to friends to try. I really want this year to be the year I get everything decluttered and feel better about my space!"I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." Paul Theroux23

I'm would like to declutte 2023 by selling, donating to charity or recycling and binning anything that I can't do any of the above.

I have a bag containing 20+ books of clarinet and violin music ,the son who regularly murdered the violin is 46 next week and the daughter who played the clarinet so beautifully died 12 yrs ago next Wednesday
.None-of their children has ever shown any desire to learn either instrument and as the youngest is 11 ,time for them to go ,chucked some of the torn ones .
Also 20+ maps including OS which I thought my son would want ,but no ,apparently you can get them all on Google maps no .Who knew ?
all for CS
Binned lots of out of date maps 2008 of small local town etc !
In amongst a pair of baby scissors, pink , my only granddaughter is 20 this year .!
Tomorrow I will hoover out the space where the baskets were and decide what next

You're all off to a great start. Am itching to join you but not back home for another week, possibly two so have to be patient.
OH and I have made an outline plan as to how we are going to approach the next few months. Health is the top priority along with self care (which includes doing the things that are most important to us). This means that other people and other things will have to fit around us for a change.
Decluttering will continue. A few more boxes to sort through followed by thinking about how to best store what remains. Clothing will need to be gone through again as some items are now on their own, either needing to go as well or something new obtained to go with them. Maybe a whole change of style?
A large number of emails still need to be gone through and a big list of frogs plus a list of home maintenance to be tackled.
Have changed my mind about counting things now that the end is in sight and will celebrate each section of tasks completed instead. I will know what they are when they happen.
Hope that all makes sense.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅22 -

Phew, just got on, not counting til tomorrow and as I've come down to my dads I think I'll be bringing things in. So far found boxesnof buttons, never can get rid of these but will take and sort out sometime, like the idea or changing buttons on an outfit ,- not sure I need boxes to choose from, slotted spoon, a 1950s knife sharpener which I need to get the rust off( think white vinefar) googled the make and seems lots of people still using them
Hoping I won't be bringing in 2023!20 -
Happy New Year all! The fireworks here started at 6pm and finished some time around 2am, even a few this evening. Late start for me as I went back to sleep at 10.20am and woke up at 1pm. (must have needed it) No laundry, washing up or rubbish out of the flat till tomorrow but a few things herded.
1-4: 3 GB data and 50 emails deleted (50 emails =1 to my total.)
5-8: 4 items to recycling
9-17: items to binbag.
I'm running 2 totals this year: the everyday and the delayed decisions. I have numerous 32 litre boxes in the cupboard at the top of the stairs that have barely moved since I moved in in 2015 as well as the stuff inherited from late family members.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.
