Hello, Gorgeous blue sky and sunshine but still cold. Even chanced put washing on the line.Work has been manic and stressful so minimal decluttering and more just surviving. I am pottering along in the background and keeping count of my any decluttering I do manage to do.On a positive it's 3 weeks and no clothes bought for myself, OH or DD. That is a miracle for me and unheard of! Makes me realise how much I use shopping/spending money when I'm stressed.Got a house full of stuff and need to organise myself to figure out exactly what we do have hidden away.21

5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Yes, I did do the last of the wudupa before I went to bed 🙂 Thursday feels slightly warmer outside although there is still a slight frost. At least it is dry if overcast. Late rising today as have only just got up 12:05 😔 I am dressed & having my first cuppa. DSis has been up for a while - she is feeling quite a bit better & is starving but has restricted herself to a couple of slices of toast 🤞 DH has also just got up 12:37 & made his first cuppa 🙂
Plans for today include menu planning & sending DH shopping 😉 + knitting & a bit more work in the office 🤞 So now into cheerleading & a big push to catch up 🤞
Liverpool_Anne, you have reminded me I need to make some soup 😉 Excellent decluttering Liverpool_Anne 👏 & good luck in your ‘secret mission’ 🤫 to recycle the takeaway tubs 🍀 Singing frogs - how lucky are you 🍀😊
Moorviews, so sorry to hear that this time of year is difficult for you but well done on your decision to practise some self care 😊 - remember practice makes perfect & personal TLC is a very good place to start 👏 Good luck with your new hobby of Candle Recycling 🍀 Excellent physical & electronic decluttering + the up-cycling of Christmas cards 👏Thanks D123456789 👏 We are still sorting the office but had a complete day off on Wednesday 😔Good work cleaning your bathroom 👏 Reminds me that I need to do mine 😔 I don’t think you are alone in failing to resist the blandishments of supermarkets 😔 - I am lucky in that DH does the bulk of the shopping so I don’t get tempted 😉Dfw38, we might have to organise little hedgehog badges so we can identify each other when we are out and about 😂 Great decluttering 👏 DH & I both like to see what we are buying so fortunately we have never been tempted by those particular online offers 😮💨
Wednesday2000, good news about the furniture pick up 🙂 2023 has got off to a cracking start not just here on the decluttering thread but everywhere 😉 Hopefully we can provide donations to the charity shops over the coming months as well 🤞
Excellent decluttering QueenJess 👏 Definitely a good idea to have 5 or 10 minute spurts of tidying & decluttering - enough time to see some progress but not too much time to get disheartened 🙂 A happy compromise 👏
DH needs a shopping list so I will sign off for a short while & be back later to have a proper attempt at catching up 😉

Hugs @Muddy_Walker. These decisions seem like backwards steps and sadden the heart but I can promise you will feel better for it. Self care at this point is the best care. When your health returns you can look at doing those things you stopped now again. I hope your colonoscopy goes smoothly tomorrow.
I have a list like that @TC77. This month the inlaws and my house, Feb my house, March doing up the van.
Totally cream crackered after the last few days so having a rest today. Will do more tonight. On a positive note the level of clutter is reducing across the upstairs now. I have had a few little wins- clearing two shelves in DD room and designating them for outgoing collections e.g. OOD meds, empty drugs packets, wigs to go. Yep. Wigs. They each have a space on the shelf until I can move them on.

