Morning all and happy new year,All the house has been cleaned and the Christmas decs put back in the loft. I threw away several sets of lights that were broken. I love Christmas but I'm always glad when it's done. Just having a break for lunch then I'll go and sort out the kitchen. There's hardly any food left over this year as I bought less crap. We have a joint of beef and chicken in the freezer still for Sunday dinners.I tend to tackle things I can stand doing at the time. Off to check my emails.22

Hi all, up to page 20 and it's only the 1st Jan
Well I have made a decision on a target........I am going for 2023 (I am treading fearfully as I still have a bit of a hatred of targets but I think it's time I got over this )
Like most people I have various recepticles around the house for rubbish and recycling so I will be counting these as 1 thing when they are emptied. They will have normal stuff in as well as newly decluttered stuff but I know I will not remember everything so I am hoping the incentive of filling the bag will spur me on
Stuff that is either too big to fit in these or goes straight into the outside bins will be counted separately, stuff that is taken to the cs or sold, ( hopefully some stuff), or put on free sites will be counted separately as this does invlove some effort. I will include tasks and frogs. I will count 100 deleted emails as 1 as I have really let that slide and it's becoming a whole field of cane toads
I will be counting garden rubbish, full green waste bin I will count as 4 as it will hold 4 big bags full when squashed down. I will also be counting garden waste from OHs house as I need to crack on with that as well. After reading a few others suggestions I am also going to include self care sessions as 1. Like a lot of people I have various lotions and potions to use up and yet I very rarely make the time to use them and I do get told off by medical people for not doing it so I am hoping writing it down and counting it will help me remember to do it
I really have much too much stuff and it's not good for me but I just have to keep at it so onwards and upwards as they say. I would like to know who THEY are who keep saying these things
I will try to post more regularly so I don't forget things
Off now to catch up on the previous posts
Take care everyone21 -
callas said:Happy New Year everyone.Yesterday evening was quiet so I spent the time going through a huge basket of maps, tickets and tourist information leaflets I have collected over the years. I had planned to put them in a scrap book - I have admitted to myself that's not going to happen. So I filled the evening going through everything and binning most of it. I have kept a map for each city and a small collection of the more colourful and interesting tickets which fit into a plastic folder and have a big black bin bag full of the rest. It was a nice feeling walking into the sitting room this morning knowing I had finally addressed that little problem. Just need to get rid of the black bin bag.I have also over the years collected up hotel soaps - why I haven't used them I don't know. I have a large shell which I have put in the bathroom and I have stopped buying soap. Instead we have to use up the hotel soaps. At first I didn't want to use them - I can't give you a reason why, then when they started disappearing I felt really happy. Can't wait to get to the end now.Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. wow this thread moves quicker than I expected!January has started well. I decided to start in the lounge:I have packed away christmas (not that we have much in the way of decorations! but it is loveyt to reclaim the space that the tree takes up! The lounge has had a super tiday/sort/clean and declutter. A bag for the charity shop, recycling. This room is very nearly decluttered, but another hour or 2 of cleaning (windows) and sorting through the pile of clutter i put in a handy washing basket and that will be room 1 ticked off.yey go me!I like feeling motivatedthank you to this forumFlowers♥️ ♥️ ♥️🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸Decluttering 2025 So far 403 / 2025

I have put myself on an increasing stamina regime, getting back to 10,000 + steps a day, but it keeps knocking me off my feet - for now. So I don't think any decluttering is going to happen today!3-month emergency fund (Cash ISA & PBs): £4744/ £6,000

Happy New Year to all!
Christmas decs taken down today (I hate going back to work and then having to take them down) whilst sorting through the boxes we found some bits that can leave so they’re in the charity bag. Also found some decs that would do nicely as autumnal decorations so have separated those out for next autumn.I had a ferret around and have corralled the various shower gels I’ve been gifted (I promise I do wash….it’s not a subtle hint to me 😉) in one wicker basket for easy access over the up coming year.Bed stripped and remade however I’m not tempting Fate so, whilst the bedding is in the machine, it’s not going on until tomorrow!✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Hello everyone! Had to skim the posts as there are loads already 🫣
I’m going with visual too…..it will be easier to clean if there is less to clean.
I don’t make resolutions as such as a) I’m terrible at keeping them b) something derails me and then I get all huffy and beat myself up which is no good to anyone!
what I do want to do is more walking and get my fitness up for a possible operation on my liver, spend much less time on FB and do more craft stuff. I have discovered paint pouring and really like it!
so today I:
Got rid of 12 magazines I won’t ever read.
Did some training outside with younger dog - all went well until he saw a small yappy dog….sigh
Paint poured 2 rocks.
it’s hammering down now so older dog walk will have to be later.

Can I join in please? My house has been making me so miserable recently. It is a long-term renovation where so much needs doing (and most of it by me), and little jobs quickly snowball that I just feel completely overwhelmed and end up not doing anything. Including housework. The place is filthy as I’ve had little motivation to clean when living in a self-inflicted building site. At the moment there is not one room finished and with the house feeling like a huge Tetris game, not one room that is nice enough to sit and relax. Each room feels like an obstacle course.
The overall vision has got in the way of making it liveable, so my goal isn’t about numbers. Rather, to forget the big jobs that can’t happen for possibly years (funding!) as they are holding me back, and to make the house a home this year.
I want to start with decluttering, just a bit at a time, just enough to make me feel I have made a little progress. Do something each weekend. Then to start putting each room back in order ready to decorate. In a simple way that I can keep motivated to clean. Then to start being able to relax a bit, take up my crafts again. Get back to being me a bit.
It will take a while.
So today I have been working on the back reception room that is a decent size, yet has nowhere free to sit. It is stupid how bad it has got.
I have had covid over Christmas and get tired easily, so it is taking me a while. But I have cleared out a bookcase, sending some off to Ziffit and some to recycling. I have also sorted a large pile from one of the chairs into charity shop donations or recycling. And emptied several old file boxes that hat have sat for 6 years waiting to be checked. Turns out there was very little of importance.Just that little bit has made me feel better. A few more piles to sort and then I am going to rearrange the furniture to make it into a more useable room that I can put my spinning wheel in.25 -
Hi everyone
I have never heard of any of those superstitions before! I will adhere to them all and haven't put the washing machine on even though i have an overflowing washing bin!
I seem to have been accumulating rather than decluttering recently. I have bought myself a couple of new clothing items but will go through my wardrobe and get rid of a few things once the CS are back open.
I am adding another target which is to put things away. I have just put away my birthday presents - my birthday was in october oops
love to all
