Thank you @Mrs_Salad_Dodger and @Moorviews a girl crashed into her at school and she smacked her head on the pavement. Had a lump and headache and was fine until the early hours. She seems better today, eaten breakfast and has been arguing with her sister so I think we are well on the road to recovery 🤣.
Last night dh started sorting the room of doom which was a total surprise! I was in charge of removing the items he no longer wanted. Got rid of an old briefcase, an exterior light that doesn't work, an old TV that we have no use for, a long pole for decorating ceilings with a roller (I never use it and inlaws gave it to us to clear it from theirs....) and he has moved some of his tools into his shed.... totally surprised me! He was inspired by some of the nice units in the Swedish store and wants to start getting organised so we can get some. I went for a short walk first thing and have started clearing bedroom 1 ready for the sugar soap and ceiling painting today wahoo! I have also just remembered that I never posted a picture of the blanket I made myself. It isn't perfect but I love it. Used William Morris fat quarters (certainly cannot afford the wallpaper so that is my compromise.) Have a lovely day everyone 😊2024 decluttering Campaign

Good morning all - gradually starting to feel better but not doing much - I don't react well to sedation so think that may be my problem in part. Had a granny nap yesterday evening and missed programme I was watching but woke up in time to catch the last part of the Roy Orbison programme which I enjoyed. Thanks for the ⭐️ Mrs SD.
@diminua Walking up Purley Way reminded me of catching the bus to Purley and walking up Purley Way with DB3 to the open air swimming pool opposite the old Croydon Airport. Many years ago now - it is 53 years since I lived in Surrey. I bought half of my March birthday cards yesterday and had a moment of sadness for the loss of DB3 last summer as he would have been 70 this March.
@joanie - I have kept the basic stuff from house purchase - deeds are in safe with confirmation of paying off from mortgage company. I also have a small box in loft for all the plans, permissions, building control, inspections etc for the extension we did 10 years ago.
195 Gave under sink recycling bins a proper clean and left them outside to dry off.
196 General tat from main bathroom binned
197 About 10 (yes 10) toothbrushes which children seemed to be using binned and new ones left out for when they come Thursday. I changed mine for a new one as well.
198 Found some strips you put in toilet pan for freshness. Cleaner must have left them a couple of years ago - used and packet recycled
199 Old bath mat binned
200 Children's bathroom stool to CS - they are too tall for it now
201 Various empty pots binned or recycled
202 General tat from garage binned or recycled
203 Tins of paint to tip replaced with new ones left by decorators - labelled so I know which colour is where
204 Some wood to tip - old skirting left behind
205 Two bags of plastic recycling to SM
206 New bathroom accessories for main bathroom - old ones binned or CS

@EnergyShifter I did that a few years ago, but I kept my very long hair. I really hated the peroxide blonde look. I used that purple shampoo to blend it all in together. I love my long, curly grey hair. Nothing like growing old disgracefully. Plus red lipstick now looks fantastic.17

Hi all, currently on my 3rd cuppa listening to the radio. OH is still snoozing
On the subject of cardboard boxes, yes I also have a few. The thing with them is they are useful, especially if like me you have family and friends who live a distance away so they are needed to post things in. I get in a right mood if I have to buy a box just to post something. Sometimes I have been known to adjust the present to fit in a box
I have caught up with all the posts but I have slept since so I am struggling to remember who said whatand everyone is doing so well it's amazing the amount of stuff we are all decluttering. One thing that did stay with me was @grandmanerd definitely recommend your relative changes the locks. At this stage she probably only has a vague idea of exactly what is in the house and while most people are honest and trustworthy she will always worry about it and could do without the added stress. Also maybe she can put off the toxic cousin until the weather is better so there is no excuse to be in the house all day etc which will give her time to make some decisions about what she wants to keep, or if she is feeling brave just say no as she has far too much to deal with atm without having to entertain guests.
I have read through the article and to be honest I am not a fan. I have a few containers for things like rice that comes in floppy plastic bags etc but I don't understand the need to decant everything into other containers that then need to be labelled so you know what it is. I get that it makes it easy to see what you are running short of but I just keep a magnetized list on the fridge and write on it when I know I will need more of something the next time I use it iyswIm. Plus I could never remember the cooking instructions for everything. As for batch cooking, yes that is useful but I don't have 7 draws in my freezer and while meal planning is good sometimes you just fancy something else. As for putting her daughter's clothes in 7 draws yes I can see that helping with getting dressed in the morning but how much involvement does her daughter have in the process. I would have rebelled by the time I was about 7. Also I have to say I prefer a house that is a home not a show house, the thought of never having a child's picture stuck on the fridge is just too sad. I do think it causes aspirational stress for some people as well as financial stress buying all those containers which I think makes her cupboards look like a shop display. I do feel a bit sorry for her actually that she feels so insecure she has to control everything so minutely, she must live with constant anxiety in case her stock cubes are half a centimetre out of place. Not a place I want to go to, that is what cupboard doors are for. Tidy and organised yes but when taken to these extremes no, not going to happen in my house
OH has just got up so time to go and see if we can clear some carp, wish me luck
Take care everyone17 -
Hugs @Muddy_Walker Those needles are rotten.
I think we had 10 bags of shreddable waste when big sis died. I took it to a secure waste firm for shredding as there was so much. All that went in the waste was confidential after I had taken a ton out for general recycling.
Good luck with the whole house sort out @DundeeDoll I am hoping for the same this year. Progress being forced along by visitors coming this month and DS1 staying due to splitting with his wife.
So a bit of energy to tackle the house which is starting to look messy again. DH at his parents. He put together a wardrobe yesterday for them and is attaching the doors today He is also putting pictures up and waiting in for the boiler man to do his service.
DS1 is at work. They are spiltting their finances properly so it looks like a long term split. Sad but neither of them was happy and neither of them are very adaptable to change. I will go visit the DiL today as she also needs spome support. She has only one friend due and me for support.
Our Canadian visitor has landed but is staying in Manchester with DD for a week. I need the house ready for next Sunday.I am sure he is not going to be too bothered but for me it is a great immovable target.
Have a great day all.