Have caught up with the thread for now. Getting some great thoughts and advice from you all - Thank you
Vulpix regarding feeding of hedgehogs I believe you are correct your neighbour is probably feeding fodo cat. Our night cam showed cats at the feeding station that we've never seen during the day. The antics... we see them wiggling their way into the food station. We now have a roof and chicane to stop them.
queenjess I agree with you about the minimal mom suggesting washing everyday seeming a bit excessive. Ive adapted it to doing 'something' in the laundry cycle every day whether it be hanging , folding, putting away , bit of ironing. It works for me.
Paspatur My DS has also told me that everything will go in a skip when I depart. There are a couple of items I have put notes on the base (if they were of particular value) or who I want them to go to!
madbat60 yes the hogs are addictive our weekly viewing of the hog cam is a highlight!
Mrs SD a hedgehog mascot would be great!
coconutaler- im slow and steady too - but its still progress

The sun might be shining but it is bitterly cold 🥶 so have succumbed to putting on the heating 😔 Poor DH is off out in a few minutes 😱 - with a rather large shopping list as hospital visiting & office sorting meant no big shopping trips were possible. I have taken some chicken out from the garage freezer as DH has requested a chicken & mushroom pie 🙂 So here goes, another session of cheerleading
274 - 275 Cardboard packaging recycled & plastic packaging binned
Even small victories translate into big wins, Brie 👏 Sorry to hear that your recovery from the lurgy is not going as quick as you & your OH would like 🙁 I like it - fit young gardeners who are enlisted to help by climbing ladders & retrieving boxes - I hope you kept your eyes averted as they climbed up 😂 Re your paintings perhaps take photos & then repurpose them as fire wood 😉
Great decluttering of tasks GrannyKate 👏 & a useful 23 minute session 🙂
vulpix, 5 months of major disruption 😱 & not to put too fine a point on it that is probably Council Speak for at least 8 months 😔 Thank you for DH’s medal 🥇 he will be a bit bemused 😉 Nick Knowles is proving very popular 😊 but I have to say I am not too certain I would be able to go through all my/our stuff in 2 days 😅 although if the team are decorating etc it might be worth it 😉 Cat snuggling sounds good to me vulpix 😊
Excellent decluttering Dfw38 👏 Woo hoo 5 boxes sorted 🥳
Madbat60, what a lovely sentiment “cat snuggling counts as the best emotional decluttering” 😊 Excellent decluttering of photographs 👏 Perhaps you could get DP’s family to help sort photos 😉
DH is back from the sm, so I will return later after shopping is put away 🙂

Another busy day at work but I have the day off tomorrow !!!! Nick Knowles' show continues to inspire ! (I'm glad he's as nice in real life as on TV Mrs SD)! I think looking at other people's clutter is making me see my own blind spots. I let go of a bedside cabinet that I'm no longer using, rather than trying to find a home for it - I'd parked it under DS' desk & was looking for other places then thought - why am I keeping this thing I don't use, need or like? ) It was snapped up from outside my house within 30 mins!
The other thing that made a huge difference is to get the back up code to access my work email on my new lap top - I've been putting it off for weeks - it took 2 mins! This means that I could put away my old lap top which I always had to leave plugged in (old battery) - and in turn that led to the realisation that actually I don't need to leave all the charging cables plugged in the adaptor (I can't believe it took me so long!). I can't tell you the difference it has made to the desk area! not having all of those cables trailing.
Tasks- took books to station library
- Installed work email on new laptop
- Took down & stored winter fairy lights

Evening everyone 🙋♀️
I didn’t think I was going to get much done today as I had a lovely trip out to a garden centre with a friend I haven’t seen since before Christmas. When I got back I decided to tackle my jewellery as a quick win. Managed to declutter 6 necklaces, 1 bracelet and 20 pairs of earrings! This is all just cheap stuff bought to wear with specific outfits, some of it more than 20 years old and some of it not actually worn for about 15!I’ll put all together and drop off at charity shop tomorrow when I do weekly food shop. 👍On the topic of items belonging to ‘dad’ (sorry I cant remember who showed the box belonging to their dad) I have a pair of elastic arm bands that my dad always wore to stop his shirt sleeves showing too long under his suit jacket. My dad was a tailor and very particular about his clothes 🙂. I recall him getting changed into his suit to go a few streets away to the phone box in the days before we got a telephone. Mum and I teased him ever after. Fond memories. 😍
@mrs_@Mrs_Salad_Dodger i am in awe of your cheerleading and would like to offer you a gold cup for services above and beyond! 🏆
