Been watching nick Knowles and then in bed looking for hand cream, can't see it but can see assorted piles of things !
Setting myself a target by Sunday night of putting 100 things away in a proper away place or given away/ recycled etc. Excluding my work.stuff as that gets tidied and messy again all the time. So either goes in drawers or if they're full something has to go out. I can remember when it didn't look like this and still uncertain how it got here but do know loss and difficult stuff has led to some of it.
Mrs SD I went in the CS and found a friend volunteering and had to ask about the beanies as I couldn't see them. She checked in the back and they had all been put out and has been a roaring trade and they've all sold!
Take care all , nearly the weekend !19 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with daily mail immediately
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
After packing away the shopping, I did precisely nothing apart from watch TV & nap. DSis is still unwell - she had some more toast & then a sausage roll which Great gave her a stomach ache 😔 DH & I finished off the cottage pie with lo cabbage & DSis finally had baked beans on toast & is just about O.K. Wudupa.
276 - 277 Kitchen recycling, plastic bottle - recycled
278 Kitchen detritus binned
Gers, what a lovely & personal memento of your dad 😊
Thanks short_bird - I was a lot slimmer in the 70’s so probably didn’t notice sizing discrepancies 😉
Wow you have been busy Dfw38 🤩 Excellent decluttering 👏
Blue_Doggy, thanks for the link 👏 Dog snuggling sounds lovely too 😊
Excellent decluttering regnbue 👏 Well done on dealing with a major frog & saving money into the bargain + sorting out your insurance as well 👏 Not only are you almost half way to your decluttering target but you are a third of the way to your money target 🥳
Liverpool_Anne, the following is said in a jokey tone ‘there is no getting off the EDT - you are either relaxing in the TLC Carriage, sleeping in a Japanese pod or hiding in the Baggage Car 🤣’ That way should your decluttering mojo return you are perfectly placed to continue on your decluttering journey 😊 Never heard of a half snow day 😉Excellent decluttering especially the Tip run 👏 As to the letter from BG, definitely sounds like a scam - along with all the other discrepancies you noticed I doubt BG would bother writing a letter for £20.
Millie2008_2, what a good idea to take the time to think about & reaffirm your reasons for decluttering 👏 Excellent decluttering & potentially more items to be released to a new life 👏 Love that decluttering is providing you with positive experiences - ‘The Coat’ success is particularly inspiring 😊
Oh wow Liverpool_Anne, that is the prettiest fire-lighter I have ever seen 🤩
Great decluttering Ginmonster 👏
Madbat60, sewing scissors - what a lovely memento of your Mum 😊 Great decluttering of tasks 👏Harrods tins are lovely ☺️
daisy_1571, you are correct - I am rather pleased that Mr Warthog is not our mascot 😂
Well said 2Scratters - I quite agree that we have all been drawn in by marketing at some or many points in our lives 😔 but hopefully we live & learn 🤞
What a good idea re ballet kit Floss 🙂
bit_by_bit, I reckon the swing instructions were probably written in Chinese & then translated to English - so probably make no sense at all 😉😉 Well done on colour sorting your wool & getting back on the crocheting wagon 👏
Florenceem, I think 6,500 steps is more than enough in a couple of hours 😉 Great decluttering 👏 I believe a 31 day month = 496 - so yes you have reached & surpassed January’s total 👏
coconurtaler you are being way too hard on yourself ‘wagging finger emoji’ You have managed some excellent decluttering 👏 We are all ‘in training to become decluttering kings & queens’ it is like becoming fit - we cannot do it in a day 😉 The more we train the fitter we become 😊
Excellent decluttering charlies_tribe 👏 Btw deleting emails is really good decluttering & can be rather time consuming 😉
Muddy_Walker, mental decluttering is one of the hardest forms of decluttering - quite often more tiring than physical decluttering 😔 So well done on reaching such a difficult decision 🙂 Everything crossed that your colonoscopy is clear 🤞
Gradually catching up 😉

Muddy_Walker - glad your colonoscopy went well and left you feeling upbeat.@Mrs_Salad_Dodger many thanks for the supportive comment.
Declutter Days 17 and 18 - Several round ups of recyclables done and they have all gone out for collection. A couple of inches of my hair trimmed off. Lots of emails gone. Meals prepared using OOD food from my stock take. I find this boring but it must be done! Two items for return taken to the post office. I look forward to seeing the return in my accounts. Kitchen and coffee table kept clear. I’m finding that by never leaving things there others seem less comfortable about doing so too. Mr MV actually has tidied one of his clutter areas; many of these random items have been on that shelf for at least five years. It isn’t completely clear (of course 😂) but it’s much better. He “needs” a visible flat surface to put things on for some reason, preferably near the front door, rather than being happy to put them away in a drawer in the hall.15 -
Hi all, mia as I had a little reaction to the jab and felt a bit rough, still do to be honest so I am back in bed with a cuppa.
@Mrs SD a half snow day is just till dinner time when the roads had cleared
Take care everyone

TC77 said:Would be really interested to see how the families in the nick knowles programme get on after 6 months, 12 months/2 years.
Trying to work out if it's the quantiy of things, disorganisation or probably both for me!
The big bang approach may work, especially where people were so overwhelmed they didn’t know where to start, but it may also decline back to where they started eventually if they don’t change what they were doing before. As people say, you didn’t get all this stuff in a few days, so it’s not going to take a few days to clear it. I’ve been decluttering for 9 years now and I am still in the journey. However, even when my house is a tip, it doesn’t take too long to put back together as I have so much less stuff than I used to. I am now trying to figure out the level of maintenance decluttering needed for my current lifestyle (mostly kids as I don’t get much in other than that).
I do love these sorts of programmes though, so I will take a look if I ever get time! I also liked the BBC Sort your life out one as well. They are a good incentive to declutter!2025 decluttering: 3,984🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Continuing my small steps decluttering I took 10 more books to the charity shop yesterday. My mission today will be to see if I can list a few things on Freecycle and get them out of the house over the weekend. 🤞

Good morning! Thank you all for your good wishes. I’ve booked today off work as some of the sedative is still in my systems and I cant be trusted behind a keyboard 🤣🤣🤣🤣

morning
just a quickie. It's amazing what you pick up from this thread. I have just decluttered all my ordnance survey maps to the local scout leader. Sadly my hillwalking days are over, but they can make good use of them. I still have the memories but thankfully not the blisters!!
Trying to reclutter some weight after being very ill at the beginning of the year. (3.5 stone in 3 weeks in old money. 19kg if your a relative youngster!!)
